Let’s dispel once and for all with this fiction that Ted Cruz doesn’t know what he’s eating. He knows exactly what he’s eating.

It took 55 years, but someone finally beat Nixon's sweaty 5 o'clock shadow.  Cruz's booger makes the Debate Hall of Fame!

Other than that, Cruz's forced cuteness and smarmy pontifications were as bad as the booger but a different way.  Rubio reminded me of a walk-on at a comedy club who can't stop grinning like a jackass when he thinks he said something clever.  SNL gonna kill 'em this week.

Yep, Cruz is gonna have trouble living that one down over the next few days.

Yeah, that's now secondary to the booger. The Cruz people are gonna have a bad few days on the internet.

Again, Trump smashes the post-debate polls.  I'm a bright-eyed pessimist, "unaligned," along for the ride (we're fucked, why not enjoy it!) â€" and Trump has to win for American politics to stay watchable.

I can't wait till this Saturday watching Trump run the states in victory, and seeing Kasich rise in the polls while Rubio Foamboy, and Rato Cruz support plummet.

Am I seriously going to have to decide between Trump and Clinton? Really?!?

I'd really like him to directly answer that specific post in a detailed manner. He asked that of me, I did, and I think it's fair to ask that he reciprocates.

That's the price to pay after 8 years of Obama.

Burn the coal, pay the toll.

Before tonight I would have scraped out my eyes with a melon scoop before voting for Trump. However, after hearing him passionately respond to the juvenile dick insults of "Little Marco" by assuring the country in the opening minutes of a presidential debate that there's nothing small about his hands, I changed my mind.  Size matters.

I would prefer to not see Trump or Hillary win.  But I am a realist.

I keep hearing about how important it is that Trump not become the candidate and was listening to the "wonderful" idea of strategic voting so that there are enough delegates to overrule Trump if he does not get over 50%.

First, I am really sick of politics now being about voting AGAINST someone rather than for what you believe in- it has completely perverted democracy (although I do understand the attraction and the reasoning...)

Secondly, I find it interesting how may in the "old guard" are willing to completely alienate voters.  If Trump wins 40% and they "crown" the winner who walks away with 27% of the vote they will basically turn off a huge portion of voters- and likely for a decade or two.  I would not mind seeing Kasich- but to believe that my wishes should "trump" the popular will of thousands of voters is ___.

This may be the election where the Republican establishment finally shoot themselves, fatally.

***Also, is this the first time that somebody running for president is openly being investigated by hundreds of FBI agents?  My reality appears to resemble a comedy routine.

I don't have TV, and before last night I'd not listened to any of the debates on the radio.  What a joke!  I'm shocked and in disbelief at how unprofessional and immature these pathetic idiots sounded.  Thank god I don't have TV, the visuals would have really been too much to take.

As they spoke, I could easily identify the three stooges, but I'd totally forgotten about Kasich.  He was the only one who sounded legitimate.  I thought he came across significantly more cogent and intelligent than any of the others.  Why didn't Republican leaders promote him earlier in the race before things turned to shit?

Kasich needs to win Ohio and stay in till the convention. Then be ready to be called at the eleventh hour if things fall apart in Cleveland -- the last man standing in a brokered convention.

They'd do something that nobody has made them do for a long time: negotiate and agree to stop cheating by devaluing their currency.  We would also then have a level field... do you know that China charges a 13-17% import tariff and ours averages less than %2?  Almost our entire federal income was supplied by tariffs before the implementation of the income tax in 1913.  How's that working for us now?  We need to reverse that trend.

China needs us just as bad as we need them.  They'd play.  And our economy has been spiraling for a while now.  It's not going to stop anytime soon, but unfortunately the remedies may make things worse before they get better.  There ain't no magic way out of the hole that took decades for us to dig.

They're ALL a disaster waiting to happen.  Because that's what America is right now, a disaster waiting to happen.  We've just only been delaying it in any way we can.  We are Rome, and our fall is coming, and it gives me no pleasure to say that.  Our unfunded liabilities will break us, it's only a matter of time.  We've imported millions of people that are incompatible with our culture, government, and economy.  We've let our own government stray so far from what they were constitutionally limited to that the only way to describe our situation is that we have an illegitimate government. And the only candidate that ever even hinted at that was Ron Paul.

And if the military refuses to follow the commander in chief, they get court martialed.  Just like they would if they did it to Obama.

Wait until you get a load of trump's 45% tariffs . That's INSANE. It's beyond insane.....it's trumpian. But I guess you're ok  with a trade war with China. I guess you're okay with the under class, and middle class suffering horribly under prices that are tripled. I guess you're OK with the loss of millions and millions of jobs because of it. Your OK with that then, are you? There's a common sense approach to the situation with China. But Trump is not a common sense kind of guy. He's a buffoon. An idiot. He panders to whomever he thinks wants to listen to his bullshit. And apparently you're one of them.

And as far as the military goes,  do you have the slightest inkling of what trump is advocating? There's something called the law. Trump thinks he can give unlawful orders to our military forces and they will follow his f****** ridiculous Harebrained orders? Are you kidding me?? You cannot possibly be that dense, General. You cannot possibly be that dense.

