I bought a big fat microphone and a microphone stand and an External Sound Mixer and a new headset and...cables...and I have a live stream now and a fancy new pop-up web page thingie just like Art's....and and and....gawd help me.

I blame Art.

Well....not giving the link out yet, unless in a PM to you and if, and only if, you promise NOT to share it with anyone....cuz the show ain't up yet. I am still swearing at buttons and downloading software and....*sigh*...so much to do. It should be very very soon though...maybe in a few days, I hope.

But oh the page is sexy....I will PM it to you, k? It is up on the net but not accessible to the public yet.

Not sure about that .. you probably will want to email Keith about that.     webmaster@artbell.com
Oh second thought, I don't know why I was yelling.  It's only $5 bucks.  I'll just tell Keith to  put the extra $5.00 toward donations.  After all, it's for our Art Bell! ;D

I am legitimately suffering the effects of sleep deprivation thanks to RCH. His "BRRAAAAAP, Bellgab" acknowledgement last night (to Dean Haglund, no less) had me practically in tears I was laughing so hard.

I know, he had me rolling over that one too. That's happened a number of times, I lost it badly when he called the crab on Mars "sordid" the other week ago.

Hoagland's totally worth a listen. He's like a mystifying Jekyll and Hyde in that he can turn off RCH and go into Dick Cavett mode and pull off decent, informed interviews within an entertaining, quirky framework. I don't buy a single theory of Hoagland's, but I wouldn't change a thing about his show.

Dick Cavett mode is a great description, Sci. He definitely has that same quick-thinkingness and, I'm just starting to realize, a fairly decent sense of humor (that perhaps isn't particularly un-Cavett-like).

Could the Hoag be winning over BellGab??

Yes, yes, you have it, SciFi.  That's what's surprised me.  Hoagie goes from his mad scientist torsion field, 19.5 loonie mode to an amazingly entertaining interviewer with a relatively sane, quite knowledgable contribution.  Noory did RCH and us a big favor by welching on his bet and attempting to shaft Art.

We do need more cowbell...errr, Brrraaaaps!, though.

Hoagie would have always been fine if he had remembered his roots as a science writer and not an actual scientist.

That's something that I thought about over the last week. It was eating at me, Hoagland's style reminded me of someone but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it hit me, Dick Cavett. I think he won over Bellgab last night with the braaaps if he hadn't already.

I know, it amazed me too. I was listening to him do an engaged informed interview with Garetano the other night about filmmaking and I'm thinking "This is Hoagland?"

I agree, he should have stuck with popularizing science.

Haha that's perfect.  Last night, I was trying to think of an SCTV parody of a news guy who reminded me of Hoagland.  Dick Cavett was not it, but that works too.

I think it was Walter Cronkite and Brinkley....it was hilarious, I remember.  "Well Walter...."
I think the Brinkley character was half in the bag most of the time ...

I was a HUGE RCH hater, but his show is decent. My favorite hosts go Art->George Knapp->RCH->A dead dog->Dave

Almost the same as my list.  My favorite hosts go Art->George Knapp->RCH->A dead dog->A talking cow pie->Dave.

I would add to that something I once saw on an old thread somewhere:

Noory -> a monkee [sic] -> John B. Wells.

That spelling of monkey has always just fit somehow.
