Should I stop feeding one of my children to listen to Art?

This is America , surely one of them is 14 bucks a month too fat ?

Yes, as this is America, myself and my seven 300-pound children are lounging around the double-wide, eating moon pies, drinking RC cola, and watching Jerry Springer.

Over on the ArtBell.com facebook page, someone came right out and asked:

What's going on with the weekends TBA? Are you getting a weekend host? May I suggest George Knapp?

I've heard that Chantix + epileptics = NO! Besides, I don't have any type of insurance. I can't afford to take anticonvulsants anymore, let alone Chantix.

I will have to look into this and see how safe they are for me to take. Thanks for the info, though -- my anxiety is through the roof (which is probably why I smoke so much in the first place), so I really appreciate it.

Eh, I'm using the Art Bell thing as a sort of goal. Like, I can't tune into the new show unless I quit smoking by then.

Is that UFO Phil splayed out on the front lawn?

i'm three weeks without a real cigarette. i use e-cigs and popsicles now.

Oh my God really... Late night snacks? Just another example of how Coast to Coast has become a parody of Itself and a complete joke.

What kind of idiot would buy such a book?  Someone who is  morbidly obese and is too stupid to know better.

Or someone who is in desperate need of either toilet paper, or Kindling.

I cordially invite you to choose one of your orifices and shove something in it repeatedly. I'm not one to air my problems on a public forum such as this, but I don't need you telling me that I'm failing at life. I see enough evidence of that on a daily basis.

I've never said one bad thing about Art's choice. I understand his reasons, and have done nothing but wish him well. I stated I don't have the money to buy a subscription to Sirius, then moved on. Since you seem to think I'm doing something wrong, maybe I should relinquish control over my life to you to make the difficult choices I am apparently unable to.

Should I stop feeding one of my children to listen to Art? Or maybe stop feeding myself? Man cannot live on bread alone, but the rich voice emanating from the desert will certainly sustain me.

How about eliminating a prescription? Art can be a soothing balm to my maladies, and I would no longer need modern medicine to sustain me.

Do I need power and water for my home, or is Art Bell a shining beacon that will cleanse my soul?

I could eliminate the internet, but then I would not have your unique wisdom to guide me through these troubling times.

Suffice it to say, I do what I can for my family in the position that I'm in. If that means I can't listen to Art, I'll deal with it. I'll congratulate you for apparently winning at your life, but fuck you for thinking you know how to live mine.

Maybe you are the exception to the rule, but I am also thinking people have been complaining about the $15 without actually doing their homework, picking up the phone and calling sirius xm to inquire.  I dont think anyone is telling you to not feed a child, or to not take your meds...  the point was that sometimes people do not realize that it may actually be more affordable then they think.  I have seen countless people say they are on a fixed income etc, well I am too, my paycheck!  I have also clicked on some of these people's facebook profiles and there they stand with a cigarette in hand, or a cup of Starbucks etc...  Folks on SS, or fixed income or disability cannot tell me they NEVER leave the house and NEVER spend any money aside from Food, Shelter and clothing etc...  Doesn't add up...

From the artbell.com Facebook page for those without a FB account:

Please use the link on the website to subscribe to the SiriusXM Internet Radio player. I get a few bucks to help the website. http://siriusxm.com/artbelloffer

You would think Art would throw some Sirius dollars Keith's way. :)

Hahaha. None of the above, at least with Art. he actually initiated the contact, about two years ago, shortly after he put his FB up for the first time. He mistakenly thought I was responsible for the posting of a private photo that a friend of his had leaked to a fan group. We cleared that up and exchanged a few emails wherein, basically, I verified that it was really him, it was really his Facebook, etc, etc. I also dropped him a warning about the stalkerish nature of a certain Scorpion general, which he acknowledged.

If you go back far enough on this thread, you'll find all of that stuff.
Just remember, The Scorpion General was right all along. He was the only one who said Art would be back. We all wanted Art back. We begged and cried for Art to come back. FORT ROCK was the only one who SAID Art was coming back. Day after day. Week after week. He was wrong on the time frame several times. But he kept the faith. Despite the fact that we all ran him down. He never wavered. The rest of us were Simon Peter.

