I'm looking forward to Joe Rogan - his podcast has been recommended but I've never caught up with him.  I think somebody mentioned that he's sharp on horizon physics topics, and I could listen to that stuff all day =)
He's one of my fave interviewers, and really the only youtube podcast that I pay attention to. I still re-listen to some of his shows. Here's a good example although the world first few minutes of discussion might be more appropriate in the Satan's lawyer chick thread.

I note that Art's guest on Friday, Andrew Basiago, states at around 1:30 in the recorded show that he met with somebody in the "abandoned" parking lot of the Wolf Creek ski resort in Colorado. The lot was empty, according to Basiago, because it was June. That didn't ring true, so I checked. This is from the resort's web site:

"From free continental breakfast to booking your scenic tour, Wolf Creek Ski Lodge offers year-round service with style."

http://thewolfcreekskilodge.com/wolf_creek_ski_lodge_about_us.html

These days, at least, the place will certainly not be "abandoned" during the summer months. In fact, their site also says this:

"As owner-operators, we're always on site, always on call and ready to serve you"

Such resorts have long had summer activities.

It seems to me, that you keep side stepping the issue. Yes of course there are teachable moments. Unlike you, I get to follow patients for at least six months. Health promotion is ongoing. And yes teaching someone they have the power to make healthier choices is always the best strategy. This debate started over metaphysical therapies being as effective as current modalities...

Not true.  Because of limited healthcare resources, or because patients with chronic physical and/or mental illnesses are unable/unwilling to use them, we see the same ones for months, even years.  We are on a first-name basis with many of our regulars.  Every day is a lesson in treatment strategies.

"Side stepping"?  I did not propose that metaphysical therapies are "as effective as current modalities".  In fact, the point I made is that we might find a middle ground of effective treatment strategies from a broad range of practices that encompass and respect people's individual belief systems.

I've got something to say.
I really loved the skilful way
You beat the other girls to the bride's bouquet!

The river was deep but I swam it, Janet
The future is ours so let's plan it, Janet
So please don't tell me to can it, Janet
I've one thing to say and that's
Dammit, Janet, I love you...

The road was long but i ran it, Janet
There's a fire in my heart and you fan it, Janet
If there's one fool for you then I am it, Janet
Now I've one thing to say and that's
Dammit, Janet, I love you...

Here's a ring to prove that I'm no joker
There's three ways that love can grow
That's good, bad or mediocre
Oh J-A-N-E-T I love you so

So what is your evaluation of your teachable moments? And I do not mean that to be contentious. My observation is that in very acute/emergent situations learning new coping skills is at best very limited. I know about your frequent fliers as well. Some of my clients are on that spectrum. The only method I have found to be effective is motivational interviewing, in essence meeting the client where they are in their life. I would like to visit your ER, it doesn't sound like most of the ones I visit.

Forgive my point of view and bias here.

Thank you morgana.  I'll refrain from the sharing the rectal foreign body stories, even though they might be considered on topic with the alien rectal probe posts.  Haha
Ha!  :)

I used to be a registered nurse.  I did not work in the ICU, but whenever I had to go there for any reason (to transport a patient for example), or when I was in the ICU as a nursing student, I noticed the air seemed of a very fine, soft and more gentle material.

This different atmosphere is due to many kind ones from the other side of life, coming to assist people who are passing over, these kind ones from the other side are family, friends, angels, and other people who care, perhaps you could call them health care providers of some sort.  Just as there is framework and support for sick people in the physical, it exists on the other side as well.

When someone says "love is in the air", this is a very literal thing.

No disrespect intended, Steve's Dark City is great!!!   But let's not have anyone on MITD other than Art as host.  It is HIS show...it IS the "Art Bell Show".

Sure lets hear more Steve on the weekends--but on his own show, his own brand of things as he has been doing.

That is C2C these more recent days... back in the days, when Art was off it was a replay...  I personally like Art's show to be 100% his until he decides that it is time to stop.  There is NOTHING wrong with newer talent being in his timeslot on the weekends, but let us let them develop their own brand and programs.  Part of our continuity into the decades ahead.

doctor weird

just found out we are getting Joe Rogan 2night & tbh im excited, but curious to see where this might go. Is Art going to talk a little UFC?

I agree with this.  Someone just needs to convince Art and Keith.  And if Steve/Bateman does shows Saturday and Sunday nights, I think they should be live.

I've heard that Joe has interest in the paranormal, too.

AppealPlay

Yeah, I'm not sure what Art is trying to do with Rogan.  I'm sure it will be good but aside from DMT, marijuana, and isolation tanks what is Rogan going to talk about?

AppealPlay

I think Ian Punnett should host the weekend show.  I liked him on the other show.

Maybe that's why Joe Rogan is only on for an hour.

Ah, he's just the first hour guest?  That makes more sense then.

I sort of hope Art speaks to Rogan off-air about how to build an empire. Then, we will have lots and lots of Art.
