oh, and there are a lot of reasons why i love this forum, but at the top of the list is this:
while every other coast forum is busy sucking george noory's ass just so they can get mentioned on his shitty little overnight radio show, we're busy trolling him via email and any other form of communication we can find.  meanwhile, we're many times larger than any of those other forums.  the irony.

When the first GLP 'George Sucks' thread reached 2500 pages I sent George a congradulatory email and asked if he could give us a shout out. 

He replied that we were lowlifes (sic) and we could 'wallow in our dispair'.

It's great to know we are at least annoying to him.

so you want to turn this into a clique forum where only group think perseveres?  no thanks.  there's always the fantastic forum (et al.) if that's your thing.

if having a thousand moderators with their fingers on the trigger is what you think makes for a good forum experience, count me out.  i've seen forums run this way and it's a funeral every time.

and by the way... with a bunch of moderators slinking around here, i can assure you, some of your posts would probably be first on the chopping block.  believe me:  you do not want a bunch of moderators running this forum.

what ways do we have of dealing with problem users, you ask?  if you have a problem with a post, click the "report post" link.  that's it.  nothing more is required by anyone at all.  it's very simple, and works like a charm.  it will be addressed when i get around to it and in the way i think is most appropriate.

i think everyone would benefit by reading this forum's terms of service.  based on some of the behavior i've seen recently, it's pretty fucking clear it's either 1) not being read or 2) being dismissed entirely.  in either case, make sure a post actually violates the terms of service in some way before reporting it.  the fact that you do not like somebody or their style or their presence is not inherently a violation of the terms of service, contrary to what some apparently believe.

No kidding... I am not much for forums in the first place.  There have been two in the past that I was a member of until they started with moderators.  I think within 6 months I no longer visited the place- let alone post.  There are problems that come around on unmoderated forums (trolls, bitching etc) but people have to grow up one day and figure our how to work things out or ignore others...


Besides all that- this is not a completely unmoderated forum.  Just one run by somebody who gives us all a LOT of leeway.  If somebody cannot be somewhat civil they are gone- just not fast enough for some people- but there have been a few people removed...  I think we can all wait a few hours or days (at that point the person has really shown the true colours anyhow) and that we do not need somebody with a ban hammer to spring into action by the third post...

that's a good point.  no way c2c is still in operation ten years from now.  every indicator, from the declining ratings to george's own increasing ineptitude to the horrible direction of the show's topics, tells me it's approaching the end.

i believe i've stepped in it.  i don't mean to suggest anyone who has ever reported a post is a cunt.  quite to the contrary, actually:  i depend on people reporting posts because i can't be here reading every post all the time, and i'm not going to bring in moderators.  what i was referring to are people who report other users just based on a vague, generalized "i don't like this person" type of thing, but not any specific terms of service violation.  tos violations are the only reported posts i want to see.  ever.  also, i'm not having a good day today, and my posts likely reflect that... so i'll probably soon regret half of what i've typed this afternoon.
