George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 12:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Art and everyone else just want to put it all behind us.

But before we do, I really hope Art tells the story, either all at once or in bits and pieces over several shows.  I think he's torn between wanting to and just letting it go.
[/quote]

I think Art has to tell the full story now what with all the drama recently and the little hints here and there as to what went down. All cards should be laid on the table.
Maybe George could be Art's first guest! How about that for a show stopper/starter?

Ravenna

Maybe Art thinks it would be petty to bring up how PremRat wronged him after all these years.  That damage has been done, and cannot be undone.  Art has worked long and hard to move on, and is doing so magnificently with his new show.  So perhaps he will be content to let the past lie there.  And, if there is a story, as I suspect there is, I bet it's a very sad one that will only show PremRat to be the rats that they are.  And with so many people like that in radio, or so I hear, it's no wonder it's come to the sad state that it's currently in.  I believe the future of cutting edge "radio" lies in podcasts.  And, maybe, in satellite radio.

I still want to see a celebrity boxing match with them.  Art would clean Dave's clock.

HaveAccess

If Art opens a web portal, Premrat has no place to run.

The economics being such, fans would have convenient access to quality MP3s, at low cost, with additional royalties to SiriusXm and Art. Its win, win, win.

The PremRat website with its MP3s would be redundant. That leaves PremRat merely bundling an alternative to late night dead air, with Noory pitching pizza rolls. Which no one with a smartphone, computer or satellite radio will listen too.

To be ignored themselves. A fitting conclusion for those who treated a sincere interviewer and an intelligent audience with contempt.

What would bring in the largest audience for Art and his new show?  I suspect that there are many like me, that are somewhat boggled by the electronics media.  Combined with cost, this is a real factor.

Easy access and little or no cost would be the perfect way to gather a larger listenership.  How? Web portal, what is that?

Perhaps it's all part of that mass conspiracy by people behind the curtains to keep the plebeians dumbed down; to prevent them from thinking outside the box and questioning things too much.
Thanks for using Carolyn Jones for your avi.  She was one of the best and very appropriate to be the face of your intelligent posts.

The mass conspiracy is to sell stuff; breath mints and Sleep Number beds.  "They" don't care what people think as long as their stuff sells.  Dave's job is to attract the attention of people who will buy their stuff.   PremRat does not care to preserve the C2C brand judging by the way they have let it degrade.

Maybe "they" want want the attention of the young people more than the older generation; people just out of college with their lives just starting; they need everything!

Think again.  I've got news for "them". There is a whole internet and world full of entertainment alternatives out there.  Dave won't attract them with his dated references to Twilight Zone and Dr. Morgue.

Art is headed for a sweet spot. Read that article posted here a day or two ago.  Art creates a good audience by offering good programming.  Art attracts the intelligent, wealthy and discerning enough to pay for satellite radio - or those smart and motivated enough to do a work around. This includes people who have kids that need stuff in this shrinking economy.  PremRat should try harder to keep Mom and Dad's attention.

Finally, let the Oates thing be forgiven and move on. Don't forget it - it is an excellent example of Dave's bad judgement but, for Art, don't keep bringing it up.  You just have to.  Many of us have stuff in life like that and understand it deeply.

George, I just want to say THANK YOU for sucking so badly that you brought Art Bell out of retirement. Words cannot sufficiently convey my gratitude. Your decade of suck has finally paid off for us.

I sent my thank you to Premrat a few weeks ago. No response.  ;)

This is George Noory. It's not the same as the "I'm willing to grow and learn - please teach me. Puppy dogs! Unicorns!" tripe which "GNoory" shoveled out. Not the same person at all.
Beautifully said.

I've read your posts as you bang this gong and I've never really understood.  Do you agree that the person posting as dave is either THE dave or someone from the show?  If you agree, then isn't it a distinction without a difference?  It seems to really matter so I'd like to understand.

Perhaps it's all part of that mass conspiracy by people behind the curtains to keep the plebeians dumbed down; to prevent them from thinking outside the box and questioning things too much (or, if they must question, have them questioning things that don't matter a jot).  Art's show was a sort of meeting point that had very intelligent people questioning what was really going on in our reality, it was very high profile, and maybe it couldn't be allowed to continue.

He's the Honey BooBoo of radio?

George,

I have an idea for you. Stink Number Breath Mints. I think your number would be a nine. You could advertise your new product on Dark Matter.  Just an idea.

You're welcome,

I can only think that PremRat/Clear Channel just doesn't give much of a fig about the late night time slot, and only wants something in there that doesn't shake the apple cart.  c2c has pretty much become that now, as listening to it has become almost safer than going down to my local strip mall and about as intellectually stimulating.

They should think a little bit more about their demographic and how they spend.  I'm college educated, over 40, no kids, spend a small fortune on "stuff" every year (mostly books and electronics).  Hardly a day doesn't go by that I don't buy something off Amazon.  I've even briefly considered a sleep number bed, but I don't quite need one yet (do the "young people"?  I doubt it).

