Too funny - but I guess if the segue is there, no matter how awkward, you've got to jump on it!
I hate thinking of Dave and "jump on it" at the same time.

That's what Art thought.  Works for me.

The Taco Bells?

We are supposed to be the shit, and not give people the shits. So I'll stick with being vaguely loveable.

I think the squirrel who suggested bellnauts was joking though. We just went with it. This forum has a tendency to grind a joke into the ground, lol.

Heck it's still better than my first idea, "The Saved-by-the-Bells".  (I was worried we'd all fight over who gets to be Zack.)

I wonder who will be Jessie, and star in the remake of Showgirls... and Falkie would make a great Screech.

/I'm so excited.

I can't believe MeTV lowered it's standards and shows that abomination.  "Welcome Back, Kotter" is bad enough.  What's next, "Hannah Montana" labeled as a classic?

Unfortunately, although now I guess fortunately, I don't get MeTV but times/places when I do it is basically I all watch besides sports. Sad that shows like that are now "classics" but, I guess, as people age there will be people who think tripe is classic simply due to age or memories. Whereas the good shows, with good writing and acting, will never get old and are real classics. Just as you can listen to old AB shows and still enjoy them.

If it makes anyone feel any better I think I might have been the target audience for Saved By the Bell but I didn't like it, I didn't know anyone that did. I think it may have been one of those things that they try to push down your throat "you will listen or watch this" Like all those songs that came between the songs you did like on the radio. For example remember that awful song they played every five minutes by Starship "We Built This City"? ug

Fortunately, they haven't picked-up "Friends" or "Ancient Aliens."  Yet.  Just a matter of time until some souless corporate wienies trash their identity and completely lose their way.  C2C, anyone?

You gotta' love SyFy showing wrestling, Nat Geo's shows about drug dealing, and Hystory with ice road alien truckers. I miss when they showed all Hitler all the time.

This brings a question, I know there are a lot of radio people here. What is up with filling the airwaves with really bad songs that no one seems to like? Is there some nefarious reason like just forcing it upon us to get the producer of the song money?

Ha!  I think that was the beginning of the end of cable/ satellite for me.  If you can't count on tuning into goosestepping Nazis 24/7,  forget it.

The radio industry is full of Noory types.  They're just phoning it in til the curtains fall. Some of them are in FM music stations and some of them host Coast to Coast.  Radio is on its way out, sadly.  I say sadly because I love radio - I don't even know why.  But I do really love it.  However, no one cares.  And as soon as advertising execs figure out (they're not the smartest lot) that they just aren't reaching anyone anymore on radio, it will be mostly dead air.  The FM dial will be converted to data broadcasting eventually... that's my prediction.  And AM can only be saved by original, fresh talk content.  But that won't happen either.  AM will be a polyglot all up and down the AM dial - mariachi music, Islamic calls to prayer, Russian recipe talk, etc... all the languages you can think of except for a few stale English speaking political talk shows that the last few angry Americans can listen to.  It's a bleak future we face.

It got to a point where everyone just called it the Hitler Channel, and then it when to ice road truckers... and a bunch of other shit shows including stuff about guns which discovery followed suit on until their gun guy got busted for molesting children. Tv is in a sad state with all these pervs, and reality shows. We won't even get into MTV.

Remember when MTV actually played music?

Absolutely. I was looking through the tv guide to see what they have on now, and saw something called Teen Mom OG followed by a show of Catfishing. WTF is up with that?!?

Hey The General you're (x) of the Fret Files right? If not the rest will be kind of embarrassing. I listened to a few of your shows, and will listen to them all. Ever since I picked up The Guitar Handbook 20 years ago I've wanted to build my own guitar. Probably not going to happen though, hehe.

I think i should have said I was talking about radio 20 years ago, I realize radio is on its way out but what was the deal back then?

Yes that's me.
Seems real odd to see my name on the forum though.
Thanks for listening.

Beats the hell out of me. ALL the reality shows these days make me think we, as a society, are SO screwed. Sometimes I get the feeling an EMP/giant asteroid wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

I find myself thinking that if there was a button to send us all back to the Stone Age I might be tempted to hit it.

Ermahgerd.

I'm thinking this is exciting to the Scorpion Army. Maybe someone could explain said army to the newer folks. It's a cool name and would make a great design on a leather jacket. Just thinking aloud. So excited.

Yes - somebody please explain.  It is a cool name, but I unfortunately do not get the reference.  Thanks in advance!
