Looks good FTF!  Will add that one to my list of to-be-sampled scotches.  To begin, I'll be sipping on my mild and subtle go-to starter, Glenmorangie 10. 

But around the midnite mark, if I'm in the mood, I just might break out this bad-boy, a not-for-beginners peat-monster which, as one reviewer put it, tastes like a caramel-coated bonfire.   

Nice! I like the switcharoo idea. Glen10 is a nice palate primer, indeed. The Ardbeg sounds like a nice change of pace. I should order a sample.

Yes, a sample first is a good idea.  This one's not for everyone - I sort of built up to it.  It's wonderfully complex though - savory, smoky flavors balanced with sweet, herbal, spicy notes.  I'm still trying to unravel it, kind of like the best Knapp shows.

Yes, a sample first is a good idea.  This one's not for everyone - I sort of built up to it.  It's wonderfully complex though - savory, smoky flavors balanced with sweet, herbal, spicy notes.  I'm still trying to unravel it, kind of like the best Knapp shows.   

That`s one of the things I love so much about Scotch. So many great distilleries to choose from. I think you`ll find the Balvenie 14 to be a very good Summer scotch. It`s light and very well balanced with notes of apple, pear, and maybe a little tropical fruit and a nice light lingering vanilla finish.

You guys are really making me miss the Scotch.   The last time I had anything close to it was months ago.  An after dinner drink of Drambuie with just a few cubes of ice.

Sounds very nice.  And yes lighter drams like the Glenmo are good for balmier evenings. The Ardbeg and similar smoky/peaty variants are really better suited to chilly fall/winter nights.  Maybe I'll just turn up the air-con around midnite.
