Is that a reference to Popeye porn!?

Man did I miss this Onan character while I was gone.  BTW, driving through the Mojave Desert the other night, listening to Coast on the AM radio (the way it's supposed to be heard) I heard Richard Toadgland ask Noory something like "Do you know how many (x) sized meteors fall to earth every single day?"  George answered- "More than I can count!"  And Richard says "One hundred and eight."  Hah!  Maybe the show is just more funny in the middle of the night, in the Mojave, blasting from an AM radio.

OMG, Aldous, that does bring back memories.  Early nineties, driving across Nevada to California at night (of course, when it's cool), nothing but the white line ahead and Art Bell to fill up the night with possibilities, impossibilities and bumper music that made you glad to be alive and riding in the night.

I especially loved the Sultans of Swing for desert driving.

Apparently there is quite a community of old white guys.  This fellow expat in Philippines has been married to this young girl for SEVEN years!  Couldn't be happier!  I'm sure they have lots in common...sorry for double...

That's not Asia. That's his wife Airyn. Asia is like 4 years old.

From my old workplace I became acquainted with seven individuals who fit that description(white guys ranging in age from 48-63) who had far younger brides from Asia, with some occurrences of their bethrothed barely knowing rudimentary English. And I'm not even including the four other guys I worked with who had their Ukrainian child brides.

For each their own and all of that...but in all honesty, it kind of creeped me out.

Then again, I'm on the cusp of 36 and feel my fiance(who's 32) and I have a "Hey Nineteen" relationship more often than not...(there's an example right there-unintentionally!-, I just referenced a 1980 Steely Dan song and she would have no clue what I'm talking about)

I met my wife when she was eighteen. I was thirty. She thought that I was younger, and I thought that she was older. We clicked, and that's all that really and truly mattered to us. Some people might not approve of older adults dating/wedding younger adults. Who cares? Life is too short to worry about whether or not society approves of one's relationships. I could cluck my tongue at Bell's "child bride", but it might be borderline hypocritical to do so.

My parents were 28 and 18 when they met(and soon married) with similar circumstances to yours. So I wouldn't necessarily consider that a really significant gap...especially considering they came from the same neighborhood/culture etc. It was organic

However, when you start talking a 58 year old and a 20 year old from half way around the globe,it's a different ball game.

<Embarassed>  I was 28 when the wife and I met, she was 17.  It was in a foreign country so it was legal, ok?

     Aha, another one!

I admit to being envious of yooze guys, because I couldn't get 17 year old girls-especially when I was 17! :( ...and by the time I was 28, I gave off the vibe of a defeated bastard rapidly approaching early on-set middle age.

It sounds more provocative in written form than it was in real life.  In many ways, she was more mature, advanced, and possibly even experienced than myself at the time.  We're ripening up together.  I was a late bloomer, just having finished up with puberty somewhere in my mid 40's.

Hi GuildNavigator!  I was just going to post yesterday asking what the heck happened to you.  Glad you're here.   Now back to the topic... all you have to do to attract a nubile young woman is buckle down, become rich and go pluck one off the woman tree in a tropical paradise.

You each have the main thing each of you is looking for.

No arguing over politics, religion, your putz family is on the other side of the world, all your ex's live in Texas, your ungrateful grown children are forgotten.  You and Ms. Puberty have a darling baby in common, which is much more fun to talk about than what the grown kids have to say, like, "Why didn't you come to my play/graduation/baseball games."

Then when you get really old (like in 5-10 years), you have a nurse that loves you and will massage your carbuncles and hold your leash while you float in your air chair (WAIT--that was Dune).

HEY, I remember him!  He was in San Leandro having his picture taken with George Noory--he's the president of the FB fanpage!

Seriously.  Now why would a gentleman like this go half way around the world for a bride?

We firstwives told them to floss and eat less meat, but would they listen?  No.

So, answer this one, why aren't the wealthy women going to the Philippines for young male husbands?

Heh, heh.

The Baron Harkonnen looks like he just stumbled out of George Noory's Health Seminar. The photos of the people there looked damn near this raunchy.

Last time I heard the last few minutes of Coast, which was recently, I noticed George did not say his thank you or whatever it was to Art. I mean, he's human so he does have some standards and he probably does realize doing that would be just mean since he was the reason Art left.

As for Art saying, "until they call me back", I do remember that but I think he did not foresee it happening... unless he foresaw them doing it in desperation.

