"foodstuffs"
That word always leaves me puzzled. When I hear people say it, I think it is a frickin joke.
I know it is a real word, but it is just silly.

Maybe that will be the follow-up cook book to Dave's Late Night Snack book:  "Soylent Green, Disgusting Insect Delicacies, and other Alien Foodstuffs."

Peter Davenport pretty much says the same thing over and over-"Write down your story" its boring and he adds zero to the conversation.

I tend to agree, though he's about as old of a coast guest as you can get, I remember when Alan Corbeth was pissed at him for wanting money to appear on coast.

Maybe that's another pointer for George. There are a whole lot of interesting people in the UFO field that hardly ever get interviewed. One would be Ted Philips that focuses on physical trace evidence of UFO landings. One of his group showed me a piece of tree bark with flies scorched onto it from an alleged UFO landing in Elsberry, Missouri. I'm a skeptic, but with their level of documentation and care, it sort of freaked me out.

CampsieNP

"Are are yewwwww?" he asks the 2nd guest. He really belted out a long "yewwwww".
I think that was for us.
He got in a "you got that right" as well.
This IS a comedy show, right?

September 16th.

At least we don't have to spend bucks for our torture.  To bad it looks like MV will.  At least $25 worth.  ;)
Kinda funny, and a good opportunity to pass a hat here, I felt strangely motivated two days ago to send bellgab.com exactly $25 and did. So We're covered for now but in case our new pal decides to repeat shout out and cash in,some others of ya'lls might want to pitch forth a bit toward this entertaining alternative (adjunct?) to prescription medications. Thanks MV. both your children are growing but I imagine this one can be less of a joy and more of a pain.

Does Billy Mumy sing?  Hey, it might be better than UFO Phil.
Yes he actually does. Billy Mumy has been a singer/musician even way back as Will Robinson.
Back then he played the guitar and sang "Greensleeves"

Ditto on George waking up a bit and getting partial hold of at least one of the reins. I think Art's return to radio is the kindest thing he's ever done for Norry.  It's going to make him up want to up his game unless he want's to look like an even bigger idiot.  Noory has to quit coasting along on a seat he's never properly earned.
I see from reading the past posts a lot of you guys turned into mush and lost your backbones when he showed up.  What the hell, he comes in with a picture of this vulnerable little baby Awww. Then talks about his sister dying from brain cancer ( welcome to the planet earth) then talks about his own brush with death ( I almost died ya know) Awww then Whitley's wife's brain cancer - all the suffering - welcome to the human race!  But, what the hell does any of that have to do with his ability to "host".   I think I'll call it "coasting" cause that's what he does.  I sure would like to know what he was doing in university all those years.  It sure wasn't learning critical thinking skills.  He still makes a mockery out of people's intelligence. You know what bugs me the most about him taking over Art's seat?  He didn't back then and still doesn't deserve it.  I'll change my tune when I start seeing him show even the most basic intelligence about the subject matter he's supposed to be engaging in.  I'll believe he's getting better when he asks questions that haven't been answered by the book he's supposed to have read.
I hope someone remembers the name of this thread when he shows up again and it doesn't turn into his instant fan club.  I don't want to blast the guy but I sure want to ask him why the hell he doesn't like to do his job properly.

I think George gets the fact that we are all here to document that we think he sucks as a radio host.  If he comes on here, 78 different people re-stating he sucks doesn't really do any more than the previous 1100 pages of documenting we think he sucks.  So I think some of us think hey, the guy's here, we may as well pick his brain, ask him a few questions, and be somewhat civil.  He has already shown he is not going to answer any hardball questions regarding his job performance, so why drive him out by bashing him - it's too easy to do.  I think its more intriguing to ask him some questions, let him know we're not the one-dimensional haters he thinks we are, and banter back and forth a bit.  What's the harm?  He's definitely showing he's vulnerable, so I guess we can at least listen to what he has to say.

Here, here. That's what I was saying. If you put a question to him the way you would in real life, you'll probably get an answer. I think even a hardball question. He answered mine on what he thought his weaknesses were. He probably hasn't got time to go back and answer questions from hours previous, but next time he's here, ask him something more hardball but put it very nicely. I'll bet he'll even answer the question about why he's been playing so much of Art's more obscure bumper music.

SciFiAuthor

I'll ask a hardball question. Alright George, we often see you refresh and check us out during the show. Are you normal like the rest of us and drift and check out other things while the guests elaborate on not-so-personally interesting topics?

