Ana: Art's posts all seem to be made from an iPad or iPhone. Being an iPod touch user, which has an identical interface, those things are a BITCH to type on and it's very easy to have random characters, u/l case, etc. That'd be my guess.

The plot thickens.

Which Art Bell FB page was that? Could someone post a link?  There are three and two are using the same photo.....the one I thought was "real" isn't posting antenna stuff that I can see.

This is the one I'm most convinced is real - if any are.

No link showed up on my black background (almost said skin but don't want to lance another race boil).

Could you email it to me?  Thanks much Ev-- :)  Also, do you have a notification system for when you and MV will be live on Trainwreck?

Tks

I didn't know what the heck it was when I first heard about it. I assumed that it was the grossest party drink known to man.

Yeah Pizza Punch was a collection of spices. If I remember it right, Art and Ramona were traveling somewhere when they came upon this great seasoning for pizza. I think Art had someone experiment with different spices until they felt they got it just right and then he started to market it as Art Bell's Pizza Punch.

Art raved about how good it was. I think they had problems with on time delivery though. I remember people complaining about not receiving the stuff.

this is from the now defunct "www.artbellspizzapunch.com":

The Pizza Punch Story

A long time ago…Ramona and I were off on an adventure in the outskirts of Paris, enjoying each other, along with all of the sights, sounds and cuisine of the local eateries. Having been blessed with the “gift” of gab, we began talking with the chef of the a local bisto. We shared stories from both near and far.

When the chef presented us with our special meal of his choosing, he brought with him a small jar of what he called “PIZZA PUNCH”…he explained to us that it was his own special blend of oils and spices, which he had developed, as he put it, “to add a little zip”. His suggestion was to splash it on our pizza. From the first bite, we were hooked. As we continued to eat, we could not get over the amazing flavor that the Pizza Punch brought with each bite. We cheated and tried adding it to different items, breads, salads, vegetables…..it was amazing.

The next day I went back to the cafe and spoke with the chef, told him just how much we had enjoyed the evening and especially the Pizza Punch….being the true romantic and adventurer I boldly asked if it were possible for me to purchase the recipe as a gift for Ramona. She had told me during dinner how she would love to be able to give “Jars of Pizza Punch” to our friends as gifts….. After coming to an agreement, we were both comfortable with I left with the recipe.

Ramona was so pleased. She said she could not wait to get home and make a batch, and give it to friends….not to mention always having some left over for our own personal use. This was a giving gift made with love and given to our friends to share our happiness and memories.

As many of you know, I lost Ramona in January. She lost a long-fought battle to Asthma. For years I have been sharing this story of Pizza Punch with you my listeners. Two gentlemen who suggested that we take Pizza Punch public and allow all of you the opportunity to share in our delightful find approached me. We will be contributing a percentage of every sale to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, in Ramona’s name.

Our hope is not only for you to enjoy the great flavor, but also to give a helping hand to the researchers, who can help so many with this terrible disease.

Please enjoy and let us know your comments…you can reach us at ARTBELLSPIZZAPUNCH.com

Good Eating……

So basically, leave dried chili peppers in olive oil for 2 months then spritz it on pizza. lol.

MikeD

What?lol That's basically how you make spicey olive oil. It is supposed to be big in France though, like you said.

My sources in Arkham Asylum let slip during a routine waterboarding demonstration for charity that they had a collective lucid dream suggesting that sometime this very century an angel in a spaceship could possibly start a website, proclaiming verily that Art Bell might someday possibly reveal plans to make a statement regarding potential further announcements in the future.

I'll settle for page 101, that's symbolic enough for me.

Nice analogy, Bob.  Made me laugh.  Yes, we really are hanging by a collective thread here, aren't we?  ::)

Re: Art Bell Quits Coast

I don't blame him.  I quit Coast in 2001.

MikeD

So I know we like to keep page counts rising, so I'll just ask here. What was Mike Siegel's Coast like? Is Noory better?

Also, are there any bootlegs of the Mike Jarmus show out there? I've only heard the ones with Bielek but it was sorta cool.

SheilaVG

I see what you mean about the delivery but I got the feeling it wasn't just that he was retiring again. He seemed to be not saying something he was unhappy about. If it had been totally his decision to go, and especially if it were for happy reasons like retiring to be with his new family, he'd have mentioned it. Probably bragged about his beautiful little family. No, something went wrong. Terribly wrong. I think something happened between he and George. The other day a guest mentioned Art and the problems he has had in the past with rumors and George had an amost violent reaction and said something like, "It's a new day, let's not go there." He either forced Art out or made it so difficult for Art, Art gave up. OR, Art saw what George was doing, is doing, to the show, and decided now was a good time to go. Even if that were the case though, I still think it's a little fishy he had no final goodbye or good words. George through him under the bus in some way.

Hi All,

Been a while since I have visited the site, good to see a lot of new users/posts!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think Art is done with Coast to Coast.  I am a streamlink (now called Coast Insider), but haven't listened to George in years now - I pay to hear Ian, George K.  and, when we are lucky, Art.  It also give access to a good amount of old Art shows.  Anyhow, I was listening to Art's Ghost to Ghost 2010 last night, which I believe is the last show he has done on Coast.  Here's the thing - I think it is his show ever!  There was something about his delivery that made me think he was a bit different, and it reminded me of previous retirement shows.  Early in the show he made a very pointed reference to his new HAM call letters, and just generally seemed a little different - not off his game or anything, just different.

