I have come up with a hypothetical exchange below which I hope illustrates this frustration many of us have:

Guest:  "I have secret knowledge of the exact location of Atlantis." ... dramatic pause ....

Obvious follow-up response:  "What?  Really?  Where is it, and how did you come by this information???"

Responses more likely to actually happen ...

#1:  (whatever question is next on the canned list, whether it relates to current topic or not)
#2:  "What's your most fascinating (fill-in-the-blank)?"
#3:  "What's next for you?"
#4:  "Where can people get your book?"
#5:  "Ok next caller"

Agree with Zeebo.  There's a sense of disconnect in a lot of your interviews.

Perhaps you do it so your guests won't feel threatened and others will feel free to say what they want to.  Perhaps you're just trying to stick too closely to a format.  But it doesn't make the interview as stimulating as it might otherwise be.

Hello Mr. Noory . It is very nice to see you here and I think you have a great sense of humor.  You also seem very nice and I personally don't care why you came here to post but I'm glad you did.  If I were to give you my personal thoughts on this forum, I would say, no one is under obligation to do anything others think they should.  I know you work very hard and that your job is not an easy one.  Like lots of situations in life you can not please everyone.  I think all you should concern yourself with is pleasing you.  There are people over the last decade, a long time, who never heard of Art Bell and if you and Coast have won them over I doubt they will stop listening.

Personally, I have listened to Art for a long enough time to have missed him and welcome him back but I don't think my choosing one show over another should be of a concern for you.  It's hard to befriend people who already have their minds set.  I don't think it's your job to win them over.

Just enjoy your job and your family because life is short and I think Mr. Bell would agree.   

Yeah George. Please yourself not the premier suits. Show was a lot better in St. Louis!

But I, and I'm sure many others too, have been told in replies that emails sent to that address are not read by George. It seems to me it would be easy for anyone on the program to return the email, so I can't see it as proof positive at all.

You are, of course, completely correct. Nearly anything can be spoofed, or others answering email/posting. There is, however, one FOOLPROOF method, and I already have the site setup and ready to go.

No one can spoof George's voice - and I have a chat site ready to go that is easy-as-pie use... many people can be online at once, no registration is required; you can login as a guest, or give yourself a screenname.

But anyone can also use voice chat or video chat (multiple users) - and we all know George's computer has both a microphone and webcam (either would do).

So tomorrow night, I'll ask George to come into the chat-room, and SPEAK to us. I'll post the link once he accepts. There is also real-time "typing" chat, so others can ask questions. This will be proof-positive of the identity.
