I guess I will have to make a trip to Best Buy on saturday morning before I do any thing rash. Did they have home units or just for cars?

They had both. The unit for home listening was like $170... way too steep and kind of big quite frankly.

I was quoting the prices of the car units. In addition, they had a home adaptor kit for about $70 which will allow you to connect your car unit to a home stereo.

For home listening, I'll probably stream audio on my computer through an FM transmitter to the next room.

Depends on the reciever you get. I had an xm to go and it had 5 hours of record time. And I got a new reciever last year which has hundreds of hours. Just depends on what you want to pay. Lots of older models on ebay that can be hand for very little.

I dont know how to stream audio from my computer. I do have a wireless router and a CCrane wifi radio. So it could work. I just dont know how. Got lots of fm radios though. Also have a Roku running through the router.

Have you ever listened to a radio station online through tunein.com?  That is "streaming audio through your computer."  It's really easy to do.  You just go to their website, put the radio station you want to listen to in their search engine, and when it comes up click on the "play" button, and then the audio stream of that radio station will come through your computer's speakers.

Dunno about his statement on "very few...commercials". I listen to Sirius talk channels while driving and the commercials breaks are long, not infrequent, and often obnoxious. I hope he had better advice this time than when he naively signed his show away to Clear Channel for a pittance.  Some would call this  pimping the fan base.

The commercials vary on a per show basis. Art has been really adamant on not having too many commercials over the past years, and has really tore into C2C over the past several years because they had way too many. He had said he chose to have few commercials rather than large amounts of ad revenue, and that seemed pretty clear when it was still his show. The increased commercial time during his guest hosting days was one of the issues he was having. If Art ends up doing only a few minutes of commercials per hour, like he is saying, his three hour show would have more 'show time' than a five hour C2C show.

Art has been pretty up front about what he needed his show to be, so I personally believe him when he says this stuff. The little to no commercials is something I Am sure has already been worked out well in advance. Sirius has always worked really hard to get top tier talent and give them what they need and want for their shows, and I'm sure that if this is an exception to that rule at all, it was that Art is getting more freedom than some others.

If he ends up using artbell.com for an add on to his show, which I would imagine he will be doing, he can put very few ads on that page yet take 100% of the revenue.

Sirius is really the perfect venue for Art.

VG, you said a while back that you were having sound quality issues with Sirius. Do you have any idea why? Is it your hardware or location? I've never once had any sort of issue with my hardware in the past, however I didn't buy the bottom tier stuff either. How long have you had the equipment you are using?

Has anyone here ever purchased an actual XM radio? If so, are you happy with it? Is the sound quality decent?

Got my XM to Go about 8 years ago. I can not imagine not having it. I LOVE it. I honestly would rather be without my cell than my xm. Has 5 hours record time and the limitless amount of stations to pick from when out and about as well as anything you recorded.

I downloaded the iphone XM Sirius app and called to get a one year subscription . For the year it works out to just over 8 bucks a month .

Now please confirm someone , the show will be available in Canada correct ? I ask because I noticed a few pages back that someone said the show isn't international , can't be ?

Someone posted that Art has been assured that his show will cover basically all of North America, so yeah.

Ok guys,  foe all us non us listeners,I'm happy to pay the monthly costs. Not a problem. However, obviously I can't stay up till 4am to listen to the show. I'm in the UK. Is there a podcast option? Is that included in the Internet only package? Please help

Apparently you can use a proxy server to fool the geo-location but you would still need a US credit card and address to sign up.

I live in Canada and used my Canadian CC and had no issues at all . Unless I misunderstood you , can you please explain ?

As for the Podcast and on to late , as mentioned with the iphon app version it seems that they offer an " on demand " version of a great many shows . From that list of shows you can download and listin to the show later . I would assume that there is a time limit to how long the show will be stored but I would guess that a suitable amount of time is givin to listin to your download .

The graphic on the front page of SiriusXM promoting Art's new show has the green "On Demand" button on it.  This means shows will be available after the broadcast window.  On Demand programs are typically accessible up to a week after their original air date.   

Additionally if you have an app for a mobile device (iPad, iPhone, etc.) you can download the episodes and listen to them when you are off-line.  So you could download while connected to Wi-Fi at home and take your phone with you in the car to listen and not use up precious data plan minutes.

These On Demand shows will automatically purge from the device after they go past the "expiration date", which again is around a week.

This feature is very flexible and is SiriusXM's version of podcasting.

Only drawback is archiving the shows since they are "locked" within the application.   But there are ways to work around that.

As far as using the app abroad.  I have used it while traveling outside the U.S.  But I'm not sure you can subscribe from outside the U.S.

That IS great news!  It makes me wonder if the subscription for a year for the Kindle Fire app would be the same.  If so, my fears of having to pay $12.50 a month to listen to the show are all for naught.

I just got off the phone with a rep from Sirius. He said they have a home radio unit for $19.99 with antenna but you provide the speakers. I called this number 1-866-409-9296. As mentioned , their is Canadian content added to my package which is no doubt regulated to include CC . If your countries regulating body doesn't have an agreement with SXM than that could be the whole of the international issue

Long time lurker, first time poster. Well, hell has indeed froze over. Art is coming back. Like most of you, I wish it wasn't on satellite. It's not so much about the cost, (I was a Coast Insider.) but I normally listen on the go. For that, mp3s are so much more convenient.   
I'm sure something will turn up, I just wish, there were more options. September 16th can't get here soon enough.

XM really depends on who you speak with. Don't like the deal they offer, call back up and speak to someone again. They will likely offer you something else.