So, and I apologise for the rambling post (I am having my first coffee of the morning after overdoing it with mood altering substances last night), I just got this vibe from the show that something is different with Art.  Then I thought about recent posts here (or maybe at GLP), saying that Art won't be doing his predicitions show this year.  I mentioned before that I don't listen to Noory, so can't confirm or deny these posts, but apparently George was asked by a caller recently if Art would be doing the shows, and George said no, Art would be travelling.  Something about the posts also twigged soemthing in the back of my mind, but again, I didn't hear the show in question.

So, last nght, listening to the great Art Bell doing Ghost to Ghost, and I decide to see what recent Classic Shows have been posted.  Go to the C to C website, select the drop down menu in the show archive, and as I am about to select "Classic Shows"  i notice the "Hosts" section of the same drop down.  It list George, Ian, George K and.......that's it.  No Art.  Art has always been listed here.  Now he isn't.

Not doing the predicition show, not listed a as a host in the archives, and the suspicions of a (admittedly quite wasted) long time listener... could it be over?

Also, anyone notice just how many Friday's Ian has been doing ( I quite like Ian, think he is light years better than George, so glad to have him on more often)?  It is reminiscent of when George started taking over more of Art's slots.  Are we seeing another slow changing of the guard?

anagrammy

SheilaVG - you have an excellent point there.  Reminded me that initially, Art was removed completely from the hosts list.  That seems like an emotional, vengeful act in keeping with the scenario you suggest.  LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!  Here's one...

George was given creative control of the show and wanted Art to operate under the same structure he does, i.e., he would dictate the structure.  Since he can't handle unscreened callers, he didn't want Art to do it and show him up.  He also wanted control over what guests Art would get (to make sure there were no unfavorable comparisons in hosting talent).  Naturally, Art balked and George gave him an ultimatum.

Art does not like to be threatened.  Remember the guy who threatened to "show up" at Art's booksigning in New York?  Art ripped him a new one on the air, telling him the exact address where he could kneel and kiss his ass-shaped ring.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall when George Putz Noory tried to threaten the articulate and unflinching Art Bell!

In regards to the "Ghost to Ghost" show last year, there's one point that has been overlooked. At the end of the night, Art said "When they next call my name, I'll come back and we'll do this one more time". I presume the "one more time" would have been the prediction show (which evidently they did reach out to him to do, and he declined). So I don't think, as of then, it was intended to be his last show, but his NEXT TO LAST show, and something happened subsequently to change that--whether the above speculations are valid, who knows? But SOMETHING changed, and has kept him off the Coast airwaves since then (though of course Lisa Lyons has said Art is "welcome back to the mic" whenever he has something to say).

Regardless, even if that show wasn't intended to be the LAST Art-hosted C2C, it was clearly in his mind ONE of the last, a fact that--the better part of a year later--has become more and more obvious.

BTW I haven't listened lately--does George still mention Art's name at the end of the show every night?

Yes, for the time being, George still references Art.

Though I really hope there's a day they don't...that would be a great sign.

Did she say that? In those words? Art Bell has more to say with his anus in peristalsis than noory does on his most articulate day.

Laughing out loud----yeah, no joke, onan.  I was listening the other night while making candied ginger.  It was a UFO show and it just came to me again how Art added content and flavor, really spiced up, a routine sighting/experiencer interview.

In this one Art is talking to SETI somebody about the ever-hopeful sending of signals off into space.  Between the hours, Art says something like,

Imagine the aliens talking about Earth.  They've heard the signal and they zip on over here to see what's happening.  They've known about us, but never paid much attention because we are just meat.  The aliens report back that

"The meat on planet Earth has developed enough technology to be killing each other and wrecking the planet."  Those who receive the report don't believe it at first, they say,

"Meat? Developing technology?  Ridiculous!  They would have to communicate and everyone knows they have no antennae."

" Well, they're pretty clever.  They flap their meat to communicate."  This absolutely astounds the alien community and no one believes it because there's no proof.

"Bring us hard evidence" say the aliens...

THIS WAS THE SETUP for the rest of the interview!  By the master.  Compare with a George Noory exclusive, previously mocked herein, but worthy of repetition,

"Here, then, is..."

Both were bad in different ways.
Siegel was obviously ignorant and uninterested in the paranormal topics and was just a mainstream radio show host like for politics, which is what he is doing nowadays on daytime radio shows. Siegel made obvious phony attempts to copy Art Bell in some ways like talking about a cat named Vanna (not sure if it was really his pet) to rope in the cat lovers since Art had a bunch of cats he would talk about often.

There was a particulary bad interview Siegel did with astronaut Gordon Cooper, where Siegel would keep yelling at Cooper, calling him "astronaut" rather than his name.
No wonder he didn't even last a year, the ratings nose dived and the network fired him and switched to replays of old shows even before Art Bell returned a few months later.

morphiaflow

@Onan yes, she said it in an email to me which I posted as my first entry in this forum and I quoted in the wikipedia "events of 2011" article on Art Bell. I had written a strongly worded rebuke of the Noory-driven show and she sent a response that was half apology, half attack. But she did say that Art had "chosen to retire". So, there you go.