In one of his answers to a question regarding Muslim terrorists he stated that we would have to take out their families. As much as the vengeful side of me agrees, it is a war crime to do as he suggested.

Exactly! And torturing "far worse than waterboarding, because they deserve it." I'm sorry, but this guy, who dodged the draft in Vietnam, and proclaimed John McCain a loser for being a p.o.w, is full of s***. He's a pig.

How is a 45% tariff insane? There's plenty of precedent for it. Much of it from the Republican Party in fact. Here's a recent one at 256% to protect what's left of our steel industry:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-22/u-s-commerce-department-to-put-256-tariff-on-chinese-steel

Free trade is not conservative, you've just been brainwashed into thinking it is over the last 30 years after hearing it parroted over and over on talk radio. In reality, it only became part of the GOP's platform in response to corporations that wished to manufacture outside the US, yet import into the US and have access to the domestic market as though they were a domestic company. Tariffs are also the only constitutional way to fund the federal government, you can't call yourself a constitutionalist and say otherwise.

What's wrong with a trade war with China? We run the largest trade deficit in human history with them. They import next to nothing from us, and what little they do import they charge 18-22 percent tariffs on, and we import huge amounts of goods from them at almost no tariff at all.

More specifically, I believe many confuse capitalism with free trade.

Subtract ag and commodity exports, which provide few and low value domestic jobs, from the US trade balance and US exports are a f'ing joke.  Any country getting into a trade war with the US is cutting their own throat; we have little left to lose. I dislike most of Trump's positions, but on the economy he's dead on target. We are the world's trade patsy.  US consumers virtually support Asian mfrg while their college grad kid drives for Dominos. The list of our stupid trade-related deals is endless.  Cruz and Rubio peddle platitudes to the soft-headed but are just shills for the multinational pirates.  Oh yeah...we'll dismantle the IRS! Sure thing. Wise up.

While the nation and the world watch the Republican Party implode, GOP leaders don't seem to have a clue how they might recover what's left of their party.  They must be in serious denial.  Between their disastrous presidential campaign and their continued obstructionist tactics on the nomination of a Supreme Court justice, do they really expect voters to support their candidates for the Senate and House?  Simple-minded pundits claim Trump has brought more voters to the Republican party, but they can't assume these same voters will support Republican candidates in other races.  We might all be fucked, as coaster says, but the Republican Party is fucked and finished.

Complete and utter bullshit, every last word of it.  Free trade is a cornerstone of the modern American Conservative ideology, as embodied by St. Ronnie:

September 23, 1985

"Thank you very much, and welcome to the White House. I'm pleased to have this opportunity to be with you to address the pressing question of America's trade challenge for the eighties and beyond. And let me say at the outset that our trade policy rests firmly on the foundation of free and open markets -- free trade. I, like you, recognize the inescapable conclusion that all of history has taught: The freer the flow of world trade, the stronger the tides for human progress and peace among nations.

I certainly don't have to explain the benefits of free and open markets to you. They produce more jobs, a more productive use of our nation's resources, more rapid innovation, and a higher standard of living. They strengthen our national security because our economy, the bedrock of our defense, is stronger. I'm pleased that the United States has played the critical role of ensuring and promoting an open trading system since World War II. And I know that if we ever faltered in the defense and promotion of the worldwide free trading system, that system will collapse, to the detriment of all.

...

But I do not want to let this discussion pass without reminding all of our ultimate purpose: the expansion of free and open markets everywhere. There are some, well-meaning in motive, who have proposed bills and programs that are purely protectionist in nature. These proposals would raise the costs of the goods and services that American consumers across the land would have to pay. They would invite retaliation by our trading partners abroad; would in turn lose jobs for those American workers in industries that would be the victims of such retaliation; would rekindle inflation; would strain international relations; and would impair the stability of the international financial and trading systems. The net result of these counterproductive proposals would not be to protect consumers or workers or farmers or businesses. In fact, just the reverse would happen. We would lose markets, we would lose jobs, and we would lose our prosperity.

...

Let me summarize: Our commitment to free trade is undiminished. We will vigorously pursue our policy of promoting free and open markets in this country and around the world. We will insist that all nations face up to their responsibilities of preserving and enhancing free trade everywhere. But let no one mistake our resolve to oppose any and all unfair trading practices. It is wrong for the American worker and American businessman to continue to bear the burden imposed by those who abuse the world trading system. We do not want a trade war with other nations; we want other nations to join us in enlarging and enhancing the world trading system for the benefit of all. We do not want to stop other nations from selling goods in the United States; we want to sell more of our goods to other nations. We do not dream of protecting America from others' success; we seek to include everyone in the success of the American dream.

Thank you very much, and thank you for coming."

Note: The President spoke at 11:30 a.m. in the East Room at the White House. Also attending the meeting were Members of Congress, the Cabinet, the President's Export Council, and the Advisory Committee on Trade Negotiations. Clayton Yeutter was the United States Trade Representative.