It's a no win situation getting the truth out of George and I think Ian feels caught in the middle and will just politely decline to answer, which I think he already has, on the topic of what happened to Art. I remember him responding on the air to this question once and the definite vibe was, " I know what happened, I'm not down with it but I will not say anything negative about anyone and hey, I like this gig and want to keep it."

Personally, my feelings are George is a selfish dunce who will get eventual payback... maybe it will just be in the form of the producers realizing they made a mistake letting him take over and getting rid of him. My main question and concern is: Are Art and his family okay and I miss not hearing him, at least every once in a while. Hopefully they're all happy and healthy and after a little while he'll come back to public life in some way. I'd be happy if he at least had a web presence and we could hear from him every once in a while. He's a very smart guy.  Also, I wouldn't mind hearing Ian more. Sometimes I wonder if they stuff he talks about his of his own choosing but I like to listen to him anyway. Just wish he'd stop the stuttering and sort of verbal hemming and hawing but I think he's just trying to say things in a way that will not offend anyone and maybe trying a little to hard to sound humble. I can't wait til his "book for adults" as he put it, comes out. (I'm sure it's totally G rated... just not about Dizzy the Mutt). 8)

In regards to the "Ghost to Ghost" show last year, there's one point that has been overlooked. At the end of the night, Art said "When they next call my name, I'll come back and we'll do this one more time". I presume the "one more time" would have been the prediction show (which evidently they did reach out to him to do, and he declined). So I don't think, as of then, it was intended to be his last show, but his NEXT TO LAST show, and something happened subsequently to change that--whether the above speculations are valid, who knows? But SOMETHING changed, and has kept him off the Coast airwaves since then (though of course Lisa Lyons has said Art is "welcome back to the mic" whenever he has something to say).

Regardless, even if that show wasn't intended to be the LAST Art-hosted C2C, it was clearly in his mind ONE of the last, a fact that--the better part of a year later--has become more and more obvious.

BTW I haven't listened lately--does George still mention Art's name at the end of the show every night?

It certainly is a different ball game. At least, he's not playing in the minors.

According to those ex-pats, my wife hasn't been born yet.

I'm 41.

NEWS FROM THE FUTURE:

As the male/female birth ratio continues to decline for females, concerns are being raised regarding the availability of potential mates for these genetically enhanced male babies, acknowledged as the future leaders of the world.  With ratios becoming more and more unbalanced, the parents of attractive female children are lifting their whole families out of poverty by negotiating advance marriages for these little beauties.

Since gender shortages are most severe in Asia, Chinese and Japanese men comprise the majority of audience members at the Golden Tiaras Beauty Pageant.  Winners are promised in marriage to wealthy sponsors who will insure their little prize gets an education while their new family benefactor provides housing and a job for each member of the family!

The Facial Dome (named after Facial Dynamics, the well-known corporation) wants to live up to its pledge of a balanced face for all through the promise of genetic modification.  Each contestant is the product of careful DNA rebalancing and a walking advertisement for the benefits of biotechnology for all.

Parents who take advantage of Facial Dynamics limited time offer can have their developing fetus feminized and balanced absolutely free with the understanding that the children will be made available as mates, with parental approval of course, to the sponsors once they reach twelve years of age.

The program has raised concerns by some citizens; however, in the absence of all other programs to assist those in proverty to meet basic needs, it seems like a win-win solution for everyone.

Each of the young girls assure our reporter that the arrangement is completely voluntary and they are "in love" with the idea.

Morphia, I've heard people use that expression "one more time" all my life, meaning simply "again." Must be a Southern thing, and since I believe Art was originally from North Carolina, he may or may not have meant that literally.  In my part of the woods, it generally is used to imply great weariness in doing something again.

Gives us a little more leeway in our guessing game, don't you think?  :-\

I totally new instantly what a full Silkwood is. . . great to see a few of us still kicking around the Olde American.  My kids look at me puzzled when I say things like that (even fer Christ sake Beatles references like "maybe it's a Walrus scenario".  One asked politely, "Mom, don't you mean seal pups?"   Sigh.

I had to remind her how often she said "Rolf" back in the day when she was a teen.

I especially like it when my kids are trying to "educate" me about "their" music and I start singing along with whatever artist happens to be covering Dylan at the moment............Jaws hit the floor when they think mom has been listening to the brand new song they just discovered.

Of course, they won't go to the movies with me anymore.  Since I'm usually the only one laughing at some reference to some "remembered" event of my youth.

Ah, kids............................;)              Ah, old age...................................;)
