Thank you for posting this chefist!  8)   It's another one of those movies that sticks in my mind and most don't remember.  Glad someone else does.  ;)

I was actually staying with my family at the same hotel with the cast and crew of this movie when it was filmed in Carlsbad, NM. My family was in the only suite that was not with the movie production and we would get woken up at 6am for casting call until the crew figured this out. We got to know everybody well and I would swim most days with Cornel Wilde's young kid while his dad was shooting. Bernie Casey, former NFL player, played the lead gargoyle dude. The really weird thing is that one year later we checked back into the same suite just in time to watch the television premiere of the movie.

I remember watching that on one of the networks that started running "movie of the week" series.  This one, starring Karen Black, was well written.  Good and scary.  I should be watched with the lights ON!
;) ;D

Wow, Aldous!  How cool is that?  Way Cool!!!

New Mexico is a beautiful State.  The few times I have been through there I could always feel this 'Ethereal' kind of Energy, especially in Four Corners.  It's one of my favorite States on our Nation.

One of my favorite movies of all time. I wish they'd do a remake, but this is pretty impressive for 1972.

Yeah, that was weird, especially because the movie came on just as we checked in and I turned on the tv. I guess I was 11 yrs old at the time. It was one of those odd coincidences that turned me into a synchronicity aficionado, believing that there must be some cosmic teaching or purpose behind such events. I'm older now of course and have come to realize that these types of things have only one purpose; to blow your fucking mind. And mine has been quite well blown indeed.

I miss tv movies. Some of them were cheesey but some of them are pretty good. They also have some nostalgia to them. The youtubes and various websites often have them (I guess nobody really concerned with copyrights on those?)

( Amy )

Okay, took me awhile to compile your homework for this weekend.  ;D

This is Monday's guest, Dr. Philip Lubin. He's the guy with the idea and roadmap being backed by Yuri Milner with blessings of Stephen Hawking for the Breakthrough Starshot Initiative to send probes to Alpha Centauri and beyond. His research could see overnight deliveries made to Mars, and see manned trips reduced from 6 months down to a month.

We'll talk about his exciting story, Breakthrough Starshot, SETI, experimental cosmology, and more!

Lots of links and videos on the show page:

That's all cool but wasn't it Hawking who also said that we might want to be careful notifying ETs of our existence, just in case they don't turn out to be the friendlies we imagine in movies like ET.  ???   :o

If they were here and wanted to do us harm, we would be gone already. If they just wanted to study us, we would never know they were here. If they just wanted to stick probes up our butts, they would then exclusively visit Berlin, Rio or San Francisco.

Tru dat...but what if we attract some baddies who didn't know about us till the probes alerted them to our existence. Basically, I'm for this but it is something to consider.  ;)
