Keith sounds like a great down to earth guy like Art. That is why they have such devotion.

I'd just like to say you're underestimating the amount of "younger" new listeners.  I, for one, never listened to him while he was on air, but I discovered him through archived shows, youtube, etc.  I'd hope there are plenty of us out there who are excited about getting to hear him live.

Senconded.

This is what I was saying about my wife. She has complained to me at least 4 or 5 ties a week for 10 months now about how so and so happened on C2C, and she wanted to call in so bad but its an old show. She's very excited about being able to hear him live and call in.

That was apparently not it  :-\ Any other ideas? I deplore calling them...

Adblockers and popupblockers disabled? If you have a firewall problem, you can add the site to the accepted list, too. I had a running problem similar to this with McAfee until I dumped it.

Try this...

Go to the Control Panel, then Flash Player then Storage Tab, select:  "Allow sites to save information on this computer".

Just called Sirius and they offered me a $100 radio for $19.99, plus they said I could do the 6 months of service for $25, which is a total of $45 for the radio and 6 months of service.  Going to try back a little later and see if I can get a better deal, but if not, I'm happy with that.

Hadden, that did it  :D Thank you. For precaution's sake, what have I now risked by doing this? And Unscreened Caller, I had NOT done all that, thanks for reminding me of the simple thing I should have done first.

Does that include the internet radio subscription or are you going to have to pay extra for that? (If you wanted it).

I was just thinking about that. I didn't ask, but even if I do have to add it on, it's only an extra $2 a month. At the end of the day, I would rather get actual radios in my cars and house as well as the net, but I'm trying to start out as cheap as possible.

Local storage will not present any risk as long as you keep Flash Player updated and always have virus, spyware and firewall protection running.

Scanning thru the support q&a section on the Sirius/XM website I found this page:
https://listenercare.siriusxm.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3676

Has more details on different packages and prices plus yearly price vs monthly price.
The Sirius/XM internet only package price is $14.49 plus fees (somebody reported it comes out to a total of $15.38 with the fees I think)
but if you pay for a year at a time the total is $159.39 which is $13.28/month - so that appears to be the cheapest option with internet playback, the easiest since you could listen via any computer or internet device you already own (not have to buy a special radio with antenna)

Thanks for looking this up.  I'm going to pay the $159.39 so I get the cheapest monthly cost for the internet only package.  I was hoping for $12.50 a month, but $13.28 a month is still completely do-able just so long as I apply my Famous Savings Tips.

MV, you might want to sign up as a Sirius affiliate.  ;)

i drove hundreds of thousands of miles in a semi truck using it, and yes there is the occasional dropout, but not streaming over my phone.

I've had sat radio for the better part of a decade now.  The only issues I've had are momentary drops due to the trees here.  We live in a very forested area with trees well over 60 feet tall.  Those tend to block the signal for a few seconds here and there.  Other than that, I've always been satisfied with the signal quality.

Help- Just came here. So I don't have to read several hundred previous posts, please explain who "Dave" is ? Is it another name being used for "GEORGE Noory" ?

Here's a thought. We know that Noory does have some fans. Not many, and nowhere near as passionate or tech savvy as Art's, but they must exist. Kinda the same way that Ace of Base sold ten million records in the 90s but no one you know will admit to having owned one.

We're all thinking along the lines of how Dave will hem, haw and guffaw when an Art caller slips through. How do you think Art would handle it if a "Dave loyalist" called in to Dark Matter?

It's fun to speculate.

I think Ecker's three listeners have appeared here already.

In all seriousness, Ecker may have appeared with Art at some point... he's the retired cop turned UFO investigator, right? it might be fun to hear Art take a call like "hurrr, Don Ecker, Dark Matter, herp derp."

Phaedra

I have Cox Communications and they offer Howard Stern TV On Demand. . .daily shows, archived shows, etc etc.  Would be awesome if Art's return generated enough of a following for them to eventually develop something like that for Dark Matter.  After all, they seem to have a lot of faith in him. . .building a state-of-the-"art"  ;) facility at his home for him is a pretty big investment, I'd imagine.  Don't mind me, just dreamin'. . .. .  :)

Foodlion

I don't think anyone mentioned this already, but to no surprise George mentioned nothing about Arty's return on C2C last night.
Just a long intro of news from around the world, and a simi-interesting show about NSA followed by loooong breaks.

Or maybe Whitely comes back? Dreamland...

Whitley blows. His pace/rhythm/diction tanks any sense of energy the show may have. This is based on hearing him host, live, twice. Since then he's ramped up his internet radio thing, so who knows.

I like Whit as a guest, writer etc, but in no way want to see him as a host. Him and Dave being non-radio guys landing host duties is cringe-worthy, like those rock stars back in the late 80s trying their hand at acting on Miami Vice. Painful.

As the story goes... A member of this forum made a phone call to a radio station to see if they were able to gather information on Art Bell (before we knew about the XM radio deal) and before the call was over it was revealed that the worker knew so little about George Noory that they referred to him as "Dave Noory" instead. So even the people in the radio biz see him has next to nothing, whereas, most know about Art's legacy.
The name Dave Noory was coined as a mockery to George and so the fun began. Hope that helps.

I was just saying that to my wife as well!  They also are saying that housing prices are rebounding to the highest level since the 90s.  Knock on wood, but I think that this all bodes well for this decade.

Good summary, FL.  Just one small point, it should be "Dave Noorie."  You now how Dave hates it when "Thuh Haterz" misspell his name.   ;)

Nice.  On demand, five hour "buffer" on SiriusXM internet radio, replays and best of the week.

It's friggin' Christmas in September!

Tsk, tsk, tsk. It's not polite to get people's names wrong.
Dave's name is Dave Noorie

;D

morphiaflow

Well, with his dropping Art's name and his feeble snipe about being "the one and only", Dave has already proven how butthurt he and by extension, Coast itself and PRN, are by Art's refusal to 'wind down', 'stay retired' and 'spend time with his family'. So does anyone here doubt even a little bit that behind the scenes they will engage in intimidation games with guests and other underhanded, unethical and disreputable practices?

I know Art's been teasing "the real story" for a while now, but whether we ever really get HIS real story, I have no doubt the before much time passes, probably well before September 16, things will start to leak out, and we will start to hear stories confirming just how pissed/scared they REALLY are that he would dare to exercise his non-compete and start broadcasting again.

Also, I've said often and loudly round these parts that Knapp's days are numbered. I would now put money on that, especially given his publicly congratulating Art. If he hasn't already gotten a stern talking-to from TPTB at Premiere, I'm certain he will soon.

Be a shame if Coast lost the one good host they have left...on the other hand, I'm sure Mr. Knapp could pick up an occasional hosting job somewhere else...

The only real question for me, as others have brought up, is how quickly Somewhere in Time will be discontinued. Either they keep broadcasting it as a fuck you to Art, though maybe picking less than stellar shows, or else they do it in a "Old Art is better than New Art" way, though that would undercut the narrative they're trying to paint of Art being insignificant. Either way, they lose--especially, hopefully, 40 Limbaugh affiliates.

Why couldn't he? I don't know where the idea started that The Chase was owned by PR. Maybe I have it wrong.

The chase appeared on a Movie soundtrack in the 1970's I think. It's a normal piece of music that is readily available to the public. I made 5 CD's of Art Bell bumper music many years back and that song is on there.

Art could definitely use it if he wanted. Question is... would he dare? I think we'll be hearing different intro music. The chase is so affiliated with c2c. If he does use "The Chase", we'll know that "IT'S ON" and Art is here to Take c2c down!
