I'm trying to recall all the steps needed for air conditioning from the James Burke shows I watched decades ago. Anyone know if Connections is on iTunes or something?

How much of a body would you need to make a clone?

He shoulda gone with the psychic lawyer.

This caller is drunk as shit.  I like how none of the hosts or the guests ever acknowledge when a caller is shit faced and just politely answer the question no matter how incoherent he is.

I found most, if not all of the episodes on YouTube a while back.

Happy 2500, GNS.
Jorch has been giving us a running count over the last few weeks of ticket sales for his 'live stage show event' in Asheville NC, letting us know how many seats are still available for the stalls. When they've all gone, they will open the balcony. Tonight came the exciting news that the balcony is open. 'But they're all good seats,' says Joorch, 'because it's a quaint theater.' Or 'thudder' as it seems to be pronounced in Nooronese. For 'quaint' read 'small', I think, which gives an idea of how the good people of Asheville are stampeding to greet their hero.
Strangely, what I would know as the stalls or the orchestra level, Joorch keeps calling 'the bottom'. Yes, folks, Joorch told us 'the bottom is now full'.
Which begs the question: if I had bought tickets in the first few rows, would I have front bottom seats?

And what happened to Elvis's stepbrother?? That was a train wreck I was looking forward to.

ya I wondered the same thing. I watched a movie years ago that I think the step brother wrote. It was not a good movie

A lot of this stuff is hilarious, though I do come away feeling like a loser for thinking so.

That was great TV.  I wish they'd start airing it again.

The delusional nature of the "Project Serco" story aside, Len Casten's comments about the 1964 Lonnie Zamora sighting in Socorro, NM are a good example of a "researcher" not having his facts straight (at least within the context of reported sighting) and using these factually incorrect aspects to support his own story.   In response to George's question about what the Serco spacecraft looked like, Casten said it was the "huge craft sitting on the ground...." Zamora reported.  How huge?  In that same discussion, he claimed the craft was said to have had 100 ft ceilings.

The Zamora case is one of the best documented cases in ufology, and one of the first to offer physical evidence of the sighting.  That Casten does not know what Zamora reported was the size of a mid-size automobile is to me indicative of the quality/depth of his research.  In fact, Zamora first thought what he saw was a burning, overturned car.  The size and description (including two crew members in light colored coveralls) even led some to speculate a few years later what Zamora had seen was a flight test of an early version of the Apollo lunar module.  How anyone could call either a car or the LEM "huge" is puzzling.  He either is ignorant of the case he is citing, or purposely misrepresenting the facts of that case to validate his story.  In either event, how can he be taken seriously?

Note:  J.P.'s Paranormal Vortex is on the right, Jorch's Portal of Suckage is on the left.

The Nooron is a true scientific wonder as it both sucks and blows at the same time resulting in complete doldrums across the terrestrial radio waves almost on a nightly basis.

I'd say it's a stalemate except that despite any bit of hope, we all know that it's the listeners who end up losing.

It's a 500 seat theatre. Bottom level fits 350 and balcony fits 150. They give some interesting information on their website of how much it cost to rent and all the extra fees that come with it

In the interests of due literary diligence and the pursuit of The Great American Novel, I am now the possessor of a copy of Night Talk. NMN did, after all, change its avatar to honour Papa Nooryway in celebration of this great occasion. Pray for my soul, brothers and sisters, as I descend into its murky depths. I will send regular updates back home as I journey through it.

At a very cursory glance, I can make these three initial observations:
1) There is no sign of a ghost writer - at least none is credited.
2) George's mother is called Georgette. The book is dedicated to her: 'To my mother, Georgette, who started it all!'
3) Greg Nowell clearly can't be based on Joorch. Right on Page 1, second paragraph, we read:
"He had been sitting in front of the microphone for five hours, still going strong but a little tired because the show required a lot of energy and staying constantly on his toes." (My italics)
I would suggest the distinctly dubious grammar of that sentence also does not bode well for the future. Never fear, though. Onwards and upwards!!

What do you fault in the grammar there?

Oh, I get it: the tense problem.  The first clause is pluperfect, then after the comma it's present but without a new predicate.  Should've written, "...yet was still going strong...."

Jorch had to settle for Tommy since Birnes isn't speaking to Jorch these days.  I look forward to your riveting updates since I have no intention of reading that garbage.  ;)

Donald Noory

Jorch's ghostwriter on Night Talk was Koko the Gorilla. Koko was appalled that a large publishing house like Tor/Forge would pay a functionally illiterate buffoon like Jorch to write a book, but Jorch's promise of a lifetime supply of turmeric and turkee sammiches convinced her to undertake the task.

Good post Duke.  I heard much of the tale last nite - btw I think it's Serpo, as in Serpico minus a syllable.   :D   Anyway what struck me as wild was how totally nonchalant this guest could be about such wild claims.  Like when he was casually discussing this light-years voyaging landing team on this so-called planet in Zeta Reticuli.  And how at first they were in a hot desert, so they just lived underground for awhile, then mosied on up north to the more temperate zone with trees and grasslands much like Montana.  If I had access to such mind-blowing knowledge I'd be much more excited to deliver the news.  Heck I get more enthused when I find a new ice cream flavor to share with people.

Ha!  Right on, Zeeb.  Jorch's Old Hag must have awakened me last night, just in time to listen to the Serpo tale.  It was somewhat entertaining to listen to this guy spin his tale.  He reminded me of this guy.

Bat shit crazy works pretty well with Jorch, sometimes.

Thanks for the input Zeebo. The auto correct may have gotten me on the spelling of Serpo, but no matter how we spell it, I'm extremely skeptical of the whole story.

Ever notice how frequently we hear these fringe ufologists blend aspects of popular culture, especially motion pictures and TV, into their "research".  Clearly a lot of "Close Encounters" parallels the Serpo story, even down to allegedly using musical tones to communicate with the aliens.  And how often do you hear some of these guys/gals freely use  "Star Trek" expressions like "prime directive" and "Class M planet"?  Similar concepts/terminology come from "2001", "Planet of the Apes", "Day the Earth Stood Still" etc.  Over time, the original sources for some of these concepts are forgotten (if they were ever known to younger devotees) and the ideas they represent are almost cited/taken as common knowledge, if not facts.

Are you in for a treat. George is having a special guest on in this fourth hour who actually saw a cow being abducted. He is the only known witness of such an event.
