I wonder if Alex Jones might present his next show that this was all made up and an amateur plot by Obama to steal yur gurns?

But as long as he was allowed to hold a gun I can't see Jones using that as an angle. Weird.

I'm guessing Alex will be going with the "psychotropic drugs," like SSRIs  conspiracy theory, though he might also use a "false-flag" angle- since everything is a "false-flag" to him. Having said that, Obama will, most likely, use the shooting to try to enact (likely by some actions and regulations in the executive branch or departments) some more anti-gun measures. (Since I doubt Congress will pass anything and the shooting, whilst awful, will disappear from the news. Even if due to the distance if nothing else. It would be like trying to keep the attention of people in London over a shooting in Zagreb (actually Zagreb is closer to London than many cities in the US is to Charleston.)

I quite literally just had a conversation with my neighbor about this, and said "I bet Alex Jones calls this a false flag operation so they can take away our guns". Its sad that Jones exploits these tragedies for a paycheck. What an asshole.

I don't know. CNN, Fox, etc and the politicians and lobbyists make money off of, and exploit, these tragedies. Alex is just one more hog at the trough. In a perverse way I think the "news," politicians (especially the anti-gunners), and Alex secretly like these events, as long it is happening to others in other places because it justifies their theories or agenda and make them money.

Reports coming in stating that the shooter mentioned "black people are raping our women, so you have to go" before shooting. I wonder how many people those old black women had raped. The oldest victim was 87. So stupid. Evidently the shooter was also a fan of South Africa's apartheid.

Morri$ Dee$ and Mark Potok are making more money from than this event than the fat, balding Texas con man will. Greedy ghouls.

Obviously demented and maybe even insane but I wonder what inspired this? Does he have family in South Africa or Zimbabwe? He was born far after Rhodesia was abandoned and South Africa got rid of apartheid and the news of the rapes, farm invasions, land theft, and killings of whites hardly ever makes the US news. Or did he have family or friend who was actually raped? If so then why not, if you are going to go gunning for someone, go after that perpetrator?

And another point- all these crazy shooters and bombers, including the Muslim ones, claim they are such "brave fellows" but they attack the easiest, most vulnerable targets usually and often the targets have nothing to do with their "mission." (The guy was attacked the police station was "brave" however according to a CNN host.) And the logic by these crazies is so bizarre: "our country is being over run by Muslims"- so kill a whole bunch of innocent white non-Muslims (Brevik.) "Blacks are raping our women"- so kill elderly black women and men at a Bible-study (this nutjob.) They are so crazy that their victims don't even match with their crazy theories and supposed motivations.

What the hell is up with the young people today? Every time you turn around some young kid is shooting a place up and killing people or rioting in Ferguson or god knows what. We seem to have created a generation of complete lunatics.

Well, if the popular culture and mainstream media, such as the crap on TV, is any indication, I'm surprised it's not worse.  We're pretty much programmed by what surrounds us.  Anyone with a mental instability is going to be much more suspect.

There is a reason things on television are called "programming."  ;) I know, I know there is no scientifically proven direct cause-and-effect link but I reckon there is at least some relationship, and strong correlation, at least for "marginalized" people but also overall. Especially with a generation growing up on ultra-realistic, ultra-violence video games where mayhem appears to be the goal (oh yeah and you often have unlimited lives or can "replay" and are used in training for soldiers.) NPR had a blurb on the latest tech convention and VR games on display and there was a minor, almost throw-away line, in the piece "that the military was interested for training and simulation." I also will say the availability of guns is an problem. Because Hollywood (and politicians like Obama and others of his ilk) promote them so much. They claim to be against them but every single movie is a shoot 'em up and every gun crime is a chance for a politician/group to yell about guns pro/con. But I've grown up with guns and people with lots of guns and never known anyone who has been shot (or had to shoot another person! Except in war.)

Corporations, businesses, cults, religions, and politicians wouldn't spend billions on advertising and marketing if it had no effect. What is the effect of violent, misogynistic, etc video games, tv, internet sites, etc?

