I've been listening carefully for a while now to see if Art's name continues to be mentioned by Noory at the close of C2C.

Although I no longer listen every night, I can say with certainty that Monday night (6/27) Noory closed as usual with "For Dan Galante, .....blah, blah ...... George Knapp, Ian Punnett, and Art Bell, I'm George Noory ... blah blah, be safe." Tuesday night (6/28), there was no "Art Bell" mentioned.

A sign of the end of a contract of some sort? Any connection to Art's promise of "News Coming Soon"?  ???

Art's news has nothing to do with a new show. He is retired. End of story. As much as we all want him to come back, that ship has now sailed.

A few weeks back he posted the following on Fantastic Forum 2:

QuoteHi all,

I live in a very nice Condo here in Taguig (Global City), it is very strict however. I went to the Board of Directors requesting a Beam and Tower on the roof, they said no, so I made a petition for all the Owners/Residents to sign. It has been given to

Art

This doesn't sound like someone who is planning a return to the airwaves. Sounds like a guy who just wants to play with his toys.

In the words of.... oh what's his name.... George No rye...."Indeed" and "Likewise" ( I often wonder if he knows what that means and I now see that many of his guests seem to be thinking the same thing in the way they pause after he says it. Poor guy, no one has taught him the use of the words he uses.) And I'll stick to that until we reach "One thousand dollars gold".

No one can top Art Bell.......however, since Art will no longer host, I say pay George Knapp a HUGE salary and I bet he'd leave his day job.

aldousburbank

Oh please, by page 100 of this thread, can we change the name of this thread to George Noory Quits Coast, then start a new Coast Hires Knapp thread?

Coast to Coast AM is like an amazing car that was sold and then driven into the dirt by its new shitty owner, George Noory.

The car is an ugly mess these days. Who would want to drive around in George Noory's disgusting rancid-smelling bucket?

Health conventions?! UFO PHIL?!

George Knapp might have a little more class than that... and it's too fucking bad, cause he's a lot of other people's "top pick" too...

I wonder if under the right conditions, Art would come out of retirement again. He's always seemed to have loved his work and still enjoyed time with family. If things could be worked out with George N. forced into his own retirement, Art could come back at least part of the time with someone else like George Knapp filling in when Art wanted time off. Anyway, just wishful thinking.

It certainly is wishful thinking.  Art's done.  Art's been done for years.

Hi all!! I have been frequenting these boards since Art Bell left the airwaves and have also since phased out on listening to coast to coast. The only solace I still have are the Art Bell replays on coastgab.  I am sorry to all the George Noory fans out there, but I think he is just terrible and can't listen for a full hour.
With that said, I need to fill the Art Bell void somewhere. I have an iphone and have tried dreamland, but the commercials and some of the people on the show I find to be just irritating.  Is there anything out there that I can get on my Iphone that can help fill the Art Bell void? Any suggestions out there to new shows or hosts would be greatly welcomed!!
Thank you in advance!!

Hi Dark Matter - we are on the same page.  I like listening occasionally but cannot STAND the commercials longer, loonnggeerr,  looooong...you get the idea.  So I check here for shows I want to hear and also archives of old shows.  This replaces streamlink.  You need to download a free rar unpacker like "Tomato" but then you are SET.  This site downloads to wherever you say on your hard drive and it identifies every hour.  It's lovely and uncluttered by ads.  Like a drink of water when you've been forced to have only soft drinks for days.

Now as far as replacing the Coast hosts, everybody has their own tastes.  I listen to progressive radio in the mornings while working around the house, and then in the evenings I listen to audio books on Librivox for free while I sort through my lifetime's accumulation from the storage cube.  All of you who thought I was a world traveler posting from exotic locations, sorry 'bout that....

I'm sure others will give you links to up and coming hosts, which are aplenty.  Welcome here and thanks for posting.

We know b_dubb--he's kidding Jethro, he's kidding.  He doesn't even have to add the sarcasm warning.

