A tiny ripple has disturbed the calm surface where the ashes of the Art Bell Quits Coast were distributed.  Fascinated, I have been observing an internet war breaking out over the competing Fake-NotFake-Fake Art Bell facebook pages.

There's Art Bell III, presumed to be Fort Rock, although he denies it.

There's Art Bell IV (I'm just carrying forward the numbering) which boasts a Philippine ISP and invites visitors to check the authenticity by emailing the old artbell mindspring email, which used to be "full" several months ago and now offers an automated answer "yes, it's me" type reply.  Morphiaflow vouches that this one is authentic.

There's also Airyn Bell's facebook page, which has as accepted members all of the Art Bells without discriminating.  So that isn't helpful.  She posts a horoscope every day and talks to her real friends and family in Tagalog (I presume).

Fantastic Forum's owner passed away, you probably all know that.  One of the moderators there started a Fantastic Forum II and LO!  Art purportedly set up an ID there and is posting.  This prompted the original FF to say they are not dead, are doing fine and FF2's Art Bell is not authentic.  All of these people post here as well, sooooooo.....

I'd like some of our trusted buddies to share.  If you have received a post from Art in whatever forum you're on and believe it's legit, do share.  There is interesting gossip out there and we need to move it to it's appropriate place, right here to revive this poor thread from the dead, in the spirit of Harold Camping.

FOR EXAMPLE:  Word from one post was that the condo association had refused to allow Art to have his antenna and because of that he is moving to Subic Bay.  Which, being right by the volcano, seems like an odd choice for the Last Days.

Puff, puff, press, press, ON TO PAGE 86!!!!

Anagrammy, doin' her part

Morrigu

Well as the mother of a child a few months older than his daughter, I'm of the opinion that the Art Bell here http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001143852663 is likely the real deal.  Before Linnea at FF passed (and the which FF is which) he had made a comment that the AB Id on FB without a picture was him, and that's the one that only recently got a pic of he and Asia.  Art Bell III has an old pic of the three of them just added, and it's an older pic of when Asia was about 18 months, as compared to the more recent picture.

Another thing that just proves to me personally that  the Art Bell III identity is false; Art Bell III recently posted about taking in a new cat, that she was found in a drum that they collect rain with.

Problem in that is - he lives in a hi-rise condo, and they likely do not have a place to store something like that, as well as knowing how condo associations operate, I could not see the condo association letting something like that remain on the roof of a building such as the Bells live in.  Another detail regarding this cat was she's a big old beautiful Himalayan type long hair cat, and I remember hearing Art talking about the stray cats around there being so much tinier than the average cat here in the US...

A quick look on Airyn Bell's facebook friendlist reveals that it's just Art Bell not the Arthur W. Bell III that is on her friends list... that in of itself is a bit revealing.

Nope, not a word here.  :(

Aaaaaaaand 86!

From Wikipedia:

Usage of "86"

Today, the term "86'd" is widely used in American culture and beyond.

    * In 1968, when Norman Mailer had a week long party in the East Hamptons, the July 31, New York Times article; "Mailer Film party Real Bash: 1 Broken Jaw, 2 Bloody Heads" by Anthony Lukas writes; ""He told me, 'You're 86'd,'" Mr. Smith recalled yesterday. This is a barroom phrase that means "you're banned in here."

    * In 1975, Charles Bukowski uses the term 86'd in the novel Factotum to describe being outed from a bar, "We were 86'd, walked down the street looking for another bar."

    * In the Late 1970s New York Times columnist, Millstein frequently used the term 86'd in his articles. In the October 26, 1977 article, "A Night on the Tiles at Berry's" he writes; "(He'd been 86'd out of another place owned by the Reisdorffs for tweaking a man's nose only a short while before.)", and in the April 26, 1978 article, "Bistro: The View From the Grill; All in a day's work: burgers and Schopenhauer" he writes; "Sometimes somebody who is 86'd, a term that means the person is kicked out ..."

    * In a February 2, 2010 article in the New York Times, Columnist Glenn Collins quoted the Pegu Club's owner as saying; "... she immediately "86'd the Earl Gray" - ceased serving it - because of the seriousness of the violation and because the inspector recommended..."

    * In a July 16, 2009 Chicago Tribune article; "Sweet & Savories restaurant pares prices but not the flavor", by food critic Phil Vettel writes, "You'll always find steak frites on the menu, and I imagine if Richards 86'd the lobster risotto there would be rioting."

    * In the 2009 book "86'd: A Novel (P.S.)" by Dan Fante is about a guy who gets fired and battles his alcoholism.[2]

    * In 2008, in Unalaska, Alaska, the sign outside of the Unisea bar read "If you fight on these premises, you will be 86'd for an indefinite period of time."[3]

    * In Mark Romanek's 2002 movie One Hour Photo, the customer number system is at 86 just before Robin Williams's character is fired.

    * In 1993, the Golden Globe winning, television series Northern Exposure, "Jaws of Life" episode, written by Robin Green & Mitchell Burgess; John Cullum's character, Holling Vincoeur, owner of the bar "Brick" uses the term eighty-six on Chris Stevens, played by John Corbett who is drunk and is insulting other guests[4].