Sirius would do well to figure out what is the demographic of Art's core audience (I bet a lot of them are at least over 35) and cater the advertising to them.  I bought a CCrane radio back in the day, coz Art espoused them so much.  It was good, but it's unnecessary now since there's that wonderful thing referred to as internet streaming radio.  I can get something like 5,000 radio stations on my Kindle, between I Heart Radio and Tunein.com.  I love it, since I have a small thing about listening to local stations in other cities than my own to figure out what's going on in them (I will no longer have time for this once 'Dark Matter' starts up).

And thanks for saying that my posts are intelligent.  (That did make me feel good).  Maybe it's that "college educated" thing, plus all the books I order off Amazon.  (And I confess that I now download books to my Kindle, too.  And while I do feel sort of bad about that, it's saving me a ton of money.  Just today downloaded an eBook for $2.99 that would have cost me over $14 to buy used as an old-school actual book).  If you can't beat them, join them; unless of course it's the c2c audience.  And you can beat them, their inane host and parent company, by turning off the station that carries the show and turning on Sirius to listen to Art.  I won't be listening to c2c anymore once 'Dark Matter' is available on my Kindle every night, even for that slightly sick pleasure I used to get out of just how dreadful Snoory is in a "smh-can-you-believe-this-doofus" sort of way.

One thing I remember right after 9-11 is Art saying he would not entertain any conspiracy theories about it whatsoever as he felt it would be disrespectful to the victims and their families.

Of course, this all changed after Dave took over in late 2002.

Art's always been a class act. Dave would do well to take a few lessons from him.

This is a totally respectable and honorable position for a professional broadcaster, regardless of any personal opinions which he may or may not otherwise have. Out of respect for the dead and their families, I refuse to accept or comply with any theory by any party whose summation justifies more death and destruction. This goes for the "straight media" intel cover-uppers as well as for all the geniuses who know the "real" story.  The directly guilty are dead. Their co-conspirators are dead or on their way. Honestly, I don't know from what nationalities they originate, if they wore uniforms, or for what nation if they did. All I know and what I teach my kids and grand kids is that mean stupid people suck, no matter who they are.

Not saying I agree with him; just reporting.  That's a brazen accusation to make.

There are many stories of people who missed the plane or didn't go to work.  They are interesting because they help me accept when things don't seem to go my way; there may be an unseen advantage. Does that make sense? These people seem to have a new appreciation for life.  They just better not say they were chosen special cuz that is just plain offensive.  It's fine to appreciate a gift.

Sorry if I sounded like I intended that for you, sleeplessinca. I meant it for the guy Noory had on. It bugs the crap out of me when people fashion conspiracies out of the flimsiest of reasons, like a doctor's appointment. As if, in the entire history of the world, someone's life wasn't saved by a doctor's appointment, a missed connection or, in my neighbor's case, a missed train.

I remember sitting next door with another neighbor, watching people coming home covered in ash and smelling the smoke all the way in our neighborhood and at the same time frantic to confirm this nice lady was alright. And on that day, there were so many nice people who weren't alright. It's the luck of the draw, I guess, but capitalizing on it is lower than a snake's belly.

So we had this beautiful show, Coast To Coast that explored the " could be", the "maybe" of life. The outer fringes, the desert frontier of life. Indeed, occasionally the hidden truth of life. With humor, insight and curiousity.

PremRat takes over and runs its origanator out, with a noncompetition clause.

PremRat installs a pretender, a second best, a this will do moderator.

The rest of us are left wondering what the hell happened. We quickly realize the lack of depth, the indifference, the lack of  creativity and substance of this old new creature. Over the years, careful polite letters are written to PremRat. Point for point examples given that no objective person could possibly ignore. But ignored they are. The frustration and anger builds with the lack of any articulate reponse from PremRat.

In time, the answer becomes clear. This is what PremRat wants. It is not that they do not know. They know. In fact they will it.  In fact they delight in it. And they in their absolute arrogance, detest anyone pointing out its deficiencies.

Great post.  This really captures the story well.  I especially like your eloquent description of the c2c that was.  What a waste that management has slowly frittered it away over time.  I can't wait for Art to remind us all again what the real thing is like, out there on the desert frontier ...

Hi, missed last night's broadcast as I always listen a day late.  And, as I am in DC, we were all paying our respects to 911, at the Pentagon.

Because George, a lot of real people died; no joke, no hoax.  Plane went into the Pentagon.

Art = Occam's Razor.

Sardondi

The difference between the two men is that Art is an artist, at least a craftsman, who is obviously motivated by love of what he does. He takes great pride in his work, and his reputation is of paramount importance to him. This is the mark of the consummate professional.

George on the other hand is a shill, an employee who pushes a product, who is motivated only by a paycheck. And it shows. It's not immoral by any means: George is like most of us when it comes to why we do what we do to earn our respective livings. He clearly takes little pride in the product he puts out, and in fact is even embarrassed to a degree by what he's still professional enough to recognize is his clock-punching attitude. George, in contrast to Art, has the world-view of an employee, a laborer, not a professional.

I would say that Art is a very lucky man, but then I recall a quote attributed to various successful people throughout history, "The harder I work, the 'luckier' I get."
