I hate to be the one to point this out... But using poor language is one of the more minor flaws that somebody can have.  I consider proof that we as a species still wallow in the primordial sludge to be all around us and present in those who do not use such low, crass, common language as much as those who do.

I cannot tell you how much I preferred working with a group of people who cursed and were "crude" over some people that I presently work with.  There may not be any bad language, but the back stabbing and ladder climbing while stepping on those beneath them is far more telling of how cheap and common we are.  If you honestly believe that ones class and their language dictate what kind of person they are I would have to suggest that you do not have experience working in diverse environments.

I would far sooner converse with somebody who curses that with a self righteous, judgmental, sanctimonious "holier than thou" type who is willing to step on others and attempt to engineer their failure.  Presently my working environment contains more of the latter than the former... But hey!  At least the language is clean. ::)

I have actually worked in diverse environments and I believe there are people who subvert the efforts of others in every work environment.  The major difference that I've found is that in the sadder and poorer parts of society more minds dwell among the negative aspects of life.  People there seem to have less of an ability to train their minds to rise above and overlook certain situations.  They are more likely to react before thinking.  They are more likely to react emotionally and physically.  They dwell in a world of resentments and grudges.

Using excessive words of a certain sort leaves the impression that you want to identify with people who 'can't make it in the world'.  Maybe you don't have the native ability to lift yourself out of the gutter - you are to be pitied.  But maybe you're the sort who is lazy and it's easier for you to wallow in that element of society.  I guess you are to be pitied then, as well.

I use 'you' rhetorically, I hope you realize that.

Where is Jasmunda today ?

Probably a bit further South training with the 50 foot SS Killer Penguin.

And hoping he doesn't run into Perris Penguinsbane.

So, any speculation on what Art has been doing (or has in store) since he hasn't been here in a few days to give us his worods or encouragement and to ease us?

Nothing so far. We're biding our time by keeping this alive alive. Topics: Portland, curse words, German Aussies, lawyer quessing, Noory bashing....the usual stuff.

I never did understand why there was such a diversity of accents in Australia, even though the country is not much larger than Texas. Arnold Swarzchenegger, for instance, has an entirely different accent than Mel Gibson, who was an entirely different accent than the Geico Lizard and Corcodale Dundee. In America you have a lot of accents but its a very big country --- almost as big as Russia. But then again, there is only one kind of Russian accent: the accent of the Bond Villain.

Psst... Dark Matter returns Dec. 2nd.

Art's been too busy drafting a press release blaming it all on Jasmunda and his fucking calls to DM.

As he retracts the exoneration heard on the Bellgab interview.

As a "real lawyer" on this forum, I am very suspicious about the user who posted he is representing Art with the NC. Concerns are: 1) the user purportedly solicited Art seeking to represent which is an ethical violation; 2) the user posted information concerning representation which breeches attorney/client confidentiality and is an ethical violation; and 3) the user requested assistance from nonlawyers with ideas and strategy for representation which is an egregious ethical violation in several respects.

If this user is in fact a lawyer whom Art has retained for representation I am very concerned about what appears to be inexperience and unprofessional conduct. If the user is not a lawyer then I advise caution against attempting to practice law without a license.  Either way, it does not seem good.

In his original post, Surmo doesn't say he is representing Art at that time, specifically, just that he is helping him.

In fact, in the latter part of the post he states, "as a final legal team and plan of action have been selected"

It was a day later that he called himself "Art's legal counsel"... he hasn't posted since then.

I am guessing that sometime between 11/14 and today a savvy lawyer joined the team who told everyone involved the STFU.  This also likely led to Art's message asking everyone to stop attacking Sirius directly, as that could have/would have led to complicating the whole matter with a counter-suit from Sirius.  This needs to be a single issue case... is the non-compete valid.

I am currently personally involved in a medium profile lawsuit as a plaintiff and our attorney has us on complete hush.  Everything we say on facebook, twitter, anywhere has to be carefully crafted so as to not reference the facts of the suit, or disparage any parties involved.  I had to dance around issues in a few interviews with reporters who were doing stories about the case and the parties involved.  Why do you think they posted and immediately removed the "How did the Free Art Bell" campaign start and the image gallery vanish from ArtBell.com?  Art can't be leading a charge against Sirius in any way.

But ... isn't that a case of closing the barn door after the horse has left ?

I don't want to look up the exact thread but Art didn't discourage us from making our efforts to let Sirius know how WE and the other AB fans felt.

And I don't think he thought about its going near viral which it was about to do when he pulled the plug on it.

Of course, I could be wrong. I'm not awake yet.

Art & Paul, I hope you are both doing well.  You probably can't comment on legal issues so I won't even ask.  Can't wait to hear you on the air again ASAP Art!

The poster was Surmo.  There was some debate as to whether or not he really was connected to Art.  Being as it has been a few days and there is no official denial it seems quite possible... Click on the link and go back to the long post. http://bellgab.com/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=2727

I read his posts. Can't buy Surmo as Art' s lawyer. I just hope Art actually has legal counsel and will fight the NC. Being quiet might be a good thing in this situation.

IcicleTrepan

By the way.. the people that are calling down others that use language that they personally don't like...

I know someone that sounds just like you.  JC Webster the 3rd.

Pandas cost more to take care of than elephants.

Pandas have been kept in zoos as early as the Western Han Dynasty in China, where the writer Sima Xiangru noted that the panda was the most treasured animal in the emperor's garden of exotic animals in the capital Chang'an (present Xi'an). Not until the 1950s were pandas again recorded to have been exhibited in China's zoos.

Chi Chi at the London Zoo became very popular. This influenced the World Wildlife Fund to use a panda as its symbol.

A 2006 New York Times article[90] outlined the economics of keeping pandas, which costs five times more than that of the next most expensive animal, an elephant. American zoos generally pay the Chinese government $1 million a year in fees, as part of a typical ten-year contract. San Diego's contract with China was to expire in 2008, but got a five-year extension at about half of the previous yearly cost.[91] The last contract, with the Memphis Zoo in Memphis, Tennessee, ends in 2013.

And two bits of world news that might be of interest to some :

Toronto City Council just voted to strip Mayor Ford of more powers.

And George Zimmerman just got arrested for assault.
