Totally agree. Please no more Gravity Sucks and starrmtn as hosts.   Let's be serious the audience wanted to see a fight and these two clowns were trying to shut it down. If they can't see that then they shouldn't be hosting. Also they both pretty much suck. One of them should check out their breathing problems. Themudking was a great moderator and I agree that Showroom Dummy should have his own show. Great voice.

I didn't understand why several of the hosts continued to interrupt, repeatedly trying to get them to make up and be friends either.  Maybe wait until after they'd both said their piece, that's why they called in.

If you go read the announcement, Curtis asked for volunteers to do one the next day. Usually there is 2-3 days notice. He wanted to test his new board set up. All I did was try to support him by saying that if he couldn't get volunteers, then I would help out. MV told me I was complicating matters.  The I should say I was in or out. So I said in. ALL of that was before the crap blew up between Bateman and (Redacted).

It was almost 2 hours before Showroom Dummy became the third volunteer. There was plenty of time for someone else to volunteer, and I even offered to remove myself to allow Cheftist and one other person to cohost if they desired. They chose not to.

Fair enough

This is MV's site and his show, he makes the rules, and has done a great of of it.

Having said that, one suggestion I'd make is to limit the guest hosts to something like twice every six months or so, just to get more of a variety of posters hosting.  Or at least not volunteer until, say, 24 hours have gone by after a new show has been announced.

Another suggestion is to not immediately answer the phone any time it happens to ring, too often it interrupts the flow of the conversation.
Not to worry.  I probably won't be volunteering after today.

Nah... We had show notes. It would have been a different show if Bateman didn't call in. Neither of them were planned calls. That was their own doing.

I know that it would have been a different show without Bateman. That was my whole point. And Heather was almost guaranteed to call in. She couldn't stop herself, clearly.

Auslandia

Btw why would Heather need to pay chefist back for the billboard anyway? That's the only part I didn't really understand.

If she wouldn't have called in people would have been talking shit about that. In this situation, its clear nothing can be done without somebody complaining and judging about something.

I really didn't want to do another one, since I just did one... I was just trying to help support Curtis. When the shit blew up between Bateman and (Redacted) I was REALLY sorry that I threw my hat in, but it was too late to back out.

I know MV wants a wide mixture of cohosts and I fully support that. If you have seen my posts after a GabCast, I actively encourage other people to give it a try. I help tell them what they need and offer whatever assistance I can.

I had a lot more fun doing the one in October and the one I did on New Years. And that is not a reflection on themudking. It is a reflection on the tension caused by the shit that happened between Bateman and (Redacted).

Both MV and themudking do an excellent job getting everybody comfortable during the sound check. This was obviously not your prototypical GabCast. We had no idea if either of them would call in. That is what makes it interesting I guess. You never know if you are going to get a 2 hour rant on Trump, Negro Spiritual music, Falkie, or find out the guy you thought was a Limey Bastard is really a pretty nice guy.

I highly encourage people to give it a shot.

The way I understand it, and Cheftist can certainly chime in... Cheftist paid for half and others chipped in as wel. After (Redacted) became producer, she offered to pay people back, but they weren't worried about it. Sometime last week Cheftist was simply voicing his disappointment with Art and mentioned that he had paid for half of the ad... He did it as a side note, to accentuate his disappointment with Art. When Heather saw the comment in the thread, she reminded him of her offer to pay it back and then offered again

I never saw the PMs between (Redacted) and Cheftist, but that is the way I understood the conversation last night. Cheftist didn't care about the money. He was just voicing his disappointment in the way Art quit.

I know but why would Heather make that offer?  I don't see what it had to do with her.

This is just conjecture on my part. I think once she became producer, and the subscription money started coming in, she just wanted to pay back the people that had dug into their own pockets to get the show started. She wasn't paying it out of her pockets, but was going to use MITD money to pay the people back.

That's the only reasonable explanation I could come up with.

I just assumed she thought she'd be acting for Art.

cool  not trying to put you on the spot   just curious    what else should we have asked?      i was checking the forum and asked anything i thought was interesting

As I said earlier, the questions Heather got asked (either as a result of Bateman's presence or not, or whether they were asked by hosts or callers) covered the necessary areas. It's more about how the hosts respond to the answers they get in a circumstance like this.

You can't exactly stand up and shout "Bullshit!" every time you hear it, or the guest will hang up and leave. But you can't roll over, either. Mudking, and you to an extent, had the benefit of Bateman shouting "Bullshit!" for you. The other co-hosts seemed to have no problem with Heather's statements.

Remove Bateman and the result would not have been good, IMO. I give everyone credit for doing their thing, but Heather strikes me as someone who absolutely needed a tough interviewer.

If you have not listened to the recent gabcast, get on it. You'll be glad you did.

Yes.  You knew it was going to get interesting once Bateman called in.

I'm still listening to it now.  It just a didn't seem that great of an idea to do all that on a podcast.  I mean, it was great radio but I wouldn't have done it personally lol.

Bateman puts the BULLSHIT into every show!

I keed, I keed.  ;)

But it's bullshit the man can't put together a regular show by now. It's time to fish or cut bait bate man.  :D

chefist

I just started listening as I missed the first 30 min. Interested into what was said during that time...

Telling the world about a woman's meltdown is, at a minimum, unchivalrous. I did not care for bateman's behavior on the Gabcast at all.   Have no idea about things that happen off-air, but I heard enough on-air to know that he's a dick.

I said it before, and I will say it again. There were no winners last night. It is a lose-lose situation when you start airing dirty laundry in a public forum.

i understand what your saying   --she seemed to be getting a little upset at times so it was tough to "go for it"    and with that there are all different directions you can  go in interviewing   very hard to press without being face to face   part of any good interviewing is  being able to read reactions ect    very hard with just your ears over the phone   plus    i only knew so many facts  and yeah with bateman there   --it made it easier to just let him tow the line since it invovled him  ect

It always gets uncomfortable when someone gets called out for narcissistic behaviour and meltdowns.  It's even worse when it happens to a woman.

It's certainly not the road I would have taken.

It's just kind of sociologically interesting to listen to a podcast about a forum about a radio host who is retired hash out a beef between a fill in show host and another radio host with a competing show.  I heard the planets were aligning soon.  I need to take a glance outside to make sure it didn't happen already.

so ultimately he should have just let the mud be flung at him and said nothing?