Speaking of pointers, briefly there I was a "friend" of Airyn Bells on her Facebook.  I wanted to see pictures of little Asia.  And I did see some wonderful ones, which she posts regularly for family and friends.  But among her friends was a picture of a guy who looked like Santa Claus with a wife who's little head came up to just below his boob (if he'd been a woman, that is).  I did a double take and thought--"Jesus, she looks 12 years old!"  Under the photo was congratulations on their 7th wedding anniversary!   tltlltlttltltlmmmm!!! (Twilight Zone crazy sudden surprise sound combined with bobbing close-up, in/out/in/out)

That did it-- I unfriended myself and checked out of that scene.  Come to find out that the shortage of women in the Asian and Baltic countries due to gender selection abortion is producing a new business niche in the selling of women/child brides.  This is the hidden story under the story.  When a rich American man gets sick of games people play in relationships, he can check out by becoming an expat with a child bride in a foreign country.  When a rich American woman feels the same, she forms a book discussion group with her girlfriends and they start traveling together, exploring restaurants, having fun.

Who would you rather hang out with?  A sex object with an adolescent body who doesn't understand your culture OR generation?  Clearly, a large number of men answer yes.

On the cynical side, the attention from crusty old geriatric Anglosphere nerds will end up increasing the value of daughters in broke Asian countries, helping to restore fetal gender parity.

Men who get mail order Asian brides are buying a live-in prostitute, let's be honest.  Even a man of average U.S. income is a king compared to a man in a third world country.  Do these guys really believe the girl likes them, much less loves them?

They should tell themselves: "If I can enjoy a prostitute, I can enjoy my "bride."  Both of them are compliant, offer feigned delight at my alleged sexual prowess, and are happy as long as I pay."  Unlike these "brides", prostitutes are honest; they never (I assume) fake love and genuine caring and affection.

These men are self-deluded and fortunately soon wake-up.  I know of a couple of men who married simple Asian women only to rue to the day.  The women soon found out that U.S. women don't have to figuratively walk behind their man and they take on U.S. ways, i.e. wanting reciprocation in a relationship.  These guys find everyday give-and-take a bitch, that's why they got an Asian bride in the first place.  And what do you know, soon the bride is acting like an American.

Of the two men I know, one got divorced, of course after she had kids to ensure child support, the other has a miserable life with a neurotic woman who refuses to work, claiming that even a minimum wage job is too stressful.

If any of you guys reading this still dream of having a compliant mail-order bride, come to your senses.  Get a prostitute, she'll take your money for just one night, and you can go your way.  These "brides" will eventually take you for 1/2 of your net worth, or if you're older, wait hopefully for your demise.   Buyer beware !

And no, I never lost out to a man who went the mail-order route.

Valid points Tara.
I would never think of  trading my wife and mother-in-law for one of those young, obedient Asian "hotties".

Nothing against mail order Asian brides, but the wife and I prefer our mail order borg drone, who you can switch off at the first sign of contentious or other unpleasant behavior.

I'm looking foward to Art's return...and subsequent sudden departure.

b_dubb

hey did you guys hear that Art Bell quit Coast?

coastingtocoastingam with george fucking snoory

I was listening to the lastest Classic Art Bell show on Streamlink. Near the end of the show when Art was taking calls, he was posed an International call from a female listener. However, the caller was instead Oscar, the Son of Satan. Art immediately cut him off and seemed pissed off at the call screeners as if they had played a prank on him.

Could this be one of the reasons for Art's total retirement...I.E. Noory and company engaging Art in psychological warfare in an attempt to running him off the show forever, forfeiting power to the dictatorial Noory?

The Coast website now pays absolute zero homage to Art Bell. One has to scroll all the way down to the page bottom to even find the "Somewhere in Time" hyperlink. Cut and Clear Bell discrimination. I am seriously beginning to entertain the idea that all of this ^ be given a little more serious contemplating. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

I am probably the most cynical person you will ever meet when talking about business management.

When management learns an employee is seriously thinking of leaving. Mgmt starts retooling. They know that no matter how talented, personable, entertaining a person is, they as management cannot always count on the prize racehorse. Premrad owns the racetrack (pardon my metaphor), so they have little care as to the pedigree of the horse. They are well aware that people bet on whatever is in the pit.

Giving any money to the c2c people is not going to produce any results we as a group would find pleasing.

The minute they realized Art Bell was not their step and fetch they probably started planning on ways to marginalize him. Hell management probably hedged their bet on whatever direction Bell would go in.
