I'm all for Zimmerman as the science advisor (even though I don't know why C2C has to resort to people who are self-educated in their fields), but it has always seemed odd that Coast even needs a science advisor.  I always thought that was an in-joke specifically for Hoagland because of his claims with Cronkite and because he wasn't really a scientist.

plus Hoagland only was on for space issues, so he is more a c2c "space advisor" rather than general "science"

I know what you mean by "believes", but there are serious aspects to all those subjects if you don't treat them exclusively sensationally or as belief systems.

I hear you, I have some doubts, or beliefs, about some of those items (or aspects to them since as with many things it is not a pure either/or, truth/falsehood issues in them) but just curious how Zimmerman, will treat them as a "science adviser."

Isn't Tommy AWOL with some illness still? Or maybe there is a shake-up going on at C2C, what with RCH leaving, Quayle leaving, Alex not being on in some time, Tommy absent, and Norry even almost insulting callers, even long time callers, if they mention Art? Its winding down folks....winding down. Norry is sounding scared and defensive on air even.

I think Dr. Z. is pretty good for basic space exploration stuff (not so much the more far out astrophysics stuff).  But in any case you can hear the frustration on both sides when George tries to push for more exotic explanations and Dr. Z tries to convince him back that everyday mainstream science is already interesting so why go there.

I agree. Zimmerman's explanations don't "fit" with the C2C, and Norry's, ideas about science. (Though I like the wild stuff he is correct that REAL science and nature is just as interesting and amazing.)
ps: I don't know if you caught this. Don't Mess With Texas Squirrels. I have a colony of Rock Squirrels and they are really cool creatures. I never seen them eat a snake though!

Weird how that is all happening before this carnation of Art returning to the air. Especially versus last time.
It's almost as though his own "buds" know that this time it's game over.

Man, I'm not on facebook but just checked out the C2C facebook. The comments are...mainly anti-Norry and anti-C2C's "new direction." I'm a little amazed that they are still allowed on there but I guess since Tommy is ill that nobody at C2C, certainly not Norry, can delete them? Aren't there some paralegals who know facebook to edit out all the "haters" and "rat eaters" comments?

LOL, I recommend 3-D and just go off compass. Maybe pull over and stop to ask someone. You have to know where you're going first to do that so please do that part first.

Jesus H! Coming late to the party with a lot of catching up. Listening to RCH on Dark City while skipping through the last few pages.
Hilarious to hear Hoaxy bitch-slapping Dave and Tommee. What a fucking mess!
And I second what's been said earlier about Zimmerman replacing Hoagland. I've always enjoyed Z's appearances, but he is a straight down the middle science guy who gives short shrift to Dave whenever aliens and the rest of the circus gets dragged out. Given that Dave increasingly spends his time attacking science and scientists, it's hard to see how this can be anything but an uncomfortable fit. There'll be no glass skyscrapers on the moon from Zimmerman.
I suspect Dave will be even more of a mess than normal tonight.


I was also struck by Hoagland's characterization of Danheiser as the controlling force behind Dave and Coast, and thought of this grotesque transformation we've witnessed from the grandfatherly, non-descript Noory with the combed back, thinning and greying hair to this bizarre new creature with the jet-black hair and dyed mustache; the personal appearances; singing; riding in bubble cars in the Burbank parade; the campaigns; the leather jackets, Affliction t-shirts and tight jeans or the matching tie, shirt and handkerchief sets and the promotion of him as a 'TV' star.. And all the time, the show sliding further and further down the tubes. Is this all the hand of Two-Ton as some latter-day Svengali, pulling the strings on his puppet creation?

Zimmerman has been a staple of John Batchelor's nightly show for a long time discussing current space-related events.  Batchelor may look and sound like a gay Mr. Magoo mixed with Marvin the Martian in a bowtie but he's a sharp interviewer who knows a lot about a wide range of subjects from history and current events.   Zimmerman seems pretty mismatched for C2C.  Has he been on already and I missed it...I hope tonight is his first because the quality whiplash going from Batchelor's to uh..Dave's(?) show might be hilariously lethal.
