Which was always an anomaly.  How many networks have their flagship show run overnight?  The only reason MITD was the flagship was Art Bell.  On any other schedule the flagship would be one of those running in an earlier slot.

Now the anomaly continues because Mr. Schrader is a blue chip.  If there's anyone there who could be said to be Bell's legacy, it's Schrader.  But if the schedule could be moved around such that MITD became Early Edition in the Desert, would that not be an opp'ty to pick up affiliates?  In fact Ms. Wade could even be the closing act each night, something for the West Coasters to wind down with after the affiliates sign off the network.

-On topic- Everyone here was manipulated including heather (and shes still be used) and the human side of me feels sorry for everyone involved- The Penguin side thinks its funny though and is making popcorn.

I think I feel very much as you do.  Part of me- the pre-apocalypse human side of me wishes her the best.  I don't think she has done anything to harm anyone- and if there are people out there who want to pay to subscribe, she must be filling some sort of a void.  I will say that is not me- but who am I to deprive Paul and Ella of their enjoyment?  I'm sure she is a little manipulative, but I have yet to meet anybody who does not use some manipulation at points in their life.  Pretty much everything negative is conjecture, and I can't wish her ill based on what I have observed.  I am curious how fragile those who genuinely wish her ill posting here must be to feel that she wronged them to the point they want her life ruined.

With that said, the part of me looking through the lens of my gas mask is getting a hell of a kick out of all of this and hopes it will not end- it has provided too many great laughs.  I'm off to find some non-irradiated popcorn.

I had to Google the 1900s Great Ape jaz as well. I knew it was only a half story/truth, but needed to check details before I started typing like some half-witted Gorilla. Cryptos always trot out the fallacy "We didn't know about X critter untill." As if that makes some yet unknown animal more or less likely to exists.

All the while there are literally millions of "undiscovered" plants, insects, & animals. All known quantities, awaiting discovery/classification. Which at this point in my life is far more amazing than my childhood love affair with cryptids. Especially when it's attached to a bunch of retreaded hacks peddling vaporware, over getting honest work. Falkies with a slightly better grift.

A discovery that grabbed my attention/imagination was Flores Man, yet almost no one seems to know/care about it. At times people seem fixated on the magic in the static, over substance.

Just want to say for the record, I think the way Dave S handled the Art recognition thing was perfect.  It was on his first nite and he simply talked a bit about Art's influence on him and on radio in general.  Just a respectful nod to the past, and an affirmation to carry on in the same spirit.  Short and sweet. 

Meanwhile over at MITD2 HQ they're gearing up for a week-long wallowing in maudlin nostalgia.  Get ready for more chest-thumping, group hugs, and sentimental smiles through the tears, jeez enough already.
