Besides just being spiritual she is authentic in her vast knowledge, which in my opinion is lacking these days on these worthy topics. I felt that was a clear intent and sadly it got lost at times when the train started moving. I personally appreciate the rich history on subjects as opposed to this diluted wave of a 'new age' hello kitty packaging that is everywhere these days.  That rich knowledge is needed. It's also very instrumental in the day to day human experience. It doesn't have to be heady but a balance many can find worth in on an individual level. Because I've been busy and also 3 am just can't be done, I've only heard a few shows. The further delving in astrology, spirit/psi attacks, kundalini, shielding, energy work was right on the money. I also believe someone suggested a wonderful range and there is a lot there that many of us (paranormal related) were hungry for.

NXO... Absofuckinglutely. Rock on.

Wow... I go away for a couple of weeks and come back to this.  To be completely honest, I liked Bella-Haven as it was.  I did call in the once and mentioned that I had hoped that Lasha would have a little more time to talk on her interests.  I think that I had suggested some time put aside each night for her to talk about things.  Perhaps I am psychic and saw this coming?  (Yeah, bad humour, considering I am as psychic as I am emotional...)

I am not somebody who has ever had (nor even seen) a tarot card reading... I do not "believe" in astrology (though I will also admit that I have never really looked into it and that there may be something to it.)  I had hoped to have an expert in the field talk sometimes so that I could learn.  To me, it was the equivalent of having access to the pope (or at a minimum a cardinal or bishop) when wanting to learn about Catholicism.  As Chine had mentioned, there is no shortage of new age jackasses who chop it up to package it and sell the watered down version to the gullible.  I never saw Lasha that way and thought that it was nice to have somebody who lives what she preaches.  I thought it was great to have somebody who believed what she said and somebody I felt I could trust to deliver her thoughts on a subject where I naturally feel a deep mistrust of most practitioners.

I do not know that I would listen to a show strictly about these subjects, and that is where Nancy made a great buffer.  I also am not really comfortable talking on the phone, and was surprised that they were able to put me at ease.  Nancy has a great style and outgoing personality that helped tie everything together during the show.  There was a special chemistry.

I will listen at some point this week... However, I spent the last two weeks getting up at 6AM.  Between that and the changing of hosts, this may just be the universe telling me that it is time to try to change my schedule a little... Do I really need to be up until 3AM?

Overall, it seems like a sad situation where a show with such potential should be pushed aside.  If only I had packed some "special" goodies from Colorado when I was there... Perhaps I would partake right now to numb myself a little...

I appreciate it... I have already been there.  Like I said, I am not really somebody who "believes" it that, and would not normally seek it out.  However, it was an interesting component of the show and not something that I think you will find written down.  It was interactive and spontaneous.  Her site has lots of examples of horoscopes, but I am more interested in how she arrives at what to say and what she believes makes them work...

This is not meant to be a joke. Nancy, you must bring in George Senda as a co-host. I'd love to hear you both talk about anything and everything! I'd pay good money to hear that show and I don't think I'm alone. Ratings blockbuster!
Absolutely, Nancy- go for it.  He will bring his 5 troll fans with him and make the show unbearable to anybody who has more than three brain cells...

Astrology is not a thing one "believes" in. Astrology is merely the study of a symbolic language. There is no controversy over whether symbols are important at all when discussing human complexities, at all.

That there are those who use the study to predict the future, amplify luck, manage one's destiny, and other forms of woo-woo, is not a matter that has anything to do with astrology itself. In my experience, that shiz is real, to some definition of extent, but it is far and away not science.

There are symbolic archetypes that have existed in the human species and culture for millennia. These energies and their vectors have a sound basis in science for their existence--there is still a great deal of very reasonable debate about what it all means.

There is no reason to shy away from astrology because of a lack of interest in unsupportable fantasy. There is a massive library of scholarly research on the exact same subject from a purely "scientific" perspective--one may have heard it referred to as clinical psychology.

20 years ago, I used to believe that astrology was entirely nonsense. I now have concluded that the myth of insensibility has been deliberately promulgated by those who use astrological principles in their daily personal and business lives routinely. Fancy that, huh?

nbirnes

Bella-Haven. It was an idea, and it was tons of fun. And now, it is over. Kaput, fini, closed and shuttered. After Wednesday, it was only a matter of time. No amount of kintsugi will help.

I will PM, email, and Skype my thanks and appreciation to the wonderful people who helped in so many ways.

Sleep is great! Art Bell's show is going to take over the world! Bellgab is the best forum with the best people on the planet.

This is exactly it... I cannot rule it out as I have spent about 5 minutes looking into it.  However, I have enough other stuff in my life that actually matters to me that I actively pursue that astrology is not likely to ever make it to the list of things that I study or look at.  There may well be a massive library of material to look at, but I have absolutely no interest in wading though it.

