Unfortunately that's what it sounds like.  Someone early in the show commented on Menges's sounding too diffuse; wasn't immediately apparent to me, but turns out to be so.

There is always thorium.

Well, and Lockheed-Martin's compact fusion system that will render all fossil fuel and nuclear fission energy systems obsolete in about a decade.

Thorium has a lot of potential, especially now that we have composite materials that can be used for piping that won't corrode in saltwater. These were looked at for the nuclear Navy, but there were two downsides. Corrosion and they don't produce plutonium. The government wanted plutonium for warheads. India has a robust thorium reactir research program. Each neighborhood could have its own reactor about the size of a refrigertor which would help decentralize the grid. The biggest advantage is that no fissionable marerials are created in a thorium reactir and they use saltwater instead of heavy water. I think these have a lot of potential.

My tune in keeps dropping. No big loss, I take it.  Better work for Hoaxie, though

Awarness isn't a solution. "Awareness" has become it's own industry. A very profitable industry...

I'm getting tired of the news lady sounding like a smartphone.

I wonder when Art is going to quit doing commercials.

Too soon?

Hopefully the reason they seemed to have given up on thorium is because fusion is getting close.

Yup, the issue is the guest pool is small, sometimes ya get a great one like Mels hole or Mad Man Markem, but ya go though tons of shit before the magic moment happens.
People dont remember but Art had some shit guests in the 90's, but he was the only guy doing this shit, now the market is saturated with TONS of paranormal talk.
Only so many guests to be recycled.

We had a long-time morning DJ here that retired and did commercials for several years. Not bad work if you can get it.

Regarding Heather's "what ifs":  pick your poison.  As Dr. Menges has pointed out so well tonight, infrastructures in a variety of industries are in various states of dysfunction.  To add injury to insult, most hospitals are under mega-corporate management and being run by MBAs, not doctors.  On any given day across the US most ERs are already full with patients waiting hours to be treated.  In the event of a major multi-casualty disaster...we're doomed.

Oh wait, BellGab shoutout!!