I can afford it, but I won't pay for it. One of the reasons my cable bill is so high is because the package includes 30 or so sirius xm channels I will never listen to. I refuse to pay even more money to sirius just so I can listen to one show. I doubt finding a free way to listen to Art will put a dent in his wallet. And to the people telling others that they should be able to pay for it, if they only changed the way they spend money, should really consider shutting the hell up. Who are you to give complete strangers financial advice?

I could throw fecal matter at the wall all day long and eventually one of the turds will stick.

Those words of wisdom apply to the Scorpion General and as luck would have it they also apply to some C2CAM guests too most notably Dames and other psychic$. That doesn't make them seers. It just makes them lucky bull shitters.

I just heard that Mercedes is offering a great deal:

Purchase any pre-owned, certified Mercedes, and they will kick in a 3 year subscription to XM/Sirius

How much a day does that work out to to listen to Art?

Maybe then you have the channel already? Check for INDIE, channel 104.

Hey,  look at the bright side; you get 3 years of Art, paid for, AND  a nice vehicle.

I sent Ian Punnett a tweet asking him his thoughts on Art's return and if Ian would be listening to Art's new show and his responce was ....
" I'm a longtime subscriber to XM/Sirius. I wish Art Bell success and I commend his decision to not go head-to-head with George Noory."

So, I don't know anything about Sirius or satellite radio programming.  It is going to cost $14.50 a month and that is the cheapest way to get Art's new show?  I don't want 300 sports channels, or other programming like that.  I know you can't with cable TV, but I thought with Sirius you could do a-la-carte ordering to pick some shows and it would be less expensive than $14.50??  I also think I would only want it at home as I don't drive much - is this doable and less expensive than vehicle service??  I have an internet radio, and I think it can handle Sirius but I don't know how that works - any advice?  Thanks much in advance for a total satellite newb.
The alacarte option is cheaper at $8/month but doesn't support internet access, only with a standalone satellite radio like in the car.
The regular price for the USA internet only package for Sirius/XM is $14.49/month ($13.30/month if you pay for a year in advance) but in Canada is cheaper at under $8/month for the internet only package.
However info on the net indicates if you call to ask to cancel just prior to your expiration date they will offer much cheaper deals for 6month or a year, like under $6/month. But you will have to keep doing that every time you want to renew or it will automatically charge the full high price per month after that.

I've checked, I don't have it. It's more themed channels like the 60's and 70's, latin, and other random nonsense. I also have a channel only Dave would like- 24 hours of Elvis.  I'm going to contact Dish to see if they would let me get rid of the garbage channels for indie. I doubt they will, but it's worth a shot.

I don't want to take sides but Art would kill Noory in the ratings

Last night we spent probably half of the show discussing Art's return to radio on our technology podcast, The Spec Sheet with Curtis Thornton.  I normally wouldn't shill my own stuff here, but many of you will be interested in hearing the discussion we had.  It's available here.

Just the excuse I've been looking for to pick-up that fine SL550.  I can't wait to see the look on the salesman's face when I tell him why I'm interested in that set of fine wheels.  I'll ask him if it has a "Dave-blocker" option, as well.   ;)

So this totally supports what I've been saying about Knapp's days on the Mothership being number. So either (a) he's not worried (b) he's already been let go (c) he's been warned and this is his shot across the bow or (d) he hasn't been warned or let go and this is his shot across the bow. either way, I won't be surprised if "Dark Matter" has an occasional Sunday hosted by a certain Las Vegas journalist, and who better?

Knapp is the man. Probably too dry for 5 days a week, but he has a pro gravitas to him. Hard-nosed, thorough, no right/left political bullshit. When he does take a subject to heart (i.e., his wild horse activism), he has a way of not turning off the right-wing mouth breathers by not acting like a left-wing lunatron.

I remember, over a year ago, Knapp was interviewing Nick Redfern (sp?). Knapp is taking calls, and this guy calls in, sounds semi-baked and starts off his question with a word play on Nick's last name, "red" and "fern". Completely harmless, but Knapp gave a mocking laugh and said in effect you're not funny, do you have a serious question or do you want dumped from the line?

Quick and decisive smackdown and the caller straightened up quickly. It was classic and Knapp went even higher on the respect-o-meter.

Dave? And his fans? They were probably appalled at Knapp's display of old-school discipline.

An interesting book.  Dave should read it.  Too bad he gave up reading books for 3x5's.

Knapp & Bell have a mutual respect for one another. Something that the Noaree funhouse will never have for anybody.
