Check out this movie poster and the release date.

QuoteThe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set off a Twitter firestorm today when Paramount Pictures Australia tweeted out a new poster image to promote the film. The problem is that the Australian release date is Sept. 11 â€" and the poster shows the four title characters leaping from an exploding skyscraper.

As Americans does this offend you? Are people being too sensitive? Can we not have turtles jump out of an exploding building anymore?

I apologise on behalf of all the people of Australia and I promise to kill the next turtle I see.

b_dubb

Not really.  Maybe it's because of this bowl of turtle soup I'm eating.  Payback is a bitch.  And a dish best served with some oyster crackers.

Mike.

9/11 is on a Thursday this year. Is that a typical release date for Summer winter "blockbuster" openings in Australia?

I'm not offended, the fact that September 11 is at the bottom of the poster is a plus.

albrecht

No. Though if released decades ago I would wonder about the "predictive programming." Not so much now.

Not in the slightest.

On a separate note, they really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for movie ideas...

The General

I'm offended.
But not because of 9-11.
I find the poster racist.

    Offended?

The prospect of them jumping to their deaths from a burning building gives me wood.

Me too. I hope Midnight Oil writes a song about this disgrace.

LOL'ed hard at this.  Also ... reported ... for being HYSTERICAL.

with total box office revenues at over half a billion dollars from previous films and who knows how much in total franchising dollars, all i can say is Megan Fox. (yes i am an unceremonious pig).  ;D

offended? hell no. may i suggest that most of those that are offended are a bunch of weak-kneed pussies. we americans leveled a couple of countries fueled by feeding on vengeance from the events of 911. then we imprisoned ourselves because we are afraid? it's a movie poster. WTF?

PerfectTommy

Megan Fox?

Who does she play, April O'Malley... or whatever the fuck her name is?

Obviously she's patched things up with Michael Bay.

coaster

I'm not offended. People will find anything to complain about.

I'm offended by the ageist fiction that these stupid cgi turtles are teenagers. They have to be at least fifty, every one of them. I'll bet they all have AARP cards and carry Metamucil in those backpacks, too. And,of course now there's bound to be turtle back to school lunchboxes this year which is a step down from Star Wars from an aesthetic point of view. Other then that, it's just a movie, fer Keerist's sake. Anyone who gets his knickers in a twist has a very low bar and  probably should stop listening to the voices in his or her head.

Why does it offend you that oldsters can be mistaken for teenagers?  I think that would be a welcome development.

BobGrau

I'm offended because I didn't get the poop story I was expecting.

I'm offended because the movie is sexist. Sure, turtles don't have perky breasts, firm shapely buttocks, or camel toes, but we're talking about mutant turtles. That means anything is possible, so why isn't there a hot turtle chick in a cropped, clingy leather body suit specially designed to emphasize all of her arousing, aforementioned mutant attributes?  That should have been a no-brainer.

Yorkshire pud

They can't possibly get their arms, legs, and head under their shells. I say it's fake CGI. That's offensive.

I agree. Donatello could be played by Donatella Versace.

Hot coffee out my nose this morning!!  Starting the day off right....      ;D
(Hmmmm, seems to have missed the keyboard this time.)

onan

it is unsympathetic to show any explosion on any building. My god if one can't make the connection to that horrific day... And turtles, one of them with what can only be explained as a turban. And all of them wearing masks.

Oh yes, I am offended, offended indeed.

Some turtles live for hundreds of years, so it's possible that even at fifty they could still be teenagers in turtle years.  And I'm offended by your assumption that everyone with an AARP card suffers from irregularity.

I'm offended that a bunch of stoned pizza-eating turtles have become the cultural icon for a generation.  Did you realize that cartoon was practically created on a dare?

Like Mr Blobby.

Created as a deliberate bad joke by the murderer Noel Edmonds, to see just how lazy a character the public would accept as a cultural icon.... it became a cultural icon with no irony whatsoever.

Intentionally AS funny as AIDS... the unfunny kind of of AIDS... Mr Blobby was a dude in a foam suit who acted like a twat, pEriodically shouting, "BLOBBY! BLOBBY! BLOBBY!" as he stumbled around like a cross between Oliver Reid an a visual representation of the Herpes virus.

'Enjoy'

I had only last week finally gone through therapy over that disease on our TV screens. I will be sending my future invoices for professional expert counselling to you from now on; thanks a bundle.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oliver Reed was Mr. Blobby.  That's the first time I've seen him and I hope it's the last.  Unfortunately, reruns of "Keeping Up Appearances" are still going strong on the PBS network over here.  It and "Are You Being Served?" refuse to die.  The Lovejoy cameo was a nice surprise, though.

Kelt

Sorry about that... allow me to make a bad situation worse.

This is just all sorts of wrong.
