And what's up with all of Trump's contributions to Hillary, Democrats, Republicans and anyone else in politics who could do him favors over the years? Says he, it was just business. That shut everyone up, despite the fact that he was himself one of the corrupting special interests he now complains about. But, you know, he's flexible. Fuggedaboutdit.
Know what they call a large business that won't "play ball" in Washington?  Out-of-business.  I played the earmark shakedown game with Congressmen for years.  Its a virtual necessity for businesses reliant on govt contracts and funding.  The more you contribute, the bigger the earmark.  They're all on the take but its OK because its "just" campaign contris. Earmarks are technically gone, so now they run a simple extortion racket.  Trump is a big player in a business deeply entangled with regulators and municipal politics,  and he had to play ball or he'd have been out of business.  The new buzzword is PayGo; if you don't pay, you don't go.

So now Trump is flexible and regarding his latest flip-flop, he now sees the need for many H1B visas. What's the next issue he will be flexible on?  The wall? Maybe we will now pay for the wall. The deportation of illegals?   Higher taxes for the middle class?  He is no better than most of the politicians in DC and at least they are not authoritarians.  Wake up, folks. He is just another corporatist.

His position on the H1B issue has been posted for weeks, and is not in opposition to what he stated last night.

Less than that, tariffing didn't drop to nominal levels until the 1950's. Free trade didn't begin entering GOP politics in a major way in the US until the 1980's. It's always, however, been present on the Democrat side all the way back to Jefferson. If they'd have had their way instead of Washington and Alexander Hamilton's tariffing, the US would have never developed into an industrial nation at all. As Adam Smith noted, rich countries get that way because of manufacturing, and we've foolishly squandered ours away because of free trade.
Look, we both agree that Reagan was the worst thing to happen to the US economy in centuries - I'll concede you that point.  However, if your contention is that conservatives are wholly incapable of consistency in principle or belief, and simply change positions when it us convenient for them, then I would humbly suggest that you might be a liberal.

Yeah that's the bad kind of capitalism.  Nobody but the bad guys win.

Trump just builds nice hotels, golf courses, condos, and casinos.  People get jobs.  Property values go up. Things look nice.   Good experiences for working families to learn skills, work good jobs, etc.  That's the good type.

Yeah, that include all the cheap labor he brings in? How about all the businesses he drove into the ground? Thousands of people and small businesses were badly hurt by Trump`s incompetence and total indifference. You know, if you can`t sell booze, steaks, and gambling in this country, you probably shouldn`t brag about being a "fantastic, amazing" businessman.

Right, Little Marco a Senator who was arrested in a car with a gay porn producer, where they were at a public park used by gay men to cruise for other gay men, with an insatiable desire for frequenting Foam Parties at gay night clubs is better.  Not to mention a do nothing Senator who didn't show up and do his job and ranks #1 for missing votes?

Then you have booger eater BusTED who claims he is a constitutionalist, but is everything but that.  This is someone no one likes because of his dirty tricks, and his dishonesty.  Senator Jeff Sessions endorsed Donald Trump over BusTED, who was thought to be BusTED's most trusted ally.  Hell, his own kids can't stand to be around him.

These comments reflect the average IQ of many Trump voters.  Around 60, I would suspect, and I'm being generous.  Apologies to SFA, GS, MV and others,  I would not put you guys in that camp.

Yeah right.

I have taken a number of online IQ tests and they are always a solid 79.  So you can take that 60 and cram it mister.

The guy is such a walking contradiction. He wants everything made here, but his products are made in China. He talks like the biggest Hawk out there in wanting to take oil fields and have military strength but then talks about how much of a disaster the wars have been and then starts talking like an isolationist. He talks like a stereotypical "free market"  but then wants to put restrictions on what business operate.

That probably the strangest of the whole thing, he doesn't really stand for anything and his supporters don't seem to care. It's like they don't know or car what the job of Prez is? I remember a rally the Trump misspoke and said he was for something instead of against it (which I give him the benefit of the doubt, doing so much live rallies a misspeak can happen) but what was really strange is the the crowd reacted positive for Trump saying he was for something, even though it was a misspeak and he meant to say against it. It like a bunch of Trump supporters don't even know what they believe in. I hear so many times Trump supporters interviewed and they seem to like the guy's personality but hardly ever mentions specific of what he will bring to the position.

Trump supporters seem almost like teenage girls who like the Kardashians, they are fans but what do the Karashians actually do or accomplish. It's kind of like Trump, he's got no political resume to speak of, he has no past successes in the political world on any level, he doesn't have a history of political beliefs and his current agenda is paper thin and inconsistent. But Trump supports seem to have a crush on him but no substance behind it.

The whole Trump phenomenon is pretty mindless. I think that for many if not most of his supporters, backing him is like giving a giant middle finger to whoever or whatever it is you don't like or just plain hate.

You don't really need to listen to what he's saying or worry about what he's going to do, you're just getting off on the notion that somebody like you who also thinks with their lizard brain might get into power as POTUS. That's almost the ultimate vicarious power trip for anyone who feels like they don't have any power and wants to stick it to the powers that be. Basically, it's like a bunch of angry teenagers looking to show Mom and Dad who's boss.

Too harsh? Sorry, but that's my theory. This last debate, complete with the cheers and whistles, was an all-time low for Trump The Magnificent and his dumb but loyal hordes.

I hope people start waking up and seeing that while its enlightening to have someone who doesn't give a crap about political constructiveness and is an outsider, Trump is in no way divorced from the corrupt system we have in business and politics. It's only in this messed up day and age that someone who filed for bankruptcy 4 times can still be called a successful businessman. Trump University was a huge scam and (why rich people need to scam the common folk for more money is beyond me) who knows what he said 'off the record' but he is looking just as bad as Hillary at this point.

Hilary Clinton    -1500
Bernie Sanders +700

That is so tempting to place a bet on Sanders.

Or does BusTED give you a few copies from his stash of 80's Teen Tit Films, or pay you in boogers from his nose?

You will cry out for mercy, but no mercy or quarter shall be given.

Sturdy yourselves, castigation is coming.

Friends, I have changed my position slightly.  I will show you mercy today.

That would be Richard Nixon, not Reagan. China should not have been made into the manufacturing powerhouse that it is. Nixon's objectives of getting China to accept capitalism worked to a degree, but it cost us dearly in manufacturing jobs.

I am a liberal in some ways. I don't do religious-based social conservatism for example. But yes, they changed positions on free trade and tariffing over the course of the 20th century in order to favor companies that wished to leave the US, yet still have unfettered access to US markets. It was a huge hoodwink of rank and file "conservatives" perpetrated by the establishment on the behalf of special interests.

Every country - even China will eventually succumb to unions, workers' rights, and environmental restrictions. It's taking China a while but you can already see industrial movement to other countries like Vietnam. In another 10 to 20 years, Africa will be last bastian of cheap slave labor.

That's been the model, these countries end up like Japan where they have an economic boom while the labor is cheap, then as they develop their goods get increasingly expensive until finally their economies stagnate and they can't compete with the new source of cheap labor. However, this equation is changing. As we gain the technology to increasingly automate factories, the cheap labor factor drops out completely. As a result, Africa will never get its chance as a cheap labor source. Instead, the Chinese will just automate everything over the next 10-20 years.

What's happening is Trump's lack of any depth or substance has created a huge vacuum and every conceivable group from disparate corners of the nation is stepping up to fill his void with their own agenda.

“When Donald Trump first announced he would run for president, my view of Trump was 'he's a scoundrel.' But then he started talking, and I realized that I liked what he was saying. I decided to tailor my approach to promote Donald Trump."
