LOL, that would have been so rewarding to my looking down my nose at him for not knowing my measurements.

I do agree though, I run into that kind of thing all the time. People are getting dumber.

I believe he was home schooled.
Aside from some random internet postings, and your comment, I don't see any claim of "home schooling," unless simply dropping out is the definition of that. I could be wrong- the narrative is changing as we speak (at one point the gun was a gift from his estranged dad, that his mom took away, and he stole back, to now saying he bought it? And was living at his dad's? Who knows? It will be sorted out I'm sure.)
The no job, skating boarding (!!), bowl-cut, disaffected, white trash, living place to place, and suboxene stuff (and the broken family, and apparent wife-beating, and dropping out in 9th grade though could also be factors? Nah. That is the "new normal" and acceptable.)
But I hope the $29 million dollars, and who knows how much more, goes to help some people and not simply taken by activists or unaccounted for organizations.

Interestingly, in response to Eddie, the SPLC, never to let a good crisis go to waste or make some money off it, is claiming that some of the protestors there are also bad guys.
Always a win-win for them!

"The demonstrators had to walk through a group of about two dozen black men yelling at them. The black men wore shirts that said "Israel United in Christ," which the Southern Poverty Law Center has called a black supremacist group."

I was referring to the guy at Lowes Hardware... and my tongue was firmly in my cheek.

I don't know when intelligence in the gifted range became part of the narrative whenever "a full picture has emerged" of the suspect. It seems to be a self-comforting thing- us helplessly being thwarted by a Lecter-type mad genius time and time again. And it's coming out with this guy now, too.

Roof's scribblings are pure dogshit, as Rodger's were. Beneath critical inspection.

Why would anybody care what a mass murderer thinks about anything? What am I missing here?

Sorry, I am often too quick on the draw. Lucky I am not a cop. ;) (Except in this circumstance in SC where I wish a cop was there with the free shooting attitude and took out the nut right then.)

Not a thing. Some look for answers to understand the inconceivable. It would be helpful to understand the motivations and what kind of crazy was going on; so that somewhere in the future, maybe something, somewhere can be done to intervene.

Hmmm. How about psychology screening before allowing firearms to be given out in lucky bags?

The president is golfing again today, while the rest of his family finishes a tour of Europe.
A week after we see a turkey shoot during a Bible study, a failed trade deal with Congress and Trump crashing a party ... and he golfs. On a well-watered course in a drought region.
Alone on Father's Day.

Yeah, I agree with you on that. I probably should have prefaced my statement with; with the possible exception of mental healthcare professionals...

I`m in awe of the surviving family members and congregation of the Emanuel AME church. Nearly all -- to a person -- have forgiven Dylann Roof for his actions. If only I were half the Christian of these kind, gentle souls.

Have you forgotten - Christianity is BAD and only teaches hate and persecution of homosexuals. WTF is wrong with you anyways????

It isn't possible. It's just some shit Christians think they're supposed to say.

SciFiAuthor

I should elaborate. Christians will condemn gays and anyone that doesn't tow the Christian line yet forgive a piece of shit like this on a dime because it sounds good at the time. It's emotive situational bullshit no different than a facebook drama. I'll have no part in it, the guy is the ultimate in unrepentant trash and that's that. Lock him up and throw away the key and heap scorn on him until the day he dies.

SciFiAuthor

I'll elaborate more. Take a look at this.

“He went to catechism, he went to church,” Ms Mann said. “He was locked in his room looking up bad stuff on the computer.”

Uh huh. What bad stuff? Well, here's his fucking manifesto in which he cites Trent Lott's old organization the CofCC.

http://lastrhodesian.com/data/documents/rtf88.txt

"The event that truly awakened me was the Trayvon Martin case. I kept hearing and seeing his name, and eventually I decided to look him up. I
read the Wikipedia article and right away I was unable to understand what the big deal was. It was obvious that Zimmerman was in the right. But
more importantly this prompted me to type in the words “black on White crime” into Google, and I have never been the same since that day. The
first website I came to was the Council of Conservative Citizens. There were pages upon pages of these brutal black on White murders. I was in
disbelief. At this moment I realized that something was very wrong. How could the news be blowing up the Trayvon Martin case while hundreds of
these black on White murders got ignored?"

I've never heard any Christian "condemn" any gay or lesbian. The only thing I have ever heard any Christian say is that homosexuality and lesbianism (etc) is contrary to their beliefs, and they refuse to be forced to adopt a contrary belief just because someone demands that they do.

If their beliefs are rooted in naïve superstition, and they believe that someone might go to a hell that doesn't exist because of a belief they hold or an activity they undertake, how is it possible for that to become such and all-encompassing issue?

By that logic you'd let a butcher do heart surgery. I mean how hard can it be?

Until you address the mental competance of firearm owners and simply allow the free for all you 'enjoy' now, you'll continue to bury innocent people.. still I'm reasonably sure I could visit a church and not get shot. Happy days.

Quick Karl actually makes a good point.  For one, we're dealing with a small community of individuals and we have no knowledge of what personal ideals they embrace.  The Christian practices and beliefs that are publicized frequently only represent a small portion of practitioners, or a localized area.

I can't speak to anyone's motivations. Here is what the studies suggest. Those that suffer tramatic events are much more likely to go on to lead productive lives if they are able to reframe an assault as an act, out of their control. Rather than hold on to the savagery and make that their identifying moment. No one can forgive that kind of violence quickly, but the process can begin.

I don't know if they are just mouthing a belief system or if they are truly working on getting past this moment in their lives. I hope whatever the situation they can move on with their lives.

Pfft, pick a Baptist church, step inside and say "I'm gay" and see what happens. It would be an easy thing to find condemnation. I'm not sure what you mean by the all-encompassing issue, elaborate.

I don't think so. Someone shoots your grandmother, you are not, no matter who you are, going to instantly be able to forgive. It's just not in human nature. You can say it, but it doesn't make it so. And to be honest, they shouldn't forgive. There's no point in it.

My challenge is -- why does it matter to you WHAT they believe? Except for the one-in-a-trillion rare exception in this country, no one is tarring and feathering homosexuals! They just don't want to be forced to bake cakes for them.

If the homosexual mafia in this country was so much more intellectually enlightened and morally superior, they would get their cake somewhere else and leave the people be.

The key is in the process. It hasn't been a week. They may have begun some sort of process of dealing with trauma, but it's not possible for them to have forgiven anything. It's just words. Of course I feel for them in their moment of grief, but the appropriate things to feel at this time are rage and grief, not forgiveness.

Hell, I'm not even sure where the Christians get this forgiveness thing anyway. Jesus said "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him." I'm all for the rebuking part in this case because that guy ain't repenting.

It is interesting how all these people who think Christianity is the worst thing ever often attend facilities, such as schools or hospitals or the local Y, and often are the first inline to get help from the Red Cross after some disaster natural or terrorist attack. And those protestors and activists who often seem to think the USA, UK, European countries has so historically, and in our case, evil. And they often choose to live, or remain, in countries- some of which still have official State churches. If Christianity, and Western Civilization, is so darn capitalist, economically exploitative, evil, racist, sexist, noninclusive, corrupt and so on one would think they would move to the Middle East or some central African country since they are the paragon of civilization, human rights, peace, honesty, and non-violence.
