Just a little confusing at times ....... so many members falling at George the Master's feet.  Waiting in anticipation for 'shout-outs, mentions, little quips ...... George owns you .....

That's where I think you are completely wrong.

George even talked about it when he talked about TSL (Time Spent Listening), he said having multiple guests etc keep people listening.

What that means is keeping people that are listening in the car to continue when they get home etc, because they don't know if the second guest will be worth it or not etc.

It's really simple though, and we can go back and forth but the fact is ART is COMPETING with C2C.

Maybe not directly (probably due to Art having class and because Sirius offered him a better deal and more freedom than terrestrial radio ever could) but they are competing.

Well I agree but I think the is a small % of coast listeners.
I think coast will lose some its audience just not a ton.

I caught a bit of one of Art's shows on shoutcast yesterday where he was talking about ratings.  He said he'd just gotten the Arbitron ratings and wanted to share them with his listeners because he was so grateful to them and felt like they should know. 

He said that his show was #1 in cities all across the country, then he got very specific. He said that in PA, the overall ratings were up 1,650%!   He repeated it twice because he was so shocked: one thousand six hundred and fifty percent.  He further broke that down by demographic, by gender and age group, he gave all the details.  He said the show was now the #1 rated show in NYC on WABC (isn't that one of the stations Noorie lost?), and the #1 rated show in San Francisco on KSFO (didn't Noorie lose that one too?).   He said that it was the #1 rated show in ANY time slot in San Diego, a city with forty stations.

All we've heard about ratings from Noorie is that they've grown the number of affiliates and that the 1,000 cat ladies who pay to hear him sing Elvis songs all love his show.

I'm really not sure how wanting to have a civil conversation with gnoory equates to being a fanboy.  That's what I was talking about -- people remember Fantastic Forums and so there's mistrust.  People think Noory has no desire to change so there's mistrust.  That could well be true.  The trolls I mentioned are the ones we've seen recently coming here solely to divide us.  Let's not let that happen. 

Calling people out for wanting to have a civil conversation won't protect this forum.  It will hasten it's downfall.  This will never become NooryGab so what's the point in bashing Noory to his face?  Be tough and steadfast.  But what will bashing accomplish?  If you want to I won't stop you but please don't mistake my wanting to have a civil conversation with caving.

Noory said his ratings are great. He should read them on air I'm sure lots of listeners besides us are interested in them

WABC carries Red Eye now.....though to be fair WABC might be owned by cummulus (sp?) radio who owns Red Eye. I haven't checked.

Losing WABC is a big deal.

Dave's audience is different than arts now.
Sure there some paranormal fans but a lot will consume both shows.

I don't think a lot of people can afford to spend seven hours listening, so its one or the other for me.

onan, the begging for shout outs happened tonight (and I do mean begging).  Noorie said he also wanted to give the forum a shout out and was it okay to call it Coast Gab, because if it was Bell Gab he'd leave the shout out to Art.  At least two people told him, sure, go ahead and change the name of the forum to Coast Gab, as long as you give us a shout out.  I'm not sure how much MV will like that, maybe he won't mind...

Follow up, I looked it up and WABC is owned by Cumulus. So in all fairness them dropping C2C could of been due to competition with their show Red Eye.

Look at all the c2c fan pages etc after it was announced they wouldn't be on SiriusXm any more. Take that sampling and it gives you a good idea of just how many people have it just for coast.

Gnoory really does brighten our day with sunshine. Hope he keeps this up even after Art's show starts.

Shame on him though, doubting poor sweet lil' Goatsy- an innocent catte that needs our love & prayers to get well soon.
