LOL!  I take it you are not a fan of that civic duty.  I personally enjoy it.  However on most occasions I feel dirty after the trial.  Not because of the context, but of my fellow jurors come deliberation.  :(

I have to drive down to Galveston and then you serve for at least a week. If you don't get picked the first day you have to call in every evening to see if they need you the next day. It is district court so if you do get picked the trial lasts as long as it lasts.

Hmmm...can't believe I never considered that. ???  yum.

I came in midway through this guest. So the story is a couple's biological son is kidnapped out of the hospital and then the police find an abandoned baby and assume it's the kidnapped baby? But it turns out the abandoned baby isn't their baby so their real baby nobody knows what happened to him?

Exactly. But the second child was found in Newark. The first I think was in Chicago.

Oh yeah.  Thankfully I haven't had to be sequestered. There were continuances that lasted for days. Fortunately it wasn't a big inconvenience.  By the way, how much do you get paid?  Here we get $40 per day.

oh they found a baby pretty far away and just assumed it was the missing baby from Chicago. How old was this guest when he was found in Newark?

About 2. Just over a year later.

$7 the first day and then something like $40 for each day you actually have to serve. I just check the box to donate it to a woman's shelter.

That's admirable.  I just spend it.  ;D  In fact, we don't have an option to donate.  we just get a check 2-4 weeks after.  :-\

You're an awesome Soul, Gravity. ;)

Hi and thanks for the confirmation. Wow, this is quite a story, his real family sounds like The Munsters.  These older siblings must have remembered these 2 infants being in the house and then just disappearing.

If I got picked for a jury that lasted any length of time I might keep it but I have never been selected. Been questioned every time but I don't think they like people with an engineering background. Seems like as soon as I mention that I worked at JSC they cross me off.

Don't stroke his ego.  He's already thought of as a man in good standing.  At least by some.  ;)  The thing is...He really doesn't want to go. LOL!  ;)

Creepy family. Paul was lucky to be abandoned

I get the whole civic duty thing but I don't like being around that many people. Without my iced tea and internet.

That's the thing.  He is donating the pay he is getting from something he doesn't want to do.  Think about it. ;)

Huh.  I wonder why?  I'm subpoenaed constantly.  Even after I just served.  You get a 2 year break, but I received letters yearly before.  I'm not as accredited as you.  I'm just a white middle aged kitchen rat. :P  It's been 5 years since I served however.  I'm jinxing myself by talking about it.  ;D

Very lucky.

Childhood abuse stories really depress me. :'(

These Fronczak people couldn't tell the baby wasn't theirs?  That is bizarre - do you know a mother who wouldn't know a baby wasn't her own? How long was their baby missing for?

I renewed my driver's license so I am sure that kicked it off. I had to go last year. Here you can get selected every 6 months to show up. I think you can claim an exemption for a year or two if you actually had to serve. Just going through voir dire doesn't count. I usually get a summons about every 18 months.

I had a lawyer once tell me they don't like engineers because they tend to have a problem asking too many questions and sorting out "reasonable doubt".

Explain to me what "dog-eared" means.  I need to know in case I am.

Over a year and the baby was stolen right after birth.

Not as easily swayed by pleas to emotions or children's nursery rhymes.  ;)