Of course the same phenomena (interconnectedness and instant gratification) in the media also helps spread the message of a crime happening thousands, if not more, miles away and makes one think it is happening everywhere- or potentially right next door!

The law should be simple

1. Commit ANY crime (not self defense) with a gun = death penalty (preferably by electrocution)
2. Sell or give a gun to anyone whom you KNOW is on SSRI's (or is a mental case) = death penalty (preferably by electrocution)
3. Lie on a 4473 = life in prison no chance for parole
4. Straw man = life in prison no chance for parole

However - none of that will ever pass because it would defeat a certain anti-second-amendment-party's agenda to disarm law-abiding American Citizens.

The mayor of Charleston appears to be quite aged, so he should be aware of Nixon's ruminations about Manson in '70. Talk about the event, but stop talking about the suspect. This kid's lawyers will almost certainly have a case to get the trial moved out of Charleston at this rate.

Yeah, but FOX news will lead the charge in pushing for him to go back to Charleston.

Forget the "hate" and charge him under state law for murders, gun charges, etc. SC uses the death penalty. Or Obama, in keeping his with tradition and Obama Doctrine of releasing terrorists and criminals, should release him to the community at a specific time and place. Or better yet deport him to Zimbabwe wearing his jacket. They have a proven track-record of dealing with "crackers," as Obama might call them.

We`re talking about South Carolina. That boy is dead already. Doesn`t matter what anybody says, how they say it, or from where it`s said.

He may get "suicided" in prison before trial. Suboxone mixed with something else.

Jackstar

It would seem to me that suboxone is a synthetic opiod, not an SSRI. Remember this.

Weird shit. The bloke who has been charged; has he been found guilty already and sentenced? Had his video link on our news with the victims families giving court statements. Doesn't that happen post trial?

yeah, I heard about that. it does seem odd that they would be making statements already. it makes no sense. even if he were to plead guilty, they said his trial could take a year. longer if they were seeking the death penalty. they are not even close to a trial. it'll be months away if not longer. weird indeed. he showed up to court to hear charges or some shit and it was over closed circuit tv I think. So does that mean the victims families were in the courtroom?
mistrial already?

Certainly you, of all people, aren't claiming a conspiracy??

I don't know SC criminal procedure but wasn't this just a bond/preliminary hearing?
http://www.judicial.state.sc.us/summaryCourtBenchBook/HTML/CriminalF.htm

Normally I would think the prosecutors wouldn't like families, witnesses, etc to talk in most circumstances but in this case I'm guessing (especially since, apparently, the kook admitted it) they are hoping that public statements will "cool down" any potential protests, copy-cats, recriminations, vigilante justice, etc or even stop the usual rabble-rousers from visiting and rioting.

coaster

When are victims allowed to speak at preliminary hearings? I have never heard of that. His defense will argue that he won't get a fair trial over such bs.

I don't know procedure in SC but in many places they can, especially if the prosecutor/judge thinks it will have a bearing on what/if bond should be issued, to show enough probable cause to indict, etc. I don't know if SC uses a Grand Jury or a hearing for this initial step. Also, hearsay etc is, in most places, allowed in prelims but not in the actual trial.

Not at all. But if I were his lawyer I'd be looking at ways of using words such as prejudice against my client BEFORE trial. This is serving no-one, least of all the victims and families.

Maybe. But pre-empting any riots shouldn't overturn normal criminal justice procedure.

I am not for the death penalty. But sometimes I wonder if its ok to turn a blind eye. If its better for society as a whole to make an asshole disappear, so be it. I'm also not for taxpayers paying for this asshole's eventual 20 plus year confinement on death row. Sometimes its better just to take a guy out back and put one in the dome.

Did you see the report from Canada's parliament shooting?  The guy was shot around 30 times with the last (and fatal shot) being to the back of the head.  It was found to be justified as they may have thought he still posed a threat.

I have no real problem with this, but wish they were honest and just said in the report that they approved  of the execution rather than trying to justify and using weasel words.  Instead, just say that if you are going to kill soldiers and go on a shooting spree in the center block of Parliament that you should expect to end up dead, and that we have no problem with this being a guaranteed outcome.
