I think I feel very much as you do.  Part of me- the pre-apocalypse human side of me wishes her the best.  I don't think she has done anything to harm anyone- and if there are people out there who want to pay to subscribe, she must be filling some sort of a void.  I will say that is not me- but who am I to deprive Paul and Ella of their enjoyment?  I'm sure she is a little manipulative, but I have yet to meet anybody who does not use some manipulation at points in their life.  Pretty much everything negative is conjecture, and I can't wish her ill based on what I have observed.  I am curious how fragile those who genuinely wish her ill posting here must be to feel that she wronged them to the point they want her life ruined must be.

With that said, the part of me looking through the lens of my gas mask is getting a hell of a kick out of all of this and hopes it will not end- it has provided too many great laughs.  I'm off to find some non-irradiated popcorn.

BTW- Congrats on kicking your habit- I'm sticking with mine.

Marijuana.

I don’t care much for the taste. I’ve ingested, but never smoked. The thought of eating any more makes me nauseous. :(

What, no doughnuts?  If the squirrels in my neighborhood see me with a doughnut, they practically rip it from my hand.

Too much booze does that to me. I drink but VERY moderately. Lately, I've been nursing a bottle of Jagermeister but only because the cap got stripped and won't tighten anymore. ;)

Awesome! I hope he buries her in ratings and he gets lots of advertisers and sues her into oblivion. Good Morning all. Storming like crazy here.

I wonder if he realized his well-meaning mentorship would be wildly over-interpreted as a call to become the official embodiment and legacy of everything he was.  Heather was beyond a super-fan and he probably had no clue that his casual words of advice were like sacred texts passed to her from on high (or in Nye).

It was in her nature; she can't help it.  I think she's been confused by doing vs. being from way before she met Art.  Art poked the paranormal with a stick; she donned it like a robe.  He thought about it; she LARPed it.  Not surprising, then, that, to her, assuming his legacy is a matter of sitting in the seat, playing the music, trying to sound like him.  No attempt to cultivate the reading, sardonic humor, or curiosity -- those don't even register.

I'm actually surprised, all this time I thought you were weed-friendly whitecrow. Every time I've ever heard your voice, I thought you were stoned.

I have yet to attempt to describe Bellgab to anybody.  In the interest of saving time when you make the attempt, have you considered interpretive dance?

The dancing helps best if done while wearing an appropriate costume.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, you clueless butt muncher.

And that would be whose lapse in judgment then, Heather's or Art's, you obsessive mental tapeworm?

Meanwhile Mr. Schrader's taking what seems to be a very sober approach, just the opposite of the above.

As much as I want to see Heather do the right thing and abide by her agreement, I doubt she will. Unfortunately I don't think litigation is the answer. In my experience, most times, the only "winner" out of these types of situations are the attorneys. I think Keith probably has to proceed legally but the best outcome for DMDN is for MITD to succeed. Heather's new show won't because it didn't before and she's not willing or able to do it any differently.

Heather (or Lasha) must of done a great sales job on Vara to get him to mix up in this mess. Maybe it's just egos taking over.  In any case we'll see who's left standing at the end of the year.

Nice observation, K_Dubb.  "assuming his legacy is a matter of sitting in the seat, playing the music, trying to sound like him"...

MV gave HW good advice on the most recent GabCast - just be yourself.  You may not be great at it, but at least we're not all hammering you for thinking you are the legacy.  Art's legacy is his own.  We're on BG mostly because of that.  Whether it's Fr. M. Martin, Mel's Hole, Y2K, etc. - that's the legacy.  Even the quittenings.  We've all said it - Art could make most any topic interesting and have you thinking "yea, maybe that is possible...".

Paul and Ella won't be able to save her, unless they are secretly high-power attorneys.

I had to Google the 1900s Great Ape jaz as well. I knew it was only a half story/truth, but needed to check details before I started typing like some half-witted Gorilla. Cryptos always trot out the fallacy "We didn't know about X critter untill." As if that makes some yet unknown animal more or less likely to exists.

All the while there are literally millions of "undiscovered" plants, insects, & animals. All known quantities, awaiting discovery/classification. Which at this point in my life is far more amazing than my childhood love affair with cryptids. Especially when it's attached to a bunch of retreaded hacks peddling vaporware, over getting honest work. Falkies with a slightly better grift.

A discovery that grabbed my attention/imagination was Flores Man, yet almost no one seems to know/care about it. At times people seem fixated on the magic in the static, over substance.

It's bleak out there, though, kitty.  Before the latest drama I wholly abandoned paranormal late-night listening for science lectures, where I have encountered your hobbit.  On the whole, though, scientists make for deadly dull listening -- studious avoidance of speculation, whole presentations on statistical analyses that used to be relegated to footnotes, new discoveries that turn out to be "it's more complicated than we thought" retrenchment rather than advancement.  All the while I know these guys got into that profession for a reason, and that their conversation over drinks must be astonishing.

I'm getting a 504 gateway timeout on Midnightinthedesert.com. Keith might be doing an overhaul. Or Lasha has brought it down with Canuck Magik.

That’s funny! I have had to explain Art so I can explain bellgab. God I have great patient friends. Lol.

Nice, PBS - we get that !

I started dating my wife 3 years ago at the start of MITD, so I had to explain Art Bell and BellGab to her.  Of course, that means explaining Dark Matter because of the streaming "issues" and non-compete ending.  It's impossible to explain to outsiders, right ?  I tried MV's explanation of the GabCast, LOL.  Good thing she is patient.  Or just tunes me out like any good spouse - we both have prior marriage experience.  ;)

A perfectly-encapsulated insight sir.  You've got me thinking about that wizard guy, remember him, who actually wore robes and carried a staff and tried to build his own unicorn.
