I was in physical therapy last week and someone brought her kiddies in the treatment room. The kiddies proceeded to run up and down the floor with ol' Mom resting on the table, doing leg lifts and not paying any attention to them....

This kind of thing seems more and more common these days.  I don't know if the parents are using some new pc "let the kids roam free" style of non-supervision, or if they've just given up and checked out.

I've gotten so used to seeing the blank parental faces as their kids are screaming, running around, climbing chairs/tables etc. that I was surpirsed recently when, at the library, a kid was acting up and I actually heard a mother say loudly "Enough!  This is a library!  Wait till we get to the park!"

Bravo.  Exactly.  Kids should be kids - but it's a zoning issue, and they need to learn that they can't go crazy in certain places like libraries, doctors offices, museums, airplanes, restaurants etc.  Save it for school recess, the park, chuck e. cheese, ball games, etc.

People who take their misbehaving children on flights. especially long flights. Especially when they don't buy them their own seat. I swear (and I don't know what the rules are these days) but if they are old enough to walk, at least, they need their own seat. For our sanity-- not to mention their safety. I think even babies should have their own seat (you really think, parent, that you will be able to hold your baby or child if we hit real turbulence?)

ps: I was on a long flight to Dusseldorf and one kid was constantly running down the aisles. No discipline from mom. He kept hitting into seats, hitting people knees who had crossed-legs, etc. Finally some German businessman jumped up, grabbed the kid, shook him, got in his face, and yelled "STOP IT!" Nobody, even mom or a stewardess, said a thing. Kid looked shocked and scared and whimpered and went back to his row. He stopped his antics the rest of the flight. Unfortunately I was not able to thank the man.

Ok. I do agree this could be horrible.   I recently took my 2 year old on a trip to meet my dad for the first time.  I had such anxiety about people like you, who don't think kids belong on planes.

Being that she's 2, which is the age you ha save to purchase a seat, I did.  With her active nature I would have done it even at 1 year old.  When she was a as baby there is no way I would have paid double for air fare when I could easily have her on me in a sling.  No freaking way.   And yes, I would be able to have my child secure in turbulence.

Plenty of snacks and a few new toys kept her happy.  She got the window seat with me in the middle.   The layovers were a nightmare.  I can happily say that it was all worth it.  Even if we had had a rough time on the plane and received the same disappointed glares as we did in the airport, it changed our lives more significantly for the better than any annoyance a stranger might have experienced for a few hours.

Anyways,  all I'm saying is the kids aren't a least necessary mis-behaving, just behaving like children.

It is more common, at least in my area. It's become like the world is their babysitter and they can't be bothered to take the reins. The kids I was talking about were somewhere between 7 and 9, plenty old enough to know better. They were in the treatment room because the receptionists didn't want to babysit them either, but they were a danger to the people who were trying to do their walking therapy.

I think kids go wild in places like this because they suffer from a lack of parental involvement and because they're not taken to the park or anywhere else to run like kids should be doing. Instead, they're parked in front of iPads and video games. I can't tell you how many little kids in my class have iPads, but don't know how to say 'please' or 'thank you' or not push someone else to go out a door. It may not be the kid's fault he's like that, but no one cares about that fine point when he's almost knocked nana and her new hip down.

Since I have a cane and can wave it, I guess I'm a bona fide curmudgeon.  ;)

Have cane will wield it. Vicious you are lady, vicious. Whereas I'm viscus and vivacious.

When will people learn.  They just need to stop having sex.  Problem solved.

It's unhygienic anyway, so why do they do it? I tried it once and found it was dirty.. However I was in a farm yard full of cow shit so that might explain it.

Kids aren't allowed to use their energy up as they used to do due to "threats" of a pervert behind every tree, lawsuits, and over-parenting. They aren't allowed to run around outside, play tag at school, (one elementary school near me has even banned all ball games and tag due to "no touching" rules and lawsuit concerns), building forts, and if you let even a older child to go to the park or ride his bike around "unsupervised" you can actually get into trouble legally! And the ipads teach these kids that you must always be stimulated artificially with constant reward- almost brainwashing. Watch what happens when they "plug in". Almost instantly zombies, ignoring all stimuli around them. Take it away, especially from young addicts, and instant compliant or tantrum. And now they want them in schools even! And we wonder why kids are fat and misbehaving and rude?

I believe I read in the Yorkshyre gazette that Bossythe cow had actually winced during the experience. But it wasn't known if it was from your looks or from your size.  ::) ::)

On another subject, how did that pregnancy test turn out?

I can neither confirm or deny the allegation; suffice to say Bossy is jealous of Victoria the Holstein. PP67 Yorkshire Life magazine (July edition), second paragraph of the article, with pictures and diagrams. I wore a bag over my head, so it can't be my face that was the issue.

As you ask, apparently I was worried about nothing. I'm not pregnant, BUT my insides are still not 'right'. Not sure exactly what, but several yards too many tubes and things.

Well that's a relief.  Maybe it's the tea keeping you awake.  Or stimulation from Bellgab.  Or something.  I'm out of ideas.

What a coincidence. The article says Bossi too had a bag over her head!  :o

I don't drink tea, I drink coffee, not much though. However not a good idea at 4am when I can't sleep. My neck aches like hell, stress and tension I think (no, not because of BG). I need a massage, but I'm about 2500 miles from the US eastern seaboard where those who don't know me could get on the tramp steamer 'Greasy Bastard' and pay their passage to get over here and give me a neck rub. Too much to ask?

Unless you ask in a nice way.

I don't know if that would work. We pronounce 'massage'' differently here. Would it be the same thing?

My last principal wouldn't allow any running from fear of lawsuits. He'd been burned in another school and was gunshy ever after. No snowthrowing, no running, etc. and yet kids managed to run and get hurt despite it all.

Yorkshire Pud, you crack me up.

No, I don't blame the children for behaving like children, eyenoeyeno.  Placing blame rarely leads to anyone stepping up to claim responsibility in my experience.  The parents, however, are responsible, and I wish they would be as involved as you are in their child's development.

I grow tired of the screaming, no matter who it is.
Yeah, Little Hater, that song sums it up; gave me a good laugh too.  Thanks.
Guess it's time for me to get my own cane and wave it.  It's been a hell of a couple of weeks.
