Do you believe in the multiverse?
Do you believe in time travel?
What about black holes? Are they wormholes to another dimension?
Do you believe in other dimensions?
There's got to be something bigger out there, don't you think?
What got you started in astrophysics?
Was Einstein right?

You are all wrong...

among real first questions:
"Ever wondered how it all started?"

It would be so funny if the answer just once came back, "Gosh, no".

We also have ‘Do you think that there is an Island of Dr. Moreau somewhere.’  Huh? Does this have anything to do with Tyson’s area of specialty at all?  George is reading this forum and wants throw everyone for a loop!  ;)

I was really looking forward to this show because I'm a fan of Neil Degrasse Tyson. Once again Noory made it so dull I fell asleep. This isn't really fair. If a program is going to have shows scheduled with people as interesting as Tyson, they need a decent host. I would be so pissed off if I was a "coast insider". Anyone who is is basically throwing their money away. Its absurd to have such a mental midget hosting this show.

Did Noory abruptly drop yet another guest last night?  The summary on the C@C webpage says author Chris Carter was only on for the 3rd hour.  I thought he was going to be the 2nd half guest...

I could be wrong, but I think Chris Carter (Wednesday night) was dumped.  Noory was fielding calls solo in the last hour.  What I found interesting was his first guest that night,  Pauline and John Holeton, who were on to talk about those "smart meters."  Three times Pauline asked George to explain his questions.  I, and any other well trained Snoorologist, knows that George hates it when he has to explain a question. You got two options with George: you either answer it, or you tell him it's a great question and then you answer it.  So during the second hour, when John realized that Pauline wasn't responding, George said, "I think she dropped off," or something like that (it was storming that night and I was bit distracted on the road), and there was no concern in his voice about it.  None.  Zip.  Catherine Austin Fitts was live in the studio tonight.  Planetarium guy, Neil deGrasse Tyson was good, and seem to rise above George's "you can't rule it out" excuse to believe anything.

I think Carter was dumped, too. I decided to flatter those of us here and assume it was Noory having his panties in a bunch about our criticism of him doing the same thing the night before.

The smart reader people (especially the guy) seemed a little dense at times, but any professional radio talk show host knows that when you are interviewing two people (who can't see you) at the same time, you direct a question to one or the other. The awkward pauses in this 'interview' came as a result of Simple George just tossing out questions to people who were obviously not that experienced at radio interviews.

I thought Tyson was very good, despite Simple George's incompetence. I'm surprised SG didn't ask the guy who he thought built the pyramids. He did ask about those stupid 'helicopter' images at Abydos.

But it was uncalled for that Noory dumped the interesting Giza Pyramid main guests after only one hour the night before.
And Noory didn't even have the guts to mention he had done that or the reason why on the air.
He just magically brought on substitute guest Joshua Warren in the 3rd hour with no explanation whatsoever...  :o

You're absolutely right. Ian, Knapp and especially Art back in the day would have given listeners an explanation as to what happened... bush-league!

Does anyone remember the night Knapp couldn't hear the guest and the guest couldn't hear Knapp, but Knapp's producer could hear both of them?  For probably the first half hour of his show, GK did the interview with the producer telling him (off air) when the guest was done speaking; GK would then "react" to what the guest had said and pose another question, and so on and so forth until the technical problem had been fixed.

Now, Knapp explained to his audience what was going on, but I swear to God no one would have known otherwise had he kept his mouth shut.  It was that smooth.

Can anyone imagine the meltdown Simple George would have had in that situation?

I absolutely remember that night.  Knapp was awesome......handled it like the pro that he is.  Noory panics if the guest takes more than two seconds to respond to his idiotic questions.  Noory would have cancelled the guest that night and had one of his "replacements" fill in.

Well I blew that one.  I was surprised how Noory actually stayed on topic and didn't go off into ET, solar kill shot, multiverses etc.  Maybe Tyson warned him!

Another Friday night, the C2C website currently says TBA... Will we have a) finger nail clipper questions?  b) more singing of Elvis tunes?  c) skipping out early/playing a rerun hour 4 because Noory is appearing at a health show tomorrow?  d) something new?

i can think of a great example of art's actions in this very situation.  do you remember when george green (i think that's his name) was on and art terminated the interview prematurely because of green's unbelievably unbelievable claims?  art ended the segment playing the doobie brothers' what a fool believes, began the next segment playing the same song, and then opened by telling green, live on air, that he's terminating the interview because he doesn't believe a word of it.  i know art did this on other occasions with other fraud guests, but this is the biggest example i'm able to recall.

what a great host art was.

if anyone knows the location of the show i'm referring to above, please link if possible.

A Skeptic's Perspective / Open Lines
Fri 03-02
In the first half, George Noory welcomes author and skeptic Guy Harrison, who will discuss why extraordinary claims and weird ideas fascinate so many people. Followed by Open Lines.

