Anybody with me that this wasn't some genius move to win the hearts and minds of detractors, but to derail the very, very vocal minority that has been fucking with the Coast social media ESPECIALLY heavy since the announcement of Art's return?  That seems like the only play here.  He is right in that there are still tons of people out there that like him (not saying that I am one of them).  This was a targeted strike against a pocket that has been disruptive for the last few weeks.  Personally, I would rather see him get his act together so that I have two good shows to listen to, but it's going to take a ton of hard work to get up to snuff.  You can't just put lipstick on a pig.  Beyond the mispronunciations, my big issue is with non-sequitor follow up questions and constantly agreeing with guests, typically prefaced with "Ever since I was a boy..."

I'm about half way between most of the people's opinions on either extreme here.  I'll be cautiously optimistic if we see results over the next few shows.  Beyond that, this was a social media consultant's idea to temporarily squelch the peanut gallery popping up on the Coast Facebook page and elsewhere.  Just calling it like I see it.

I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but Art probably negotiated that knowing in fact Jeorge's show would be that of an abandoned mine once Art is live. Some people call that professional courtesy and being a man.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the main reason for his showing up here.  The C2C IT people can't keep up with what's happening on his Facebook page -- there are a lot of "likes" to posts on the C2C page referring to Art's new program for example.  But at the same time, there's nothing more disruptive to a dedicated group than an instigator causing friction within the ranks where there wasn't previously. 

It could be that George's real motive is that he's making a serious effort to squash the threat Art's new program is to C2C -- and to himself in particular.   George is a businessman, after all.

Try to give it time Coaster, things will shake out.  dave will either continue to suck or he will start to show some interest in the topics and most importantly listen to what the guests are saying during interviews.  If he improves good for him if not, nothing is really lost.  Come September I'm on the Bell Bandwagon regardless.
This forum has been around for a long time, I'm sure there have been other disruptive episodes, this too shall pass.

I completely agree, but do still think it is fun to try to figure out what motives there have been for what went down last night.

I agree.  I would count myself in the middle ground, but what went down last night is too soon to assume that there is a real effort here.  Results will speak for it.  The two extremes have one thing in common: jumping to conclusions.  Let's see what happens.

I also think that the prank calls should not stop.  Those are just damn fun.  I prank my friends all the time for the fun of it, not because I don't like them.  I get that for a radio show, conceivably, it could get disruptive, but it adds a nice third flavor to the typical blind acceptor/total nutjob duo, and, let's be honest, there's no way that too many could get through.  The other night when George congratulated Bruce Bateman on the new nephew was PRICELESS.  The ideal would be that George takes an improv class or two and riffs a little bit with the knuckeheads that call in.  THAT would be entertaining, and also something that I could see Art doing.  I mean, look at JC.  Originally he had so little patience for that guy, then he just started messing with him and getting him in over his depth.  Oh, one could hope.  Like I said above: results.  Let's just see what happens.  Odds are we wont see any, but it would definitely be nice to not regret my year subscription to Coast Insider (sans the SIT rebroadcasts).

Two thoughts on that; I'm not sure if I would immediately believe dave and if Art does interview hoaxland I think it would highlight the difference between a dave interview and one conducted by an interviewer who is skilled.

I was tired of Hoagie long before George Noory showed up.  Same with some of the others like Whitley and Ed Dames

As long as it doesn't start with "Ever since I was a boy..." followed by restating what he just said, and ending with Art agreeing with him, then I will be happy.  That alone will be a big improvement from Doory.  <-- trying it out, seeing if it sticks.