There was somebody present on a podcast that I listened to who had spent a lifetime looking at it, wading though it and presenting it.  I thought it would be interesting to hear her take and her conclusions along with the reasons for them while listening to a show that I enjoyed.

Basically, I like learning what others believe and why- but time is limited.  If something ever really catches my interest I will look into it.  Short of that, I like hearing others talk on what interests them and what they are experts on.

I had talked with a couple of priests in the past, an imam, and a practicing Druid.  This was just one more opportunity to learn about something that I have almost no knowledge of from somebody with a deep understanding of the subject...

Truly, I am not devastated.  I have made it through my life to this point reading no more than a dozen horoscopes in a newspaper, my Chinese zodiac horoscope printed on place mats at restaurants and a few slips of paper from my fortune cookies.  I feel confident that I will make it to my death without delving much deeper into the subject... But I did think it would be fun.

I am even more sorry to hear that.  I was sorry to hear Rose had left, and now the show itself is gone.  It was a nice idea, and I may be fortunate to have missed the last two weeks for travel.  It sounds like I had caught the best part when the promise of the unknown and excitement were at a peak...

It is rare that I get invested in a show, and even more rare for me to feel like there is something special about anything coming over the internet... This show felt like "home" in some ways, and attracted some very smart, witty people.  While it is a shame to see it go, I may be able to get a few additional hours of sorely needed sleep.  This was one of the only radio shows that I have ever purposely avoided going to bed when I was tired so that I could catch it all live.

I hope that both you and Lasha are proud of the work that you put out and the enjoyment that you brought a number of us who are only vaguely lovable...

It is, in fact, a real book. It's a good ninety minutes. I would recommend a used or borrowed copy. Then, when you listen to people talk about astrology, you will actually have a framework of understanding what they are talking about.

It can be a terribly complicated subject. See above, re: "insensibility, deliberately promulgated."

After Wednesday,

I'm not sure what happened Wednesday that changed things that much, but I certainly enjoy your show and personality. Maybe you could do another show.

Wish I knew, wish I could help.. Morning coffee won't be the same for a while. But history is set, entropy won't permit change, but the future? Now thats another thing altogether. Who knows what may happen. Bella-Haven is a great idea, great show and has a loyal following. I have my hopes, but It's up to Nancy and God bless her. She will always have my support.

So say we all

Lou, maybe Nancy just needs a break.........could you sub for her for a bit possibly?  I think I can speak for us all when I say you sound intelligent, witty, fun, and enjoyable to listen too.  Very Big PLEASEY here !!

Heck, I would sub for her if I knew how, I'm just not that fast a learner, and don't have my headphones/mic etc, and talking skills.......but i would put myself out there for her if I knew how.  We are among friends, who will happily indulge our broadcasting imperfections, just to have a show.  We have a stubborn side, an extremely intelligent side,  a hillarious side, and a teamwork side.  If  you don't want to or can't, maybe we could get some volunteers here who know how, and have the gabbing skills.......MV?  Falkie?  bateman? Chefist?  ........if not, I will settle for the non-skilled.  Heck, even WhiteCrow would do it if he knew how, and we would enjoy him.

I had the impression that "group participation" after Art, for bellgabbers, was the founding principles of Bella-Haven after all, wasn't it?

Ms. C

In my opinion, Nancy did not like this thread being derailed as it was throughout last night and early this morning.  It has the same feel as the hacking that was done in the chat room on Wednesday night ...

I woke up in the middle of the night a few times .. and looked at this thread -- and when I saw what was being posted ... I was sad and it was kinda obvious that when Nancy looked and read what was going on and being said and so many 'non Bella-Haven' thingys going on .... she would say just what she did.

Perhaps she'll feel different and not want to close it all down, once she gets some rest ... and perhaps if there are ways to help UN-derail this thread --

We all know there are several of us (perhaps even more) that are total support to her ... and I'm sure she appreciates it ... but can it all get back on track?  I don't know.

bellgabbers on track?  I never heard of that before lol's  Love ya with all my heart Ms. C.  But I think those expectations are unrealistic.  Maybe expectations are the problem, I dunno, just saying.  I hope you will be willing to consider my point of view, even if I realize before hand that you certainly do not agree with it.  I think we all have to be honest here.  Not sayin' I'm right, just expressing my opinion.  Love, Brig

I don't see the people in this thread as haterz, I see them as bellgabbers who want to participate in Bella-Haven. There are all kinds of bellgabbers, and for some, this IS their way of "showin some love"  I think true haterz are rare on bellgab.  Just my point of view.  You don't have to agree with it.  Take it or leave it.  I will be here for coffee none the less  :P

Why would Serenity  need to sub?  He could probably start his own streaming show for the morning crowd ...
name it something with the theme of ... Morning coffee and spam -- the Art of last night?  Something that would throw all these elements into it.

Also 'subbing' would mean that Nancy's Bella-Haven is still going on ... right at the moment, Nancy closed it down (perhaps temporarily).
