Thank goodness CNN reminded me to ignore my mother tomorrow. I would not want to risk her life by having lunch or dinner with her. After all, there were people who all got sick by attending a birthday party in California. Seems like a good reason to never see anybody ever again (aside from at the Home Depot, the grocery store, the Pizza shop and Costco where I get to wait in line with perfect strangers...)

"In Pasadena, California, officials put out a warning after tracing a cluster of cases back to a birthday party, and in Louisiana the department of health recommended celebration alternatives -- like virtual brunch.

"Resist the temptation to hug your mom and maintain six feet of separation," the Louisiana Department of Public Health said. "

It is also worth noting that Fauci will be doing a modified quarantine. "While Fauci was not in close proximity to the person, he said he will spend the next two weeks working from home and wearing a mask, adding he may go to his office, where he will be alone." I suppose that if I am exposed that my quarantine will allow me to go to my office as well?

This shit is getting old.

I remember the good old days when we would all gather around and sing while someone blew out the fire on top of a cake. Pagan tradition.

I'm looking forward to the official formation of The Department of Social Distancing, Mask Compliance, and All-Around Hassling of Proles.

Interesting timing but not surprising from that slimebag.

At least she’s now catching on. That gnome Fauci has also fucked things up. Remember he’s the one who said everyone was equally likely to get AIDS. And probably had to hammer Sally Quinn.

Hehehe who will free us from this boobery?!

But I am heartened to see someone at her level seems to have embraced the lock-up-the-old-and-fat approach:

QuoteShe continued: "To keep with this trend, it is essential that seniors and those with comorbidities shelter in place and that we continue to protect vulnerable communities."

Just got back from the Home Depot - needed a couple of small things.  Mrs. Walks insisted I use the curbside pickup.
What a goat screw that is.  You have to line up under the awning down in the lumber section.  Then roll down the window and give the dude that shambles out your order number.  He shuffles off for 15 minutes then comes out with your bag of gnarl and gives it to you.  Meanwhile there are packs of dudes hanging out under that awning.  Smoking, spitting, swearing and yukking it up.  Masks on none of them.   Just creating a virus cauldron plume.

Would have been safer just to walk in and get whatever normally.

I like the personal "comorbidities" touch, but you'll most likely be rung-up as just another run-of-the-mill Corona Chan victim, if you achieve room temperature.  "Death by stroke, never heard of it... put it on Corona Chan's back...naow.  Next!"

Right, breaking quarantine for "a couple of small things" you're supposed to sit at home and watch tv.  I bet you stopped for a Mr. Misty on the way back, didn't you?

The thing is, there is arguably a public-health purpose served by inflating the numbers in that it causes people, politicians and regular folks, to take it more seriously and comply with the mostly voluntary orders.  I think a lot of the fudging and fearmongering is justified in their minds by that aim.  But it ain't coldly dispassionate science at that point.

Just like the stupid orders closing beaches.  They know people will break them but more people will stay home than if they didn't order them shut, so they do it.  It's herding, which is nonsensical if you look at the individual case of a person walking alone on a sunny beach but sort of makes sense in aggregate.  They're not talking to you; they're talking to society.

Meanwhile, the Pasadena case dutifully trotted out to suppress Mother's Day in the same way the church-choir case from Anacortes was flogged around Easter is interesting:

QuoteThe first person from the party identified with the disease, which is caused by the coronavirus, was coughing and not wearing a face covering at the event, according to the Pasadena Public Health Department. Other guests also did not wear face coverings or practice social distancing, investigators said.

https://www.pasadenastarnews.com/2020/05/09/pasadena-identifies-at-least-5-coronavirus-cases-from-single-birthday-party/

The party was back in April sometime.  Results?

QuoteCity spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said five people “that we know of” â€" the five whose cases have been confirmed â€" were tested for COVID-19. As of Saturday morning, there were not any pending test results from the party.

As for the “many more” individuals who are ill, Derderian could not provide a specific number but said, “several people have reported symptoms but weren’t tested.”

Derderian said the city referred those people to the Rose Bowl testing site and recommended they quarantine, but Pasadena does not have the regulatory authority to require them to do so.

So the freshly minted coofers are just told to do basically what they're supposed to have been doing all along.  This is just ritual public shaming at this point, since the contract tracers have no teeth.  But as a tool to get people to comply, it's all they've got.

Compare to places in Europe where, if you are officially quarantined, a policeman checks on you once a day to make sure you're home.

Some might suggest that the 'packs of dudes hanging out' were the real target of your 'curb* side pickup'.

* It's really 'kerb', but we can't expect accurate spelling, for obviously reasons.

Hi, baby!  I'm glad you didn't die yet.  You must be chuffed the Pearly Kings are back in style.  I'm making Chelsea Buns later; the currants are steeping in the tea.

Not really looking for spelling advice from a guy that has a mini-stroke everytime he has to say the word "schedule".

Hey K_Dubb.   Billy Idol has your scarf and is totally rocking it while ordering a 5 dollar footlong here in N.C.

The shaming of the proles.  I'm glad shaming works so well on politicians and the propaganda ministry.

Ugh no that is the most basic of wraps, suitable only for would-be banditti.  He should have watched the videos.  And quasi-fatigues are so 2015; only douchebags wear them now.

Gads, they look like they've been embalmed and wrapped in cellophane.  Sans stylish gloves is a definite Corona Chan faux pas.

I went to Target. A large number of people wore their masks in the Sheila Jackson Lee manner - below the nose but covering the mouth. An equal number wore the masks on their chins with both mouth and nose exposed. Explain that.

Good catch on the gloves, girl!  Especially since I thnk it was Dior showing opera gloves for men just last season -- a real missed style opportunity.
