The Other Side of Midnight - Richard C. Hoagland - Live Chat Thread

Started by cosmic hobo, June 24, 2015, 08:00:52 PM

LOL Richard told a fib. I was calling when he said there were no calls coming in.

This particular show neeeeddddss another hour!    8)

I hope some night we'll get five hours of RCH, he could be a guest on MITD then do his own show in a sort of crossover special.  Kind of like when the cast of Hello Larry appeared on Diff'rent Strokes.

Holy shit is he even going to take a call?  This is why he needs 3 hours!

That'd be good.  Plus...that's one heck of a reference.  Hello Larry....wow....opened archives of my mind with that one.  ;)

He bs'd and said the lines were lit up at the start, but everyone is too enthralled to call since nobody was calling when he asked for some. I was calling on two separate lines...:( End theme is about to start and we have so much more to talk about. 3 hours Hoagland and Keith. Force him to take calls for the last 30 too.

He's a tease.  Shows nearly over too.  :(

Damn. That left me wanting more.
Me too. The guest has worked on a lot of things I enjoyed. I blame astroguy! Hoagie is punishing us in his petulant way.
Well until tomorrow night, BRAAPS all!

Sure, blame the little guy ...

I sort of like RCH but often find him increasingly tedious As the show goes on. He doesn't know the meaning of the word succinct.

I can only handle about the first ten minutes of RCH each night but that ten minutes is glorious. I think it's because I like his opening so much.

I don't listen live but I sure do enjoy the comments on this thread. I blogged the Robbins/Hoagland match:

http://dorkmission.blogspot.com/2015/08/richard-hoagland-contradicts-himself.html

I fell asleep but while I was awake I enjoyed this show a lot more than the shitshow on MitD -- and I knew nothing about Ackerman or Pal.

I wonder if Richard reads this thread? Here's a song that made me think of him today since he loves that spacey sounding music. This would be perfect for his show. Also, the song by John Grant, GMF.

I find it funny how I started watching these shows just because of the technical difficulties and the trainwreck of a show that resulted.
But oddly enough last night I really enjoyed the entire show for other reasons. They had great chemistry and he even let the guest talk.

If he is able to do this with other guests as well he could turn out to be a decent radio host.

More accurately, I think Richard & Co. love "Public Domain" music  ;)

Ah, good point. Had not thought of that. So it's back to crazy sounding space music for us, LOL.

And this is just so a teacher isn't held liable. You should see the flowchart for actually teaching something.

Hoagland emailed me about BRAAPS! He even put up some of my goofy faux-mspaint pictures on his website. Awesome! ;D He said they are discussing 3 hours and hopefully we will hear something at some point.

The guy could use some sponsors. And why isn't there a commercial spot on repeat every hour, hawking his books? Hasn't the guy written lots of books? Doesn't he want people to buy them?

Hrrrm.

Whitley should at least have an add running. That raises a bigger question: Why do Strieber's adds never mention Wolfen or The Hunger? Those were pretty popular and the films they made of them are considered classics by horror fans (at least The Hunger is, Wolfen is fun though). Maybe DMRN should offer a package deal to run ads on Midnight and have one repeat ad on Other Side?

Oh please tell us how you explained the meaning of BRAAPS!    ;D
I have to go check out his site now.

*edit*

I just checked it out and 4 of your drawings are there.  Awesome!   8)

Hey RT....I was going to ask you what prompted Hoagie's email, but I embarrassingly forgot for a moment that you were his Cultural Advisor.  :D

It's the sound his chair makes moving across the floor that sounds like a fart. Told him it is now his fans official greeting too.

No. In 20 years he's written one complete book, co-authored another, and been one of 30 authors on another. Not very impressive.

I'm assuming he approves.   ;)

Just from emailing the pictures, I asked about the other hour in the email.
