Juan

I have to defend Noory a little - 10-years in the close confines of the Cheap Channel west coast headquarters would beat down anyone.

I am 99% positive that the only place George said that about putting arts name back in was here at coastgab. Unless he mentioned it on air.

If so either Art has been following the nonsense Gnoory has been posting here or some one sent him a recap.

If art is here reading, I just want to say hi! Can't wait for you to kick butt.

I think you're right. I almost positive I never heard Dave mention he removed Art's name on the air, but I do remember the comment he made to us.  And *waves* hey Art!  ;D

Ill try to post more--almost show time....
Art (whom I adore) has always wanted to be removed from the show....so I decided to take his name of the credits---which I put back on....because it was silly  not to..he created the show.

As for my style..Im sorry I am who I am...the show is hugely successful ....weve grown it from 445 to 573 stations..and ratings are at an all time high..we have a great team here. I had to adjust the show..we couldnt be paranormal all the time...our stations want and appreciate the variety.

As for the anger towards me...gosh..let it go, Im sure you are all great people.....
be well

Ten years Noory has squatted in The House That Art Built. On September 16, Art takes the keys back.
I believe on the 16th Art takes possession of a new house leaving Noory in a house that is in the exact condition you would expect to find it after a decade of somebody squatting.  The roof is leaking, the floor is rotting, walls are water damaged and have paint peeling, the water, electricity and sewer have been turned off leaving a stinking mess of sewage overflowing the toilet and running across the floor disappearing down a floor drain.

No, after a decade I think Art is content to allow George to keep possession of the broken down dump presently infested with bedbugs, lice, rats and cockroaches while he moves his possessions into a new construction little bungalow across town...

What are the odds that JC (the real one) calls Art during the new show's first open lines?

Yes, I get that and buy that...but the one point Art seems off on is him saying he only knew George as that "paranormal guy" from St. Louis.

When Art said "George gets it"--it was after years of George being a Coast host.

I think you may be assuming that Art was engaged with Coast to Coast and what was going on when he wasn't there.  All of that was going on during his many personal crises that were keeping him away from the show. And at that time, the show was no longer his, he really didn't have a say in anything. He'd wanted Ian, who turned it down because he thought he was leaving radio. The network picked Dave and wanted Art to say something in the form of a blessing.

There's a lot that was going on behind the scenes at that time. He had problems with his son, David Oates, the network and who knows what all else. It sounds like he may be willing to finally talk about it all publicly.

I think you're right. His boredom with the format and the guests overcame the tiny amount of pride in doing a good job which he had. I don't know what it is he'd rather be doing, but based on his performance over the last 10 years it's clearly not being the host of a nationwide overnight alt radio show. I think he'd rather be a lounge singer. More like a Vegas headliner.

Barring some unfortunate and unknown underlying mental and/or physiological cause, the most likely explanation for his precipitous decline is that he chose to phone it in once the catbird seat was secured beyond all reasonable doubt. Like you said, tedium probably played a huge part in his substandard performance too. He threw in the towel, and he went on automatic pilot, one show blending into the next as he went through the daily motions in something akin to a stupor, sometimes barely registering a pulse. Art made his comment when Noory still was engaged.

Morgus

The Somewhere in Time that played earlier tonight had open lines from 1997 and a special call in line for men in black and time travelers.
I recognized one of the callers that was a frequent caller back in the 90's.
He claimed to be both a man in black and a time traveler.
Other times he called in (same voice) he was Steve a commander in the Galactic Federation.
This show also featured the first call in by Steven Gibbs telling about his 'fidgets' devices he built.
Gibbs was brought back as a guest several times after that appearance.

As long as Art Bell is the devils mouthpiece there is a chance he will call... lets keep the faith

jazmunda

i wasn't a fan of Noory when he took over primarily because he wasn't Art and we had already been through the Mike Siegel debacle.

Over time he sort of grew on me but that was partly due to the fact that there was not much of an alternative and Art was doing regular weekends and I couldn't listen all that much during the week at that stage in my life so I only really caught his Friday night open lines shows and Art's weekend shows.

Slowly slowly I noticed a decline in George and was starting to lose total interest in him, his style and his repetition from show to show particularly the next time he would have the same guest on. He probably truly jumped the shark when he did that debacle of a ouja board show.

I have not listened to him since about 2008 and that was probably a few years too long.

Thank the gods that Art is back. Even if he phones it in in his sleep he will be more entertaining than George at his best.

I don't know if it was mentioned here or not, there's been thousands of posts here and it's hard to keep up :D

Question: how can I listen to the radio show, live, in central Europe? Is it possible to subscribe to Sirius and listen to the web stream, 100% legally?
If not, will this forum be able to post links to recorded shows on youtube, torrents or other?

Quote from: ringthane on August 31, 2013, 12:03:57 AM
You aren't subscribing/listening, ergo nobody else is, so it'll just be us 23 CoastGab mouthbreathers to hear it.

/sarcasm off

By my count it's 26.

You can get an ip proxy service for about $5 per month (sometimes cheaper), then subscribe to sirius online and set your ip to the us before you listen. It should work. estimated cost is around $20(15 sirius + 5 proxy) US per month.

I just got my sirius up and running a week or so ago to practice using it and aloso fiddle around with the recording feature. Its ok overall but talk radio has become a wasteland.

Oh yes Morgus. Who can miss the caller Steve. He is so FOS and everytime I hear his voice on the call I get nauseated. He sounds like a psychopathic, pathological liar. So smug. I am really glad you posted this because that guy has p'ed me off for a long time.

Hahaha...the "Dark Matter" snack of choice. :)

Okay, just asking...  is there any chance one could find a free link to Art's first episode or two on this forum when the show actually opens?  I know we're only talking about 16 bucks a month, but at this particular point, that's an expediture I can't run with.

Seems like I remember Art saying something about Sirius offering 1 free month for Art Bell fans - it was somewhere on artbell.com at one point - you should check it out.  That's all I can do for now as well.
PS-It's still there: http://artbell.com/how-to-listen-to-art-bell/

Yeah, you can get the first month for free but look at the other thread about a chatroom. That might help

Just today we were discussing what we should eat the night of the 16th. Hubby, out of the blue, asked, "what is Art's favorite food?" He was planning on what we will be eating during the first show! It cracked me up. I told him the only thing I could think of was steak. I always remember Art giving the vegetarian-callers a bit of a hard time as he said how much he enjoyed a nice steak. No pizza rolls that night for us.
Does anyone else recall other foods Art liked? And don't say south asian veal.

Could have pizza and make some home made pizza punch.

I'm planning on making a bunch of appetizers.

Hey! Didn't someone publisch a book about late night snacks?
Who could that....oh, never mind.

I once thought that pizza punch was a drink. It made me sick to think about it.
