Believe it or not, this is a pelican. 105k or more, gallons of oil "leaked" into the Pacific Ocean, near Santa Barbara yesterday. Stretching across approx 9 miles of beach and about 50 yards out to sea. It's horrible.

And it took them 3 hours AFTER knowledge of the "leak" to shut it down and no safety systems automatically kicked it? Hope they get him cleaned up (Dawn runs all these commercials down here, esp after BP Gulf disaster) that it cleans birds.

Yeah it was horrible here. I flew crews in and out during BP. You could see the fire from 60 miles away.