This is meant in a friendly way, I do that while I'm on the phone with people LOL. I'm just seeing if you'll answer a good natured, but hardball question.

Gnoory

Hey gang:
real quick. I have ALWAYS run AB bumper music for the past 10plus years.
I pick 55% of the songs my board op picks the rest.
Is there a specific song...we try to vary it ...its there a specific song????or two so I can give you an answer

Gnoory

Yes I do drift once inawhile.
and sometimes stupidly come back and ask the question he already answered lol!
Im working on that..over the past two weeks

SciFiAuthor

I said before George that it's showing. You seem to have the "nighthawk" back. I may be way off base, but the "Year of the Cat" might actually be one of the songs we're wondering about. I understand that you can't answer immediately LOL, time is running short! Save it for another time.

Gnoory

in a break.....weve used it before........its been on the list they gave me 10 years ago!

I have $25 for the first person who gets on with Dave Noorie tonight and clearly, intelligibly says "bell-gab-dot-com."  Again, you have to say it clearly.  No nervous mushmouth.

PM me and let me know what your radio name will be so i can verify it was you.

Payment will be sent via PayPal.

Yeah, I know it was $100 last time.  What can I say.  I now have a baby to feed and such.

haha, nicely done once again, bateman.  keep it coming.  don't stop.

oh, and you'll get $25 for an intelligible, audible, coherent coastgab.com or bellgab.com on air mention.  let's make this happen.

Does someone owe me $25.00 lol

Here is MVs first offer of the $25, and the reminder when Bateman was pranking George's show.  The first offer was on the Art Bell thread, the reminder was on page 958 of this thread.  Gnoory's first post was Aug 12 on Page 987 - 29 pages later.

Either George or someone at PremRat was reading here all along, or someone went back and read earlier posts.

Yes, they've been going through the posts carefully, at least since around the time Art announced his show.  I'd guess they have been all along.

SciFiAuthor

Now, my point with that exercise is this:

Firstly, I know I'm going to be accused of being Tommy. Give me some credit, accuse me of being Hoagland so I can at least revel in the fantasy of having nice hair. That said, I'm just some asshole out here that noticed that George was logged in and jumped on the questions and put it in a friendly manner and behold, George answered them.

I really think George is being sincere and reacting to you guys. Take advantage of it! We might get two really good shows out of this, George and Art! It doesn't hurt to try!

To George: Yeah, Art owns the Crystal Gale tune. Though I guess St. Louis is kind of a desert. Or it has good deserts anyway, like a gooey butter cake from Schnuck's.

Hey George. I'd love to hear some good old classic rock, like Boston, Kansas, etc.

Morgus

"Year of the Cat" always seemed to me to be an Art Bell specific bumper music, since he has lots of cats...

Morgus

Why not have your own bumper music selection instead of using the old list from 10 years ago?
Make the show completely your own.

Man, you're good, Morgus.  The scary thing is I think I actually remember it, now that you mentioned it.

Hell, let's make bumper music suggestions. I'm sure he'll be responsive. Seriously, don't be mean, what would good George Noory specific bumper music be? I will have to think on that for a moment.

Good choices, Roy.  Love Boston.  I'd go for "Don't Look Back" or "Walk On."

SciFiAuthor

Roy, a good one from Boston might be "Foreplay". I know the title is a bit racy, but god damn is that one hell of an instrumental jam. And it's short. If George wants to up the edginess, that might be a possibility to set the mood.

George, over the years you've had complaints about this very thing.  I know because I've sent a few emails about it myself and got back answers suggesting I'm a 'low-life', 'pond scum' and a 'hater', with suggestions I 'get a life'.  The first few I sent were polite, but drew these response anyway.

There have been plenty of posts here about this very thing over the years as well.

So now you decide to work on it?

Has something changed?

Yes, Foreplay Long Time is awesome.  There's a nice tie-in with the guitar UFOs from the album covers too!

Isn't the whole idea of bumper music to indicate the show is going to commercial or coming back from one?  Art of course took that to a whole new level.

Seems to me anything upbeat and bouncy does the job, slow and boring - not so much.

Nighthawk

New bumper music for George

Gnoory

I think the  bumper music bothers you because art is coming back, but we have used it on the show during Art's reign and now mine.Honestly no one brought this us until his announcement.
Its not about us, its about the show and its the shows identity.Like the open and close I would think AB will have new, fresh music and not old c2c music
