George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 12:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

George Drooly

Why the hell can't George properly pronounce any words containing the letter "r"?

Poorwaffel
Thirater

etc.

Dude is an alphabetic bigot

Is it just me or does this guest's accent keep switching between British and Southern US?

edit:  I figured it out.  He's from South Africa.  I'm not very familiar with the South African english accent.

Since you've already answered the question, Dave will now ask it.

Listened to last night's show and thought the guest was quite interesting. It was pretty clear though that Dave started to run out of questions to ask him and not repeat asking him during the end of the second hour.

Also it is confirmed. C2C is going live finally (after I think two years now on NW98). Not sure what is happening to Sports Talk but Network Replay (classic radio hour that has been on at midnight for literally decades) is being moved to the website, good news though it will be available 24/7 there.

Hockey won't be the same without Dan Russell.  Maybe he's moving to 1040 where he can join live broadcasts?

I found this article if you're interested:

Sportstalk host Dan Russell out at CKNW
http://www.pugetsoundradio.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1363378099/

If George Noory has become more of a ratings draw in Vancouver than Vancouver Canucks hockey, then the end of the Mayan calendar is truly upon us.

Dan's been gone before but found ways to return...it'd be the ultimate irony if he jumps to 1040 a year or so after Pratt signed with the station. I don't know though if he'd be a good fit their since over the last few years he's usually taken the opposite views of most of their hosts.

I don't know what the ratings are for C2C on NW, but I guess they must be quite high if they're willing to do this. This is quite the drastic shift for them. I do remember reading an article when C2C was on CFUN that it was fairly high and the most popular over night show in the city. It's going to be strange on the radio here come Sep. Thanks for the article btw!

I'm going to ask a question that will astound you, that might be the best question of my 25-years of calling C2C, and brings in elements of an atheist's view of God and Shrodinger's Cat, and blah, blah, blah.  Is there universe in which Bill, the AAA from West Hartford, Connecticut exists AND in which Bill, the AAA from West Hartford, Connecticut does not exist?

jinwicked

That guy has to be a joke. I heard that and refuse to believe he is real.

...God and Shrodinger's Cat, and blah, blah, blah....

I thought Bill from West Hartford's question (can God exist and not exist at the same time?) was good.  The Vernon Neppe/Edward Close segment was worth putting up with George, especially when Neppe would go on and on, expressing his wonder and joy about this quantum crazy universe.  During one such rant on the subject of "spin" he used the word ubiquitous three times.  I had no idea what it meant, and looked it up when I got home.  Cool.  Rosemary Ellen Guiley's  segment on angels was such a waist of time.  Bateman strikes again.

Bateman...loved how you just kept going on and on( I kept thinking at any  moment you were going to let them speak or respond, but you kept going) I was dying laughing....

I have to wonder.  He gets on both C2C and Ground Zero at least several times a week.  I'm not sure why Clyde Lewis lets him on so often since more times than not they start crossing swords, usually over something stupid.  Clyde must think arguing with idiots is entertaining.  ::)

Nice. That's  a word I hear and never really give it much thought. I guess it's because I understand it in context but after reading your post I was unable to define it. Now I can and I'm going to use it 3 times today. Thanks!

Noory is about as smart as a steaming pile.

And that's final. Great call Bateman!

Thank you to all. I just wish I'd been able to get the dead cat story out, plus an Art reference. At least I managed "could it be angels?" and "do they come from portals?"

You guys should definitely try to get on too; I'm running out of believable voices here.

Lol no more girl voice I'd say and no more nj.

The portal reference was the funniest! Freaking Noory.

My favorite was the give us a call back hope you weren't in a car accident. Lol

MV/Liberace!

haha, nicely done once again, bateman.  keep it coming.  don't stop.

oh, and you'll get $25 for an intelligible, audible, coherent coastgab.com or bellgab.com on air mention.  let's make this happen.

Vintage Noory:  the guest explains in clear (if whacky) terms what angels are.  THEN Noory asks, "What are angels?"  I heard a silence (what I interpreted to be a silence of stunned dismay).  Then the guest began to explain again what angels are.

As a junior college instructor, I encounter such obliviousness all the time.  I can put a reading assignment on the board, call the students' attention to it, underline the page numbers... and then someone will call out, "What's the reading assignment?"

I sometimes wanna bash my head against the wall.

(Referring back a couple of pages to USAGI and the reference to the older lady who was cut off.)

I could not believe how quickly "Mildred" was shut down when she attempted to mention Art Bell's new radio program.  It was then followed by a feeble and pathetic "attempt" to ask "Mildred" to call back and let everyone know that she was alright.

Noory, we're ON TO YOU............YOU'RE NOT DEALING WITH IDIOTS HERE!    >:(

Oh yeah, I bet he was beating the babes off him down at the Roxy while getting his drink on.

Sorry Kesler! you just can't compete with Jorch's p90x bod.

I'm either driving or dealing with vendors while the show is on.  Very difficult to be on hold.  You are so "in the zone" on this (three calls in one week) it cannot be denied.  As far as voices go, you can try "gay guy from Texas," or "surfer dude from Wichita."  As far as mentioning Coastgab (for some reason the "Bellgab" doesn't grab me) your probably going to have to surround it with some technical talk: "...so I think Nibiru is definitely out there, but we can't detect it because of a graviton field, witch may have developed when antimatter particles, left over from the big bang, reacted with quantum linkage, and caused a Coastgab effect...a Coastgab effect can totally hide an entire planet.  George, when are you coming out to Texas?"
Yes, of course, we should all be on this.  But right now you are the Cool Hand Luke to the inmates.  Or something like that.  In any case you have already made history.  And all of Coastgab salutes you.

Didn't see anyone else mention this, but last nite when talking about solar flares, I thought I heard Noorie say "sunspouts".

I actually knew that one, and like it too.  A kind of similar-sounding one I used to come across sometimes which I didn't know was "obsequious", then I finally looked it up and realized it could be applied to many of the Noorie open-lines callers.

Tonight the assault goes full frontal.

DOnt be so obvious as last night if you mannage to get through. USe a depper voice, act normal.

If I ever get on Im going to ask a good question, and second question will be point blank well george what do yewww think about art bells return to radio.

If I am not cut off I would give a shout out to coastgab at that point.

lol ask jorch if he put in his application for the scorpion army yet.

If you're going to do a female cat lady voice maybe flirt with George a bit.  Tell him you're 6'2" and lonely.  Tell him you love his Humperdinck for good measure.  Then he won't cut you off when you ask about Art ;D.

and no, I'm not going to do it  :P.

btw I'm not condoning these prank calls in any way.

While funny, would get the call dropped and waste a chance to mess with george.

Art_s Farts

Dave "the Dipshit" Noorie is still getting hammered at the official C2C Facebook page. I just took this screenshot. It won't be long until they are deleted.

MV,

At the moment, you are being quoted by a user who calls himself "Dave Norrie" on the C2C Facebook page.