    * In the 1995 Academy Award nominated film, Leaving Las Vegas the phrase is used by Nicolas Cage's character Ben Sanderson, while at a bar in the middle of the day.

    * In 1995, the song "86" on Green Day's double-platinum Insomniac album talks about how the band was rejected by their own Punk Rock community after they became popular[5].

8 + 6 = 14

1 + 4 = 5

I was 5 for a whole year!    :)

this thread is the new random stupid things on your mind

btw - jesus could still show up any moment for the rapture.  he'd just float up on a cloud and be like .... hey guys sorry i'm late

Now to page 87, then 88.
Art Bell's Program was branded Coast to Coast in 1988... Coincidence? I do not think so.

To keep a thread alive and healthy, it must have meat.  Since we have no facts, for our meat we must substitute tofu, or TVP instead of facts; however, speculation (like insects) can keep you alive while waiting for something more substantial:

Has anyone heard the flashword going around the Knapp and Art are planning a 2012 special?

LOL! That would be a hoot hearing all the callers claiming that every flash of "heat" lightning or the rumbling of a distant train or a weird cloud formation is the harbinger of the cataclysm to come.

"Art? Art? I'm out here in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and I just saw the sky light up like a fireworks display. Do you think it's starting, Art? I'm betting it's beginning! I also think I saw a UFO during the flash. In fact, now that I think of it, I DID see a UFO! It HAS started! Okay, Art, I need to go. I haven't put all the supplies into my shelter yet ... *click* Bzzzzzzzzzzz ....

Art: "Well, I suppose now we all know that the end of the world has begun in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma *chuckles*  East of the Rockies, you're on the air with Art Bell. Hi!"

Caller: "I told you it was those Canadians and homosexuals! I told you they would rot in a pit of sewage with, with, with bugs and, and, and spiders. How DARE you encourage this filth, Mr. Bell. You are the devil's mouthpiece and I am here to tell you about the New Revelation. I am sinless and YOU, Mr. Bell, are full of sin and ...

Art: "Hello, JC ..."

And another thing! I don't like what the queers are doing to the soil!

*ahem*

Anyway. An Art/Knapp 2012 special would rock and would certainly take the piss out of Noory's take on the topic...wonder WHERE they would do it?

That said, I think this thread's death knell was the legit Art facebook page. Though I'm sure posts will trickle on from here now and then for a while yet...just cuz, you know?

The gay spreads, people. Just like cancer in your little toe.

And that is why Art quit.

I'm not like the others here in the trailer park.

Maybe Michael should re-instate Fort Rock. That will get this thread rolling again..... ;D

There is a flavor of truth in the supposition.
Other than one post I have stayed away from making fun of FR. He did in his own perverse way create energy to enliven this thread.
No one likes to be conned. And even worse no one likes being conned by a less than average con.
The hopes of Art returning are still strong here, even with reality giving us little to sustain hope.
In a way I think those of us that still post here are attempting to keep the candle in the window burning. Or at least signal to someone that the mantle is in need of being picked up.
I am annoyed that Art hasn't really addresssed this. And perhaps this is a conceit but I think Art looks at all the sites that bandy his name on a regular basis. I do not see him as the ego-healthy that isn't interested in what his diminishing  audience has to say.

Well said, agree wholeheartedly

I stumbled across this forum and this thread earlier today - on page 34 now and I'm determined to read the whole thing through eventually. it's been an emotional rollercoaster so far, but please, it's 130am here, I neeeeeed to sleeeeep!

I had to register now just to thank you all for being so funny and yet thoughtful. I will chime in with my own conclusions in about 50 pages time...

(so far I'm fairly sure Art is off time-travelling)

Hey Bob, welcome to the asylum.

Save yourself the trouble of the next 50 pages and just dump a saltshaker into your eye instead.

Agreed, Onan, but isn't it likely that Art has been legally muzzled by Premiere for some specified period of time?

If so, he can only let us know that his daughter is growing, and that he's planning to move to Subic Bay where he'll be free to erect the HAM antenna of his dreams and other similar tidbits, which he has indeed done. Other than these personal fillers, though, would it really be in his best interest to open himself up to our inevitable nagging questions about his business agreements and future intentions?

Maybe Art is just being smart and playing the waiting game to his own advantage as any shrewd businessman would do.  Hope springs ... and all that jazz, y'know. :)

See, there is life after death.  We're nearly at page 87 here people.

lol ok, up to page 60 now - I am by no means the most experienced internet communicator out there, but this is CLASSIC stuff, incorporating every web cliche i've ever heard of in one sprawling, oozing stain!

we've had-
the innocent question (what happened to Art?)
information filtering in,
rumours circulating,
rampant speculation,
the 'quiet period',
the 'just when you thought it was all over' moment (x1000)
the well-known 'hitler moment' (can't remember when exactly but it was before page 30)
the lesser-known-but-gaining-in-popularity 'obama moment'
the 'child molester' moment (eeeewwww)
various troll/countertroll unmaskings and general intrigue
...

did I forget anything?

I fking LOVE this site, can I be your friend?

(ignore my sarcastic sig below, I'm serious)

right, back for the last installment, then maybe i can get on with my life :)
