Not as easily swayed by pleas to emotions or children's nursery rhymes.  ;)

When my daughter was 5 I had to go through voir dire for a child molestation case. An uncle raped his 5 year old niece and was caught by family in the act. I flat out told the judge that in my mind he looked guilty and I could not be objective. The judge refused to release me. Luckily I didn't get picked. He was found guilty and the judge gave him probation. I would never serve in that judge's court.

Explain to me what "dog-eared" means.  I need to know in case I am.

I get the whole civic duty thing but I don't like being around that many people. Without my iced tea and internet.

The last time i got called, I showed up and there were literally hundreds of people there, overfilling the courthouse (this was in SF).  Turns out, they knew they were gonna have a hard time filling the jury, as it was some sort of monster corporate trial that they estimated would last 12-18 mos.!  How can anyone commit to that?  I'm up for civic duty if it's a week or less but c'mon!  I was pretty worried about getting tangled up in that but apparently some of my more creative answers were not well-received, and I was off-the-hook.  :P

Over a year and the baby was stolen right after birth.

ahhhh that makes sense. this poor guy, the odds of him finding biological Paul and Jill are astronomical, worse for biological Paul. Jill I imagine was also abandoned and then adopted so there should be records in some town/city in NJ of a female infant found and what was done with her.

I renewed my driver's license so I am sure that kicked it off. I had to go last year. Here you can get selected every 6 months to show up. I think you can claim an exemption for a year or two if you actually had to serve. Just going through voir dire doesn't count. I usually get a summons about every 18 months.

I had a lawyer once tell me they don't like engineers because they tend to have a problem asking too many questions and sorting out "reasonable doubt".

After my divorce I moved back to the city proper.  I'm surprised...shocked really...that I haven't received a letter yet.

Profiling you like that makes no sense.  People like you should be on juries.  I've asked a ton of questions and caused some arguments over time.  The process jaded me somewhat because of the jurors really NOT asking questions and quite frankly not giving a shit.  I really have no faith in the process.  Actually...I have no faith in the jurors involved.  People, from my experience, are afraid of questions and afraid of speaking up.  *sigh*...I could go on.

Anyway...I hope it goes as you desire.  Cheers to you sir!  8)

Thank you.  I will try to imagine what that is.  Especially since I'm overweight and have curves...not edges.  ;D   GS has edges.  ;)

A manager that worked for me got picked for a Vietnamese gangland slaying in Houston. They were sequestered for like 12 weeks. 3 interpreters had to review every question and every answer. One for the prosecution, one for the defense and one for the judge. I don't think that guy was ever the same after that trial.

Thank god Jorch isn't doing this. 'I don't understand people like that. Family is everything. Mom is almost 90 and going strong. She still calls me Georgie. And my dad, he passed a year and a half ago, 88 years old. He was an immigrant and came to this great country and became a dentist. He wanted me to be a dentist but I started working at my college radio station and got hooked. Dad wasn't happy when I told him I wanted to be in broadcasting, didn't talk to me  for a month. Do you notice by the way that people are acting strange these days? Something's going on. I don't know what but it's very strange.'

Of all the regular callers she is the one I detest the most.

Imagine a world where George Knapp just does a free form show 5 days a week.  I like to think about that sometimes.

ShayP

I'm surprised Nebraska isn't here.

I follow him on facebook and watch his news reports. He does good work.

Like Cast Away but at least he had Wilson

I was alone without human contact for a week.  That's it.  I used to "disappear" once a year just to center myself.  Never more than a week though.  Come to think of it, it's been a while.  This Autumn for sure...
