The chase appeared on a Movie soundtrack in the 1970's I think. It's a normal piece of music that is readily available to the public. I made 5 CD's of Art Bell bumper music many years back and that song is on there.

Art could definitely use it if he wanted. Question is... would he dare? I think we'll be hearing different intro music. The chase is so affiliated with c2c. If he does use "The Chase", we'll know that "IT'S ON" and Art is here to Take c2c down!

It's Giorgio Moroder's song and originally appeared in 1978's Midnight Express. Any proprietary claims go to their respective organizations. Premiere has no say.

Either they keep broadcasting it as a fuck you to Art

This would be my guess.  At this point, they can't afford to lose what Art they have left and I think they know it.  Plus, they're going to take any chance they get to give Art the finger.  Because that's how those a-holes roll.

Well, with his dropping Art's name and his feeble snipe about being "the one and only", Dave has already proven how butthurt he and by extension, Coast itself and PRN, are by Art's refusal to 'wind down', 'stay retired' and 'spend time with his family'. So does anyone here doubt even a little bit that behind the scenes they will engage in intimidation games with guests and other underhanded, unethical and disreputable practices?

I know Art's been teasing "the real story" for a while now, but whether we ever really get HIS real story, I have no doubt the before much time passes, probably well before September 16, things will start to leak out, and we will start to hear stories confirming just how pissed/scared they REALLY are that he would dare to exercise his non-compete and start broadcasting again.

Also, I've said often and loudly round these parts that Knapp's days are numbered. I would now put money on that, especially given his publicly congratulating Art. If he hasn't already gotten a stern talking-to from TPTB at Premiere, I'm certain he will soon.

Be a shame if Coast lost the one good host they have left...on the other hand, I'm sure Mr. Knapp could pick up an occasional hosting job somewhere else...

The only real question for me, as others have brought up, is how quickly Somewhere in Time will be discontinued. Either they keep broadcasting it as a fuck you to Art, though maybe picking less than stellar shows, or else they do it in a "Old Art is better than New Art" way, though that would undercut the narrative they're trying to paint of Art being insignificant. Either way, they lose--especially, hopefully, 40 Limbaugh affiliates.

I see no reason why PremRat would be overly concerned about Art`s return. In fact, they may welcome it, considering his show doesn`t actually compete with C2C, but rather serves as a nice little lead in. Sure, they`ll lose a few listeners, but I suspect they will gain an equal - if not more - number of  new listeners to C2C.

With regard to Art telling the "true story", or what-have-you, I`m not so sure that`s something he`ll choose to do. As a radio professional with a legacy as stellar as Art`s, when you start pissing and moaning about contracts and management, you run the risk of  sounding like sour grapes. People just want a good show. Period.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. It's not polite to get people's names wrong.
Dave's name is Dave Noorie

;D

Yah...don't mess with Dave.  ;D

But the other side of that is that every time they air it, they are basically giving Art free advertising.

I understand and largely agree with you. In fact, I doubt that Premiere itself or Clear Channel are overly concerned, though I won't retract that part of my speculation, because--you never know.

BUT. I will absolutely maintain that Dave Noorie is *personally* butthurt--and nervous, at the very least, if not scared.

And I stand by my statement that there will be some ugly stuff behind the scenes.

Oh, no question about it;  sNoorie is definitely doubling up on the turmeric. Absolutely no love lost between the two parties.

I anticipate Art addressing the situation early on. He`ll have some stinging criticism, and then let it go. Probably ask callers not to waste any more time on it.

I think Art will take the high road.  He's already indicated that to come back out of anger with what they've done with his baby would have been the wrong thing to do.  I think he'll simply come back and put on the kind of show we know he's capable of and, in the process, wipe the floor with PremRat.

If he had a non-compete, it is almost assuredly long-since expired.

As the story goes... A member of this forum made a phone call to a radio station to see if they were able to gather information on Art Bell (before we knew about the XM radio deal) and before the call was over it was revealed that the worker knew so little about George Noory that they referred to him as "Dave Noory" instead. So even the people in the radio biz see him has next to nothing, whereas, most know about Art's legacy.
The name Dave Noory was coined as a mockery to George and so the fun began. Hope that helps.

I've been gone for a while and wondered about the DAVE Noory business as well.  Thanks for the clarification.  Too funny!   ;D

Butthurt, maybe/probably. Nervous, scared? For normal, intelligent people, hell yeah. For Dave? I have to really wonder... I don't think so.

We make fun of George so much that we (or at least I) get lulled into this sense of 'gee, we're really piling on the guy, he's not THAT stupid.' But in George's case he really is NOT that bright of a guy. Someone described it 20 pages back perfectly -- he's like some hillbilly that fell ass backwards into a dream radio gig that no other lifelong DJ could dream of landing.

He's like most American idiots where he doesn't have the wet-ware to assess his own deficiencies. When he was on his 'I might run for President' kick I would mouth silently at the ceiling 'you've got to be fucking kidding me.' When the numbers lady would come on and tell him his 7/5 meant he was a seeker of spiritual truth and destined to communicate it to the people, he ran with it.

I could be completely misreading this, but I don't think Dave has the personal critical assessment tools necessary to be scared of Art's return.

Nebraska888

Noory SHOULD be concerned.........maybe this news about Art will be the impetus for Noory to START DOING HIS HOMEWORK AND PREPARE FOR GUESTS WITH SMART AND INSIGHTFUL QUESTIONS!     :o

Whitley blows. His pace/rhythm/diction tanks any sense of energy the show may have. This is based on hearing him host, live, twice. Since then he's ramped up his internet radio thing, so who knows.
I like Whit as a guest, writer etc, but in no way want to see him as a host.

My feelings exactly.

I think we have to agree to disagree. I think he believes he can hold his own with anyone (mistakenly equating his years on the show, the number of affiliates, and his long term contract with quality and ability), and his hubris is not hiding "aw, shucks"--it's hiding someone who is cold and calculating. We agree he's not very smart, but I think he's smart enough to be in on the persona he's crafted for himself as the affable everyman. But beneath THAT, I think is a sniveling coward, who is now flinching and smarting before any blow is even struck. Look how little time it took for him to react, albeit passive-aggressively, to Art's impending return. This is just the beginning, folks. I predict we will see (or hear) his gradual breakdown, before our very eyes.

And once I might have have felt bad for "piling on" to someone who seems nice. I no longer feel that way. At all. I don't think he's a "nice guy, bad host". I don't think he's nice at all.

AND he's a bad host.

They're probably hoping to keep the people who don't want to pay for radio, tho.  If you're willing to pay, you're willing to pay, and I know I won't be listening to C2C any longer once Art returns.  I'll reschedule my radio time if I want to listen live, or listen to the repeat.  I think it's two-fold. . .hoping to keep some listeners and, like you said, a big F-you to Art and his new show.

I also don't think C2C is worried about Art returning--in fact it's my guess they had a clue what Art had coming AND then they signed Noory for a decade to keep a steady established(though uninspired) hand on the rudder to keep the show safe.

Haha, I loved when they said that, because it just shows how mellow and un-edgy Jorch is. He's going unnoticed. He really is an infomercial.

Keith, if you're seeing this, you will probably want to look into making Art's Twitter account "verified", as they do for high profile persons.
And yes, when I'm ready for my subscription (going to wait till a few days before launch) I'll use your link!
Keep up the great work sir.

I 2nd this! Usuaully followership goes up once an account is verified as well.

Looks like Art has  an official pintrest now too. Hm, I best sign up.
