Carlin was part of the Vegas family. It's a close knit family for those Vegas performers, personalities. Buddy Hackett's son produced several music and comedy productions in Vegas where I did some stand up and sketch comedy . You'd be shoulder to shoulder with the greats.

The mystery of the ocean and what lies beneath fascinates me to know end. There are probably so many bizarre occurrences that are never reported. Sea 'Monsters' are cool too and I don't care if real or not. The idea of what's lurking so far below that we can't easily explore is a beautiful mystery.

Agreed.  I was on a whale watching trip in the Monterey Bay......5,000 feet plus in depth.  It was thrilling, but something in that experience also frightened me.  What, just what, is in those waters?  Anything is possible.

We're in southern Fla on the coast and I'd like to go diving to see sharks and other marine life. I don't think I would want to go very deep as it just is too eerie. I get nervous thinking of my tank failing from too many movies where a character freaks out when something goes wrong.  I'm not much of a swimmer. Ha.

While a young man in the service, I regularly checked radio message traffic that was intercepted from various Soviet units around the world. Most of it was boring, but sometimes it could be interesting. On one occasion, in the early 80`s, I read a brief message that was requesting guidance from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (A major component of Soviet sub-surface command in the Pacific) regarding an Oscar class Sub`s Intermittent contact. Nothing interesting there, probably an LA class US sub following it.

As I read deeper, the contact was moving way too fast and going way too deep for any sub we had or the Soviets had. It was appearing and disappearing on their sensors (not terribly unusual, as noise propagation through water can do that). Later I checked the operational status of our subs in that area. We had nothing deployed in that area of the Pacific.

Was it an "USO"? Who knows. But it was interesting.
