First time listening and I'm liking it. Interesting guest, logical (and informal) fallacies are interesting, as is perception and psychology. Though guest should address the problems found in the oft-vaunted peer-review and even replication problems, especially in psychology, but even in 'real' sciences and medicine.

My reaction, if I were to react, which I wouldn't on Facebook, to the political name calling, would be "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me."  You can't reason with name callers.  They are not at all sceptical of their own brainwashing, and cannot bring themselves to give the opposing opinion any validity.  I think their identity is tied into belonging to a group with a belief system.  Most of it is a result of being unaware of the participation of their own ego IMO.

His research was sound but revolutionary for the times and so it was roundly ignored or ridiculed and rejected by the medical and scientific community at large. It would take decades for his ideas to gain wide acceptance.

Yeah that is a great example. There are many and like most things, afterwards after decades or whatever, a person now says "common-sense" or "I could've figured that out" and maybe not appreciate the ground-breaking advances because so accepted now and "obvious!"

Just trying to keep things in perspective. That's sometimes important to understanding the truth too. The health problems caused by snake oils pale in comparison to well researched pharmaceuticals. Though I'm all for further research into alternatives.