But Noory has another convention event scheduled to appear at tomorrow (Health Expo) so expect him to skip out early in the last hour and they may put on an old replay for the last half-hour without warning...
We get only one night with Noory this weekend, since he hosts Sunday as well.  :(

I found some YouTube videos of him.  Looks like he's piggybacking heavily off of Billy Meier.  It's funny to watch him tall about some of the Meier photos that have been *thoroughly* debunked on the net for years.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is scheduled as a guest tonight. An actual astrophysicist scheduled on the show. With George?

There's a part of me that's morbidly curious to hear the ensuing, inevitable trainwreck that almost always happens when legitimate science and George Noory inhabit the same space. I'll be curious to hear what happens (but I won't be listening).

Tyson has  a lot of experience in dealing with those of very limited ability. He's such a pro at it that the objects of his patronizing and softballing usually have no idea they've just been coddled. So I expect that Simple George will feel like a genius when Tyson gets through with him.

Was Green the guy who had the outrageous story about finding a lost Inca city or some such nonsense in S. America?

I recall once circa 2003-4 when some one-hit-wonder author (seems like he was a cryptozoology guest) just would not give Art any information, repeatedly giving simple "Yes" and "No" answers, or falling back on "It's all in my book". What the author was doing was so obvious, and so incredibly rude to both Art and the audience.

He was supposed to be on, IIRC, 2 hours, but Art knew if it went on like that he'd lose his listeners for the night. I don't know if Art tried during the first break to get the guy to give at least some information and the guy wouldn't, or if Art already had his mind made up; but at the end of 30 minutes Art came back on by himself and said he'd cut the guest loose. Art said, "I won't have people on here if all they say is that the answer can be found in their book. It's an insult to my listeners" And he just went on to Open Lines for 90 minutes like the pro he was. An no army of helpers to do everything for him.

Ah, what  a man!

That made me think of the Time Life commercials from the 80's for the Mystic Places books.  "Read the book!"

Very funny first two hours tonight. The guest was Guy Harrision, a skeptic (not a debunker) who wrote a book about the likelihood of various paranormal beliefs being true. Very reasonable and well-spoken guy, but Simple George got more and more irritated as the 'interview' went on when Harrison wouldn't agree with SG's beliefs. Noory almost lost his famed 'courtesy' after bringing up Edgar Mitchell's alleged claims that, despite not having seen anything himself, his conversations with others in the space program convinced him that we have 'been visited'. ( I'm not sure if Mitchell ever said that anywhere but in Noory's mind.) Harrison replied that astronauts are as possibly susceptible to misinformation and delusion as the rest of us.

Worth listening to, anyway. Simple George even took a shot at the guy during Open Lines.

Morgus

Noory actually hung in there live for the whole 4 hours tonight.
Maybe he has seen we are watching and logging his attempts in the past to cut out early on Friday nights and is afraid of getting caught now? :D
At least we were spared Noory trying to sign a song at the end like he did last Friday - he was back to the old UFO Phil song instead this time...

George thought that dropping the name of an astronaut would cause Guy Harrison to abandon his logical ways.  I find it curious that when George goes up a skeptic he comes with no game.  There is so much that he is "convinced" of, yet he can't muster a decent defense to any of it.  I know it's paranormal, and there is little to call "evidence," but put up a fight, man.  Go down swinging.  Could George not think of anything to counter Harrison's dismissal of the JFK conspiracy?  Guess not.  Yeah, ufo phil is back in business.  I guess it will take a small email campaign to get the Noor-miester back into his velvet jacket of love.

rangers1919

I wish I heard that interview. I never listen anymore. I've listened about 2 times in the last 2 months I think. I turned on once, and as I usually do now I kept my finger on the tuner so I could change it if the topic was one of my 3-4 which make me immediately change the station. "...something, something, Angels?" And station changed. Total listening time about 4 seconds. I did however get a few minutes in about a month ago when they were talking about the same old Billy Meier case. I think that is one topic dickhead Noory handles ok, but only because the guest is decent.

If you quit listening to C2C for 2 weeks you will pretty much be done for life. I can't even listen to mock them anymore.

I'm right there with you ranger. I listened last back in late November. And couldn't give a fuck

From what I've seen of the guy, he looks like a strong case of Munchausen Syndrome.

I was up late last night due to the storms so I tuned into a station that carries Coast. Lo and Behold I hear Red Eye Radio instead of Simple George.  I haven't tuned into that station for a number of months so who knows when they dropped the show. All I know is that they had been carrying C2C since the beginning.

LOL @ Simple George and his radio CRAP-FEST

Not that it matters but Art was an avid weather watcher and would have taken calls from people in the affected areas of the tornadoes. Noory would be scared to open to the lines that way. He'd rather talk to nutcases who are screened and put through to make him sound smart.
This show is totally wrong anymore.

VtaGeezer

Last night was actually OK. I could go back to tolerating Noory if he conducted himself every night as reasonably as he did with Harrington.  He (mostly) restrained himself from injecting his standard fodder for C2C's least common denominators. He let the guest venture to places where he usually fights to redirect...or just disappears the guest.  It helped that GN left his New Agey consciousness twaddle home last night.  Not bad George.  Really.
