I'm thrilled with the victory but they were hardly decimated.  We need to convince more people to join us and being brash doesn't work for everybody. I'm not saying we have to compromise our ideals but we need to present them in a manner that is palatable.  Going off half-cocked on Twitter doesn't work for everybody.  I voted for the guy but there are certainly many people who didn't vote for him but would have if he chose his words a bit more carefully.  I get you want somebody that likes to punch back, so do I, but I'd rather he stuck to house rules.  I guess that is the difference between us, MD. It takes all kinds to elect a President.  Keep that in mind.

Personally, I'd be inclined to doubt that Trump was anti-Semitic,  if only because he seems to be someone of no strong convictions of any kind. There seems to be little that he will say one day that he isn't capable of repudiating the next. That rambling answer he gave to a Jewish reporter last week may have just been the blatherings of a not-particularly-bright man, or perhaps he had one eye on his base, who have a more equivocal view about Jews, who can say? Give him the benefit of the doubt and see how things go in the future.

Yeah, that's about where I am, too.  Trump is a horrible speaker, and anyone who looks to his extemporaneous remarks for anything other than sloganeering is doomed to disappointment.  FWIW I had to re-listen to that Jewish guy's question before I got it, and I think Trump took pains to address those concerns last night.

I am more concerned with what he does than what he says and I am encouraged (perhaps naively) that, with things like immigration reform, where we may be asked to distinguish legally between useful immigrants and criminals, and the new Muslim ban, which will probably identify  helpful Muslims we like from others we don't, the political discourse will move into a phase where a person's race or religion isn't the primary defining feature.  IMO, that's progress insofar as it represents discrimination -- the good kind -- instead of facile lumping.
