That's why anyone owning a gun should learn to use it and should learn about gun safety. This is one of those agree to disagree topics. It's easy to quote statistics from articles and it's easy for statistics to be manipulated. In the end what it comes down to is you'd better hope no one with a gun attacks you or you're dead.

As I said; statistically the person owning it would be about four times more likely to be shot by it. So I'd be more likely not to be shot with someone elses gun.

Quote
I'll take my chances on owning a gun and possibly being able to save my life or the life of a loved one if I'm ever attacked.

Good for you. Just make sure you get it right; first time. Because you probably won't get a second chance. And that would sadden me greatly.

No one is arguing against shooting someone that enters your dwelling carrying a gun.  No one.  You are the one making that construction.

Get it?  We're all kind of on the same side here, which I think you will realize once the hysterics subside.

Yes, we wouldn't have a chance to do that gabcast together.  ;)

You expect SV would GC with me rather than you? Lol...I doubt it.

Back pedal much?

That is the most ridiculous bullshit I have ever heard of.  Where did you get that, some NRA fanboi site trying to cook up some rationale for preserving the 2nd amendment?  What an amazingly stupid thing to say.  By the way, just for the benefit of people who are NOT this guy, if you shoot someone during the course of a burglary to stop them from stealing your stuff, you will be thrown in jail.  If he dies you will be liable for a 2nd degree murder charge, more or less depending on the actual circumstances.  Don't listen to Mister "This Is My Rifle This Is My Penis" here.

We'll see.

If you ever host a Gabcast, be sure to shake the pea gravel out of your minge first, Stephanie. Nobody wants to hear you pitch any hissy fits.

I'm amazed that someone as rich as "Prince" died intestate. On another thread someone was complaining to me that it was stupid, or selfish*, to try to protect one's wealth and have estate planning, trusts, tax-advice, etc to protect your assets/family and also yourself if incapacitated (living will, PoAs, directives, etc)- but this Prince example will show you that at the end of the process it is possible that the government and various attorneys will be getting a greater share of Prince's assets, via taxes, Court costs, and legal fees, than his family or business partners. Probably will turn in some some "Bleak House" scenario, possibly. Actually, that might be an interesting Hollywood production- "Bleak House" set in modern times because our legal system, while not as bad, can still drag on for a long time.

If I do one with IB/SV, whoever; you'd better call in Vanessa. I miss how you manage that fake feminine voice and then can't quite reach the pitch and default back to backwoods hicksville. It's lovely. IB and SV haven't had the pleasure.

Oh, I'll call in alright. I wouldn't miss an opportunity to embarrass you.  I'll even wear that backwoods outfit you like so much.

I was just wondering, how does one get pea gravel in one's minge?

hifhfai#(&#@fheiehs.    What if it is someone harmless suffering from Alzheimers?  Y

This just happened a few years ago in KC.  Grandpa, suffering some form of dementia, walked several blocks and entered a family's home early one morning.  The owner drew down on him but recognized that the guy was old and unarmed.  Come to find out, Grandpa lived in that house when he was a boy and somehow found his way back home.  If the owner had dropped pops, I don't know how that would have played out in a legal sense.  On the other hand, our own notorious serial killer BTK would break into home and wait for the owner to come home.  he was successful at this too.  I'd rather someone armed (and wary) would have blown his brains out.  Kansas recently passed constitutional carry.  I can't wait to hear the statistics in a couple years.

IB!  Do you got a gat?  I now have to imagine you packing a roscoe on your left ankle.   sigh...  ;)

Both you and AKWilly seem to have had some trouble parsing out my post, so let me try again.

Saying that crime is low in Keenesaw Atlanta simply because "Criminals never know when they are going to face someone with a gun" is a odorous bit of ass-hattery that should not require explanation.

Regarding shooting someone with a burglary, nowhere did I mention doing so in self-defence, only in defence of property.  Although since we are on that topic, the law of self-defence is not absolute.  So Willy, when you get offended when I break into your house holding a banana and shoot me with a shotgun, you are not going to end up with the result you think that you do [side note here -- I don't know how things are in Texas.  They seem to be enthralled at the thought of killing people for any reason, so anything is possible].

Regarding defence of property, that discussion generally involves the Castle Doctrine, which means you can shoot an intruder who enters your home.  But the laws can be complicated and differ between states and again, if you think that blasting away indiscriminately is always permissible because, by golly it just is, then you are a pig-anus fister like Quick Karl who deserves to be in the slammer anyway.  But hey, don't let me be the one to dissuade you Deputy Dawg.  Drill that varmint full of lead and let God sort it out.

I didn't have any problem DPS.  I am telling you it depends on the state you live in.  In Texas, I have the right to use lethal force to defend my property. If someone goes on my back porch and tries to steal my trash can, I am within my legal rights to use lethal force to keep that person from doing that.

Would I use lethal force to defend my trash can?

The 4 day intensive defensive training course I try and take at least once a year has classroom sessions that make you ask yourself just these types of questions. They don't give you the answer, but they make you search your soul for the conditions in which you would be willing to kill someone.

Just because you are within your legal rights, it doesn't mean it's not going to impact or possibly destroy your life or livelihood.

I had no problems parsing your words, I was addressing the portion where you stated without condition that if you shot someone in the course of a burglary, you would be thrown in jail, and subject to second degree murder charges if they died. What I said, is that it depends on the state you live in, and that each person should know the laws of their own state if they are going to own a firearm for self-defense.

Sage advice, Gravity.

I don't own a firearm.  But, it's for folks like you that I support and defend our Second Amendment!!!

Heh.  So "celebrity deaths" has turned into "politics."  At least it didn't morph into "Falkie."

Is Art Bell back yet?

Good Lord.  Go put your head back in the sand.  Where do you come up with this crap?  The Southern Poverty Law Center?  It depends on the state.  Maybe you'll be arrested in whatever blue state you come from but not in Georgia.

A minge?  What's a minge?  Does everyone have a minge, or is it gender specific? ???
