I was at a high school event recently and 16 year old boy went up to his attractive, middle aged high school teacher and gave her a hug.  I would advise her to put a stop to that.  High school boys don't hug their male teachers.  It just seemed very odd.  I doubt I've ever hugged a teacher.  Ever.  Well when I was in school.  I've dated a couple of teachers but I wasn't in high school in the time.

Just seems to be an over-reaction to me.  There is no indication that he was punished previously for this behavior, in the sense that he repeatedly did this to the same teacher, or any other.  Our institutions throw around words such as "sexual harassment" like they are nothing.  How devastating it must be for children to be accused of adult criminal behavior when they probably don't even understand the concept.

I agree it should be considered inappropriate in this context - but kids do dumb things and hopefully learn from it.  A hug is sorta low on the severity level.

I don't know how they raise you guys in the US but when I was in High School I knew it was wrong to hug a teacher. We're not talking about a kid here, he's a young adult who probably should have known better. I don't agree with the severity of the punishment or the labeling of sexual harassment but he did cross a line and shouldn't expect no consequences and must know that what he did was wrong.

Yeah I dunno guys.  I myself have what's called a "don't fucking touch me" complex which makes just about any and all touching apart from my gf, and family members, prohibited.  Even the family members can make me uncomfortable with a hug it all depends on how close I feel to them.

And why is that? When a single man walks past a school, the hard of thinking say he must be a paedophile. When those hard of thinking are parents of children who are brought up to believe that every man they ever see outside the family is a rapist, is it any wonder that schools and their staff take this paranoia on board and integrate it into the policies? This week (and I'm not making this up-look for it), an entire class of kids in Kent was evacuated from a swimming pool because a teacher spotted.....a prosthetic leg on the floor of a closed cubicle. It's owner was in the pool, but the teacher made the assumption that this leg equated to a paedophile inside the cubicle...I have absolutely no idea why; Only that their logic and thought processes should be harnessed and put into pulp fiction.

That most child abuse takes place within the family of the abused is of course conveniently disregarded by the press and talking heads who stoke up this paranoia.; far easier and more news worthy to make every man who looks 'different' the bogey man.

Consequently, as I said in my previous post, teachers and other paid guardians of children are becomming absolutely paranoid, all common sense has gone out of the window, because they know that they screw up (or perceived to have) and they can not only wave goodbye to their career, but will have their ass sued to hell and back, as well as cause perpetual misery.

As a consequence, in the UK, very few young men are electing to get qualifications ot go into teaching; they see it as a thankless and potentially destructive choice to make..In North Yorkshire (one of several such cases) a twenty something male teacher was suspended and ultimately taken to court (but acquitted) on the grounds he'd touched up two 15 year old girls in his class. The story was entirely fabricated and dreamt up because he'd put one in detention. 18 months after his initial suspension and post court case, where both girls broke down in court and confessed they'd made it all up, he naturally wanted to go back to teaching; Not a chance. Even his union wouldn't help him, although he was totally innocent. No education authority, school would even consider him for a job because of the made up case. When he was interviewed for the programme I watched, he was a delivery van driver.. A teaching career gone. Meanwhile those two lying little bitches are sitting pretty and breeding more mendacious offspring.

Have fun insulting me and then immediately putting me back on ignore so I cant reply.  I live in a one story house with NO basement, am indeed a little overweight since that tends to happen to people, but guess what, the people in my life are great, and since you seem a little shallow but consistent in conversing about my looks, do YOU like me or something?  I've had very attractive girlfriends in my life for your info, and do not feel the need to explain my life to you, but you seem to be so interested in it I will for YOUR benefit.  For some crazy reason they dig me and don't really care about the belly, it's the tools that matter, once you learn this and have a connection with someone maybe you'll become a little less bitter and use better language then calling someone a cunt TWICE, in a private message, only to feel like a better man.  So happy whatever it is you celebrate there and enjoy being a bitter person.  I've enjoyed our little conversation, but all things must end.

Agreed Jaz, I think a douche-missle timer should be instituted.  Where if you have someone on ignore, then take them off ignore, you should have to wait at least a couple of days before re-ignoring them.  If you un-ignore and send them a PRIVATE message, you should have your head checked first as to why you are perpetuating a conversation to begin with, unless you really just have a bad heart and feel it necessary to project negativity towards them and others.

I like cake, and generally do get to eat it, so why would I want my cake but NOT be able to eat it...OMG I'm SO confused right now Jaz, HELP ME!
