I once cared for a woman who had a Pap smear at PP showing early cervical cancer. As a single mother with a part time job, she had no healthcare insurance, and couldn't get any with her new, pre-existing diagnosis. Meanwhile the cancer quickly grew to a late stage and she came to the ER near death from sepsis due to the tumor blocking her urethra. What was diagnosed early by PP and could have been easily treated via an out-patient office procedure, instead resulted in months of expensive hospitalization and chemo for advanced cancer, paid for by you and me and other taxpayers. There are dozens of stories just like hers. But go ahead and insert your personal religious beliefs into the issues here.

I'm not saying that I want Planned Parenthood to go defunct but I don't think the federal government should be supplying funds to them.  It is true that I don't like abortion but my main thing is that I don't believe healthcare should be managed by the federal government.  Let cities and states provide such funds and perhaps they should specify just what their funds are for within Planned Parenthood.  I realize Planned Parenthood does some good work and there is definitely a place for them in our society.

Ahh! The will of the people! What if the will of the people decided that poor women who had children they didn't choose to have because they couldn't afford contraception were thrown down a pit? That way 'respectable' people wouldn't need to have their lives blighted by paying for them, when there more nuclear weapons to buy.

I don't mind Planned Parenthood providing contraceptives and such but I think they should stand on their own two feet and make their money as other nonprofits do.  By charitable donations, not by the federal government which falls in line with my belief that the federal government should be lean. Let the state and city governments provide some funding if necessary for the contraceptives.  I have no problem with that as long as it is the will of the people.

Aw, I'm not picking on you 21st, you know how much I value your opinion. But the entire abortion issue has too often come up and crossed into govenmental healthcare decisions where religion has no place.

The only problem with sending certain provisions back to the states is it inevitably leads to inequality. For example, there was a recent story about people with disabled children moving their families from Florida to Georgia because Fla had cut off their disability care services. So now Georgia is faced with picking up the tab. In theory it looks reasonable to send things back to individual states, but as in the Electoral college, all states are not equal in resources.

Regarding Hillary, as Secretary of State she made high-level contacts around the world. I don't think it's at all suspicious that international leaders and organizations would contribute money, considering the Clinton Foundation was addressing world-wide issues.

There's nothing wrong with the occasional rebuilding of an organization to make it more efficient and up to date.  The problem is Trump and the Rs don't have any plans for the new structures, only the dismantle--the ACA being just one example...

The problem is that when Trump blurted something to "the masses," it was just to win their votes by saying what they wanted to hear. For example, when he said he was going to "drain the swamp," did the masses think he'd refill it with billionaires and Wall Streeters to run his administration?

We've never had businessmen in charge of our government before, so this is just my opinion: Wealthy businessmen do not come up with policies that will benefit the working classes at the expense of their fellow rich people.

Do you really think a 70-year-old man who has never shown the slightest bit of concern for the working class suddenly wants to be their savior? Where is the portfolio of workforce housing he has built? If you look at the Trump Organization's press releases, it's nothing but luxury this and "most exclusive" that.

I've interviewed a lot of commercial real estate developers, and they're not just builders -- they're salesmen, too. They know what will resonate with an audience of planning commissioners, city councils and so on. They say things like: "My project will create a sense of place," "foster a 24/7 live-work-play lifestyle" or "activate the sidewalks." To that you can add: "I will make America great again!"

And unlike, say, politicians - ''wealthy businessmen'' are all exactly the same?

Has it occurred to anyone that a person can spend a lifetime building a business, then decide to do something else, even something beneficial to the community or the country later in life?  Are there no examples of, say, anything from volunteers to philanthropists to come out of the business world?  Ever?  No?

But Hilary Clinton, well, there's someone we can trust.  Just look at that fine track record.  Plus, she's a woman.  Win-win.
