The kicker is that each gun has been registered to a certain owner. The laws around restricted firearms are quite clear, and if you break them, they remove your "right" to buy any more and ban you from owning any.

The government has each persons address and what gun they have that is now "prohibited." I suspect most people will wait until they really start cracking down (presumably there will be a period before they call in the swat team) and will hope that the Liberals get booted and sanity returns.

But yeah. What is the alternative? Use your one gun against the swat team? I'm sure a few will be "lost" or "stolen" before the end of this...
That is why gun registration is such a bad deal. And so is banning private sales, inheritance, gun shows, and so on. Because even though they claim it will only be used to fight crime, id stolen guns, etc the lists will eventually be used at some future date by the government to seize guns or used by a foreign invading power to identify who has guns.

Unlicensed?
By Allah, these pernicious pattern pirates will soon get a taste of my shoe!

Jeez. Stealing from Pate is worse than making fake Louis Vutton bags.  >:(

I should probably continue this in the gun thread... But there are also unregistered versions of the guns that are not "prohibited." I forget the barrel length- 19"? So, you can now have a gun that was not only legal yesterday, but not even subject to registration (if it was classed a "long gun") and that you could have used for hunting that today is prohibited.

What makes this great is that it is all because the current Canadian dictator does not like guns.

Not quite sure how laughing about Forbes being so spun up against Jones for a classic Jonesism that they think he'll be in history books makes me a hater.
I get a kick out of his some of his rants.  Any respect I had left for modern journalism was dissipated when Rather got fired for pimping forged documents.

OK, so you actually get that a lot of times he’s just joking around, being hyperbolic, etc. Fair enough. I mean, I get why people sometimes think he may be Hicks. He can be as funny as that guy sometimes and usually the left take it seriously and get triggered so it’s win, win.

Isn't there some provisions or case law regarding ex-post facto prohibitions or 'grandfathering' in of some item that was formerly legal? And this ban was just 'proclaimed' or did Parliament, or people vote on it? Was it brought in using some kind of emergency proviso due to Corona-Chan?

I could see the virus being used for all kinds of legal and social changes. Here in the States they are already using Corona-Chan to shut schools, arbitrarily say what businesses can operate, restrict travel, restrict gun, restrict medical and dental procedures, can't go to parks, can't fish, force "one direction" walking and only one ingress/egress at stores, government and court shut-downs, no church services, no political protests, forced mask wearing (I think this last one could pose a problem for 'them' if the people finally get sick of things or get desperate though the eye, gait, and smartphone tracking will still let "them" identify and track you.) And now there is talk of "contact tracers" and bonuses for snitching on people.

Meanwhile, I went out back to my beloved alley to bend the elbow a little bit.  It was rife with illegal pickleball matches - along with people sitting out in lawn chairs enjoying the gorgeous weather, drinking themselves and I think maybe even gambling on the damn pickleball matches. Then there even guys out playing catch - I was hailed and offered a chance to join them but resisted and followed my Governor's and Thorogood's wishes by retreating into the garage and drinking alone.

Ha. You are your own best friend. And what is wrong with having some drinks with a friend?

I've seen more people outside walking, playing catch, riding bikes, going to the creek to fish, training their dogs, shooting hoops, out in the neighborhood than ever before. Now I suspect now that we are getting into the 90s that some of the activity will cease, except more action on the lakes. But the lockdown is having a reserve effect on many people. Who used the forced time off school/work to go outside. And now people of all ages are beginning to say f-this and Iresume normal life.
ps: only pickle-ball here I see in advertisements for Senior Living Centers. I never even heard of this game except for those commercials and still not quite sure what it entails. Some of these places though sound more like a resort than a retirement home of the traditional "send mom to the home so I can sell the house" variety.  Happy hours, movie theaters, pickleball, pools, executive golf course, tennis, restaurants, etc.

It's like tennis with a frying pan for a racket and a wiffle ball. Keeps you moving I guess.

I'm guessing you're not willing to sacrifice yourself for the economy. You want other people to do it, while you hide behind your keyboard. Trump is tweeting about the ratings of his press briefings. He's out of his damn mind.
Actually, I'm an Essential.  Try again.

All it takes is one Patriot to make his stand.  Then when the gun grabbers start ending up in body bags they might not be so keen to enforce such a BS law.

Well, this certainly looks like fun.

Maybe that guy is just an entrepreneurial mobile dentist doing root canals and such for cash on the streets to avoid taxation, insurance paperwork, and proper licensing?

Heh, let's hope this doesn't give the U.S. left new ideas for "dental care for all. "

The county I live in is currently receiving a D for a grade on fighting off Corona-Chan.  Yep.  A big ole Dog.   I blame it on the illegal Pickle Ball crew out back in the alley..............

How is yours doing thread?

Current location is striding a county with D+ and an F. D+though! Heading out to the lake tomorrow because county has a solid D due to the social distancing of fishing, wake boarding, and jetskis, I guess.

What's the confidence grade for the unacast social distancing scoreboard?  Does it receive a "Mother Teresa" vote of confidence or is it closer to a Major Doom fail?

gas at 1.46

Have some conflicted views when hydrocarbons go low due to family n investments and hitting gen TX econ hard but also would like to exploit and enjoy the cheap downstream prices but "they" ban stuff. Well it is starting to open. Heading out to lake tomorrow to burn some gas. Would be a good time for roadtrip. Except places closed. Are Nat Forests or lakes closed up there? If not time to do have some fun!

Heck, just hit the road and enjoy the drive, along with any scenery.
