I watched a recent episode of Drugs, Inc. that asserted there's almost no MDMA in what's being sold as molly these days. It's all different cocktails that provide similar enough effects so most people don't even notice.

A lot of States have "controlled substance analogue" laws so that the whack a mole ends if they are working off the 3-4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine chain. Not sure what the Federal law is. But a lot of this Chinese stuff isn't related to MDMA at all, so could be legal, but trying to mimic the effects via other chemicals. Also, which I think why certain drugs should be legal or at minimum decriminalized, kids have no idea what drug they are really taking when they buy the 'synthetic' weed, Ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, etc and getting stuff that is even worse. Or things like doctors/first-responders don't know how to handle or identify if they OD or go crazy.
