George Knapp

For once I actually thought Knapp let a guest off easy. The way the caller proactively attacked skeptics or talked about how trying it was to be questioned probably dictated the tone.

I'm ducking out too.  Knapp, ya know I'm your #2 fan (after Neb888), but this guest tonite is a dud.

However I will still leave on a postitive note.  Thank you for playing Yes bumper music that isn't Roundabout!  I'm so used to lazy Noory always playing the most obvious overplayed song by a band that it took me by surprise.

Ha!  Yes, I am a huge Knapp fan.....and, I listened to the entire program.  It wasn't what I had anticipated, but Knapp did well and kept me engaged.  So true, great bumper music tonight!  I am a Beatles fan, but  loved the variety Knapp chose tonight.   Even with a mediocre guest(s), Knapp makes good radio happen.   ;)

Then Ann called in and started talking about nanobots in her body.   Poor girl is probably schizophrenic.  I think George sensed this but Yvonne didn't and continued to feed her paranoia.
Some of the callers seemed mentally ill, more than usual. I think George at one point even said "I think we know what's going on there." They need help and not some psychic UFO abductee to help them.

Thats another scary thing. We don't know if the callers are very mentally ill and so instead of getting help they talk to one of these "experts" that fit whatever their paranoia or delusions are. So instead of getting treatment, they are basically getting their delusions reaffirmed...so I imagine it is like throwing fuel on a fire.

"Fatal Close Encounters" for Sunday night's Knapp fest.  Really intriguing topic, but not quite as much when you read the summation.  Apparently the deaths occur after the fact, and have nothing directly to do with the actual "encounter".  Still, Nick Redfern is usually a pretty solid guest, and Knapp is hosting- potential for a good show.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but could have possibly fit into a program with the above title- Knapp should host an entire show on the Dyatlov (sp?) Pass incident.

He already did a good one back in Nov. '13 with guest Keith Mccloskey.  If you scroll back a ways on this thread I think someone (Seraphim?) posted a link to it.

Sunday night with Knapp and Redfern......it doesn't get any better.  8)

Oh no, George Knapp just reported that frequent longtime c2cam guest, UFO researcher Stanton Friedman suffered a heart attack today.
He is still alive, fortunately. Hoping he has a good recovery.

AvDaBr

Stanton Friedman apparently suffered a heart attack, according to Knapp.

Thanks for the info zeebo.  I'm thinking I probably went out of town that weekend and didn't tune in.  I do remember bad George interviewing a guy for the first hour or so and briefly touching on it.

It was a great show I thought.  I hope he does another one on the subject.  Btw you may be interested in this Dark Weekend podcast that the same guest did shortly after doing c2c.

Thanks for the link.  I'll have to check it out.

By the way, Knapp just uttered, in reference to Friedman, "He's like the Energizer Bunny."  Ha, now he's copying Noory. :o

Turning on the radio and hearing Knapp's spirited intro instead of Noory's zombie version is like switching from Windows to Linux - everything seems fun again.

Prayers up for Stan.

This underwater structure off Malibu, described with columns and such - I wonder if it's just the old Ben-Hur set someone dumped out there.

Uh-oh, Knapp's first hour guest is bashing Jimmy Church right now.
He says Jimmy (without mentioning his name or show directly) banned him from his show after appearing recently and then writing an article about the Malibu base discovery but not agreeing with Jimmy's idea its an alien base.
He said Jimmy before that had told him he would have him back on the show to talk about the discovery after his article came out, but instead he was not asked to come on and says he listened that night to Jimmy bashing him and his article with others...

Love this guest! Looks at the facts!

Henceforth I shall refer to the hosts as "good George" and "bad George (or bad Jorch.)"

I had to duck out of last weeks show (I love George- but it just was not clicking.  I thought it might have been the topic and was relieved to find many others here feeling the same way.)  Anyhow, so far tonight has made up for it.  Lee was a good guest and the dialogue between him and Knapp reminded me of the Bell years in some ways.  It had me back to thinking "I want to believe."  I appreciated hearing two people talk who were willing to concede that not everything is an alien.

I really appreciated when Knapp said that some people think that if you buy into on part of it you have to buy into it all.  That just is not possible- some of them are just plain crazy.  (yes, I paraphrased.)

It's another good Knapp night.  I would say a great Coast episode- but I do not really consider Knapp's shows to be Coast shows anymore (that brand has been destroyed.)  They are now Knapp shows to me.

I hope Stan Friedman pulls through.

Are you thinking of the "Ten Commandments" sets Cecil B. DeMille buried in the Twenties?  He thought it would be funny if future archaeologists found them and thought they were actual Egyptian ruins.

BTW, all those controversial Ten Commandments displays in courthouses around the country were actually donated by DeMille as part of a massive publicity stunt to promote his 1956 production, so ironically, Hollywood was responsible for putting religion in the public square.  Whoda thunk?

I caught the first two hours of last night's show.  What I did hear was very entertaining and Knapp sounded great.

It's so refreshing to hear a host who's genuinely interested in paranormal phenomena, and isn't just going through the motions to make a buck.  Damn, now we have to endure several weeks of The Nooron and this Sunday's super suckathon.  Well I won't be enduring it.  I just won't be listening to the suckage.

Nebraska888

Knapp hit it out of the park Sunday night.  Between Spiegel and Redfern.........it was a tremendous listening experience!!!!  :)

MrHippie

George Knapp really is the gold standard.
I will hunt down and DL his C2C shows from YT. Then listen to them at my leisure during my days off.  Often multiple times - as background sound when doing things around the house - and later  when resting and able to concentrate more on the show.
Because with all the TV and internet choices that we have and all the distractions pointed at us, Just a simple, intelligent conversation is refreshing and important.

He carries the torch from Art and just might fill his shoes, but that is at least a few years away.

I recall reading 2010:Odyssey Two where Clarke wrote about an archeologist thinking he had discovered a lost civilization in Tunisia, but it turned out to be an "abandoned set for a science fiction movie."

The film deviated from the book in quite a few ways. The US/USSR breakdown in relations plotline is pretty much nonexistent in the book.

I slept very well listening to LIsa Garr last night.
Her NPR voice and refusal to voice any opposition to the guests made me relaxed....
Knapp, it's up to you.
Take me to an NDE and make me wake from my slumber
